Just fantastic

We were on a twelve day five city trip, on which we did numerous tours, but the best by far was our Chicago Park Glide Segway tour. Our guide was patient, enthusiastic, interesting, and and knowledgeable about Chicago. During the first few minutes, as you are learning to use the Segways, you are sure that there's no way you will be able to do this well enough to go on a 2-hour, six-mile tour. However, in no time at all everyone in our group was successful and had a wonderful time. Someone even stopped us to ask how long we had to practice to get so good. I can't wait to do it again sometime.

Our guide was knowledgable about the city and an effective instructor for first time riders.

A lot of elements made this a very enjoyable experience. The Segways were easy to learn, despite the mild fears some of us had. Our guide was informative, attentive and interesting. The Chicago lakefront scenery, of course, is spectacular. The tour was just the right lenght for the first time. Every person in the group had fun. In all, we had a blast. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Short tour

Tour was unorganized, unprepared, and too large. Program did not start on time. It was a half hour before we were out of the facility and outside with the segways. Once outside, we spent another half hour reviewing what the video showed. Our tour guide told us that she would not be talking that much because she had to save her voice. Then what is the point of having a tour guide or a tour. Some of the segways dragged to the left, and had to resteer to keep straight. Also, some of the tires did not have enough air in them. One person on our tour had her battery die, and I did not see her for the rest of the tour. There are other segway tours that I have been on that were much better organized, had smaller groups or with large groups had more guides, went further, with three hours for the same price and had great tour guides. I would not recommend this tour group to any of my friends.

Both tour guides for the morning did not show up for work. Another person in the office had to take us out. The group was very large (16) vs usualy 8. 3 people had falls, no one got hurt, but the group leader did not know about 2 of the falls because she was too far ahead.

Beautiful Summer Day in the Windy City

My husband and I went on tour after hearing in-laws rave about it. There was a big group going out on tour, so it was split in half, with each group getting a guide. I was very nervous prior to stepping onto Segway, but after a few minutes my mind was at ease, so I could enjoy the beautiful sunny breezy Chicago afternoon. We went down to the lakefront, rode outside Soldier Field, Buckingham Fountain, and Grant Park to name a few. We stopped a couple of times in case anyone wanted to take pictures or just take a break. The tour guides went through a thorough orientation with us prior, watching a movie on Segways and once we went out, we were watched for a couple of minutes to make sure we caught on to the "experience." I would recommend this tour to anyone that enjoys the outdoors, and wants to do a little sightseeing at the same time.

Old Machines

Segway Experience of Chicago is the second of two segway tours I have taken (the other was City Segway Tours) and the other was far better - mainly because the machines were the newer models that are a million times easier and more pleasant to ride. Segway Experience of Chicago had an older model that turned from a hand lever instead of with your weight. It made for jerky awkward turning that felt more dangerous than the other place's. Both tours had almost no information about Chicago. Segway Experience's guide made some effort to pretend that this was a city tour, whereas the other guide gave up on the charade pretty quickly. But the trade-off for maybe two extra tidbits of information was that the Segway Experience guide was also much more uptight about letting us actually ride more than 10 yards away from him. Until they get some new machines, go for the other place.

Loved the Segway, and the tour!

I had only been on a Segway for a few minutes about four years ago, and my wife had never ridden one. We were in Chicago for the weekend, and decided to take the Grant Park/Museum Park tour. She was frankly terrified at first, and almost bailed. However, thanks to the excellent instruction from our guide, Matt, she quickly overcame her fear. She loved the tour, and so did I. Matt was a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, and kept the atmosphere light and friendly. There were only five in our group, including my wife and me. We liked it so much, we plan to do the Navy Pier tour the next time we're back in Chicago. For $75 per person, it's time and money very well spent!

Room for improvement

It was a beautiful day. Tour guide was friendly, polite, and helpful. Tour guide gave very little "tourist" history. We were disappointed that there was only a few sentences of Chicago history told to us. We would have been more saisfied with a more experienced guide.

We had a wonderful time and loved it.

It was a very different experience. A great way to get around and see the city. Had alot of fun and would gladly do it again. Took alittle while to get used to it, but with alittle practice it was pretty easy.
