fascinating movie history

There is fascinating movie history around every corner. Doug's movie tour bus was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The bus was extremely clean and comfortable. Movie clips added to my enjoyment.

Okay but somewhat disappointing

As much as I was looking forward to the tour and did in fact enjoy much of it, it was a bit disappointing. My biggest issue with it was spending almost an hour at an upscale golf resort for a lunch break. Maybe I misread the info, but I was under the impression we were to bring our own snacks and would not waste an hour of our day at a place we wouldn't have considered stopping at normally, and one that had nothing to do with filmmaking on the Monterrey coast. An hour at the Carmel mission or some other historic movie site would have been much more appropriate and entertaining. I was also under the impression that this was a three-hour tour. It actually finished promptly at 3:30 instead of 4:00. The actual tour was essentially an hour and a half after factoring in the stops. So, I felt our tour may have been cut a bit short due to the small size of our group and the fact that the owner/ tour guide was under the weather. We did enjoy him and he was quite pleasant and knowledgable. Also, although "From Here to Eternity" is heavily advertised in relation to the tour, it was never even mentioned; and although I won a trivia "contest" (as the guide called it), I received no prize (?). Kind of strange. All in all, it wasn't a bad time but not my cup of tea. I have no interest in upscale golf courses and am more into the rugged coasts and bohemian aspects of the area. I am also a film professor and wish the tour had maintained its focus on film a bit more. I don't think I would recommend this tour, but am not upset or angry that I went on it.

We had the pleasure of having Doug (the owner of Movie Tours of Monterey) as our driver and narrator of this fascinating tour. Doug knows his stuff! We enjoyed listening to his stories about Clint Eastwood and seeing all of the interesting sites used for filming in the Monterey Bay area. Doug has a great speaking voice and a good sense of humor. He even volunteered to take a picture of my husband and I at beautiful Cypress Point. I would definitely go on this tour again and highly recommend it to everyone whether you are a movie buff or not. The scenery will take your breath away. Good job Movies Tours of Monterey! Sincerely, Joan and Adam Williams

Great tour of peninsula and surroundings

If you aren't a 60ish or older person, the movie clips at the various locations they were shot would have been lost on you. The movies were primarily from the 50's and 60's. The tour overall was a great way to see the entire area and the tour operator was knowledgeable and a great speaker.

This is definitely a good way to start your tour of Monterey. It takes you to places you would never think of going. Movie buffs would definitely enjoy this time. It also gives you ideas on places you may want to visit in the future.

We would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who loves the movies! The tour guide was SO well informed and a delight to listen to; the bus was immaculate and comfortable; the movie screens and audio equipment was very good -- and the SCENERY was breathtaking!!!! What a fabulous way to spend an afternoon! Run - don't walk - to this fun event!

Our group all had a great time. The driver was lots of fun and so knowledgeable on all the movies. The weather was great so the bus ride and scenery were the best. I highly recommend the tour to everyone. Need to publicize it more as a lot of people have never heard of it. Great way to spend an afternoon.

We thoroughly enjoyed the movie tour. It was very exciting to be able to see actual movie scenes on the monitor while parked in front of the actual location scene. It was a thrill. The tour guide did a wonderful job and offered a a lot of insight into what went on behind the scenes. We had a great a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

My husband, sister and I went on the movie bus tour with Doug as the tour guide. We had so much fun watching the scenes on the screen and actually seeing where it was filmed. Doug was outstanding in all the information he gave us and just in his pleasant personality. The three of us would highly recommend the tour to our friends and have already done so since returning home from our vacation.

Worth every penny

I do not consider myself a classic movie enthusiast, but to know that the park I have lunch in everyday (Friendly Park / Colton Hall) was once in a movie and walked by stares like Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue, is pretty cool. The fact that is was also the site of our nation's capital was and even bigger bonus. I have lived in Monterey for the past 2 years and have done some site seeing from time to time, but nothing like this. Typically I was the one have to do the driving, which made it very difficult to truly enjoy the spectacular views. Monterey Movie Tours is very informative and entertaining. It is by far the way to travel.

With such spectacular scenery, it's no wonder that the Monterey Peninsula is such a magnet for movie cameras. We really appreciated all of Doug's inside knowledge about movie history in the area.

My husband and I went to California for our 30th wedding anniversary. We decided to book this tour via the web after reviewing it, and we were not disappointed! The tour guide was well informed and gave us a tremendous amount of information. It was so much fun watching the film clips and then seeing the place they were filmed. Talk about going back in time! It also provided a great tour of the Monterey/Carmel area. I certainly recommend this if you have any interest in the area and the movies. What a great combination! Have fun and enjoy!
