Fun and informative

I had a great time and so did my 16 year old son. Great for everyone and our guide was so well-informed compared to other guides I overheard near some of the same sites.

Fun but not easy.

While my wife was getting acquainted with a second, slower Segway, she missed the warning about approaching uneven cracks in the sidewalk at a right angle. She fell, got hurt and gave up the tour. Meanwhile, I had fun but found myself exhausted with the new nervousness I felt about the many uneven surfaces that our tour crossed. So it was fun but tiring for me and humbling for my wife.

2 "young' adults(late 50's) adjusted to the segways with minimal difficulty regular tour guide/instructor plus CAS docent who provided significant historical perspective. I think this depends on the specific docent based on other reviews. This is the luck of the draw. Easy way to cover significant distance. Would suggest more stops and picture ops as we only dismounted once in 2 plus hours. would do again on other tours.

My husband and I had a terrific time once we got the hang of the Segways and really enjoyed the sights.

I saw this tour last year on my annual visit from California to visit family. Much to my dismay, it was sold out for the days we required. So we booked it for this visit. It was well worth the wait. The tour was wonderful. Our guide was very informative and the guys who instructed us on the segway were wonderful I would recommend this trip to all my friends who might be traveling to Chicago one day. Thanks for a great day!

Segway tours are a fun-filled way to spend a warm & sunny morning in Chicago. You get to learn a bit and enjoy picking up a new skill of maintaining balance and compusre on a Segway.

Very good tour. My only suggestion would be at the beginning of the tour to do a bit more touring on the Segways. We had the training and then had to listen to his speech for 15 minutes idelling before we begin. Was difficult when you have just learnt how to use the Seaway.

A fun way to enjoy Chicago's awesome views

Positives: A truly unique and fun way to see the city and get around. What a memorable way to introduce our beautiful city! Could be better: The checking in process ate up too much time and was disorganized. It was hard for everyone to see and hear the safety video on a small laptop. Our CAF docent often focused on obscure local details which bored out of towners. He was "in training" so hopefully this doesn't happen all the time. Suggestion: I suggest asking the group if they are local or out of town first, so the docent can adjust his/her comments.

unorganized start

We arrived at the Segway office and there was one harried young man at the counter who tried to manage the crowd but was obviously overwhelmed. He could not meet the needs of the 2 large groups scheduled for tours, and repeatedly made desperate cell phone calls for help. Papers were not organized, and he had to ask several of us the same questions more than once, not able to listen to the answers because he was trying to do something else. We were told to gather around (20+ people) a laptop computer on a counter to watch a safety video hardly anyone could see. It was not designed for a person taking a tour, it was designed for a person who purchased a Segway and spent time talking about taking it out of the box and assembling it in addition to the safety portion. The laptop battery ran down 3/4 of the way through and the video was stopped. There were not enoudh safety vests in the facility for everyone on the tours. The entire tour started over 30 mintues late and some people needed to get refunds. Once the training for the Segway started outside and the Architecture Foundation started their portion of the tour, everything was fine. The tour itself was great, Segway staff helpful, and my only disappointment was we did not see all of the spots on the tour because of the 30 minute late start time. I definitely recommend the experience and the CAF tour, but htey need to make the check in process more streamlined and leave on time.
