| I signed me and my 14 year old son up for this experience at the last minute and it was one of the best experiences of our Chicago trip. The segway was great fun to ride and Mike our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great way to see Chicago, save on our feet and have loads of fun! |

| Riding a Segway through Chicago's museum district and along Lake Michigan is about the biggest change of pace in the city. Or, any city. First of all, people are looking at you constantly, probably envious that they're not doing this. The Segway people on Jackson help you select the right helmet and a garish orange vest with advertising and phone number all over it. You push your vehicle across the street to a walled courtyard to learn how it works. After twenty minutes, you are on your way in a line of 10 tourists to two guides. You sail down Lakeshore Drive on a very wide sidewalk, being sure to stop at the lights, and not roll into the street. First stop is Buckingham Fountain, and the cute college guide gives you the details. Then, to the museums - stopping in front of the Field, the planetarium, and the aquarium. Then, that tremendous overlook at the harbor - full of sailboats this warm October day. You can take pictures, roll around, and even talk to people not on Segways about your experience.
All too soon we are rolling back along the waterway, when angry bikers yell at you for hogging the entire walkway with your machines. If you don't know that bikers use the path, and that they are very angry people, you can be yelled at.
For $70/person and two hours, riding a Segway is a hoot. Would you ever want to own one? If you lived in a village and needed to go places in about a six mile radius, yes. If there are ample sidewalks without a million bumps, yes. If you are a cop in a large city park, yes. If you are healthy, WALK.
But, for two hours - it was neat to be a pop icon on wheels! |

| I visited Chicago with my sister and 15 year old nephew - booked this tour mostly because I thought the teenager would love it. He did, and we did - actually we were delighted with the whole experience. Learning to ride Segway took less than 5 minutes. People of all ages incl seniors were in our group and everyone was quickly able to handle the Segway within a few "practice" circuits of our starting area.
Tour guides were very helpful and entertaining as we wound through the park system. We got a great orientation of the waterfront from the aquarium and natural history museum to the south, up around Millenium park to the north, with Grant Park and the marina in between. If you are looking for a fun, active, unique experience this is it!! Worth the price - we will do it again and will want to exceed the 6 mph speed limit that is set for us beginners.
Be ready for the envious stares you get from other tourists! We were really glad we booked in advance because the city was very crowded on the weekend we visited (same weekend as the Airshow - also fabulous!) |

| Very enjoyable, the group leader was very informative. One member of the group declined to go on tour. He was worried about issues of balance and falling off the segway. |

| We braved the cold Chicago winter temperatures to go on this tour and it was well worth it! Our tour guide, David, was excellent. We really liked having the opportunity to ride Segways for the first time. We also enjoyed the Chicago scenery and information provided by our tour guide. Because it was winter, we were the only people on our tour - it was basically a private tour without a private tour price tag.
I would recommend this tour to anyone, regardless of age. Riding a Segway is really easy and a great way to see the city! Because you are able to cover more ground more quickly than walking, it is a great way to explore a new place. Try it out and you'll have a great time! |
