Although I was a little nervous at first, I had a blast on the Segway! The instructor/tour guides were very thorough & made us all feel comfortable. We have told all our friends about it & it will be a great memory for us!

Excellent Tour for Locals and Visitors!

I am a Chicago resident and took the tour with my best friend who lives in Philadelphia. The tour had the perfect balance of interesting info about the areas covered in the tour, and moving around on the Segways (which was really the main attraction!). Jeff, our tour guide, was so personable and patient with those in our group who took a little longer to get the hang of the Segway. He had a great sense of humor and good stories to tell. Two hours was just the right length of time for the tour--although since the weather was perfect on the day we went, no one wanted to get off the Segways! One of the people in our group was in her late 60s and took a little longer to get a feel for how to move the Segway, but she did it and good for her! The minimum age for the tour is 12 and I think some 12-year-olds might not be good candidates unless they are mature (not daredevils), have good balance, and can understand the concept of shifting their weight to control the machine. I highly recommend this tour!

This was our second experience with a Segway Tour, the other being in Washington D.C. both have been wonderful. The tour guides were informative and definietly put safety first. As for getting accustomed to riding the Segway that took about 5 minutes. They are incredibly easy to manuever. We would recommend the experience for everyone.

Having previously seen people zipping about on Segways in various places, I looked forward to having this experience personally and was not disappointed. The orientation doesn't take much time athough to really feel completely at ease whilst driving your Segway not as part of a group with support staff along with you, would probably take a bit longer. But it's worth it in all respects! Lots of fun and a very different and pleasant way to see some of the great improvements in Chicago's parks. Take the plunge and sign up--it's a great 2 1/2 hours and the Segway staff is very supportive and helpful.

Fun on the segway

My husband and I purchased the segway experience for my brother and his wife for a Christmas present. What a wonderful time we all had!! Laura was just great and made our experience even more enjoyable. If I had one thing I would recommend - it would be more practice time upfront, so you feel more sure of your self driving the segway. Other wise a totally enjoyable experience!

Our guide was excellent and knowledgeable about Segway and about Chicago sights. I was nervous about learning to use the Segway but it turned out to be very easy and a very fun experience. It's great way see a lot without long, long walks or taking the buses, etc. Worth it!

This was a fun experience. It was a gorgeous day and after a training session we took off and had a great time touring Grant Park and the museum campus. The tour guide was informative and friendly, and made sure we were all operating the Segway safely and gave us plenty of warnings. This did not keep me from clipping a wheel on the final block and falling hard onto the sidewalk. In fact, out of 8, 3 of us had mishaps. Mine was definitely the worst, and I survived, but I would not recommend this trip for the elderly. I think we were adequately trained, but if you take this tour, know that accidents can happen and keep your attention on what you are doing - in my case another tour participant started up a conversation with me and I just looked away for a second. I would also recommend taking this trip early in the day when the streets and parks are not too crowded.

The weather was terrible, but we had a great time. Our guides were personable and knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed their jobs. $75 sounded steep at first, but if you've never ridden a Segway before, this tour is worth twice that much. Highly, highly recommended! Great "walking tour" for an older person.

Fantastic Wedding Activity

On the morning of my daughter's wedding, I scheduled a Segway tour for eight: all out-of-town guests for the wedding. We needed to change our Segway tour time and Amanda, the office manager, was extremely helpful in following through on our request. She made it possible for us to start the tour early so we could attend the groomsmen's lunch. There had been some concern (from the wives) that someone might have an accident or be injured on the day of the wedding. I had inquired about the accident rate and been told that it was not an issue. And it clearly wasn't. The group, ranging in age from 24 to 64, took about a minute to get the hang of it. It was great! Very intuitive and very easy to handle. Within moments, we were all rocking back and forth in place (great fun and a nice way to "feel" your relationship with the Segway) and then heading out and chatting easily as we toured the lakefront. Our guides were great, too: both very personable and just fun to be with. Jeff's commentary was always interesting and insightful. Mike was helpful, too, offering to take pictures and, in general, looking after our group. We covered Buckingham Fountain, the Museum Campus, Soldier Field, Millenium Park, the Bean and the Chicago Faces Fountain. The tour was over much too quickly. We could have gone another couple hours easily. But we had a full days' events to get to! Everyone agreed that the Segway tour was one of the highlights of the weekend and we all said that we would look forward to taking Segway Tours in other cities. But I'm definitely heading for the Chicago Segway Tour the next time I've got out-of-town guests in. The fun factor is off the charts!
