Our tour guide did a good job of teaching us how to use the Segways and the route of the tour was great.

Highlight of our summer!

Now that we have done this in our hometown we will do this when visiting other cities. We had out of town guests in from California it was a great introduction to Chicago and then they were able to visualize where else they wanted to go. My kids (16, 18 & 20) want to do the other tour from Navy Pier now. Best part was riding the Segway. We were there 30 minutes ahead of time everyone used the restroom and we started early because the taste was going on and it was very crowded in the streets. Tour guide was fabulous & fun. Recommended for all ages (our group was 16 to 50) everyone had a great time, bring a camera!

This is an incredible way to see the city and many of it's highlights! Our guide was really terrific (thanks Alex!) and did the best he could with a mid-size group of 7 people with varying degrees of comfort on the segway. We went on an extremely busy day (July 5th and a Saturday) and our guide was very calm and reassuring. The Segways are easy to operate, but do make sure that you allow yourself enough time to get comfortable with all aspects of the machine. It truly is a great way to have fun and see the city! We felt it was a good value and provided some great family time together, as well.

My husband and I took a tour during the Taste of Chicago. We both really enjoyed it! Great day, fun way to relax and enjoy the lake front!

Too crowed or too slow

I would've expected the route to be detoured while the Taste of Chicago was going on. Instead we went directly through the crowd and that wasn't fun at all. We had a couple of incidents due to the crowd (stumbling off Segway, etc). I suppose that may be why our Segways were set at such a slow speed. I've been on several tours in other states and we were always able to gradually increase the speed. When we finally got into open space, it was frustrating to only be able to go 6 miles an hour. The tour was ok, but I wouldn't do it again.

I flew into town from CA and surprised my best friend with a weekend adventure in Chicago. The massages were fine but the best part was the Segway Tour. Our guide was a hoot and the people in the group were up for fun and everyone was encouraging to each other. Thanks for a great time and your commitment to safety while still having a blast! Thank you so much! Angela

I was thrilled to be able to ride on a segway. We do not have tours with them where I live so I was glad to have that option when I visited Chicago. The experience was so great I almost didn't care if we just stayed in the immediate area. . . so the added benefit of going on a tour of the city just made it even better!

When I was given the opportunity to visit Chicago for a few days, I conducted internet research of the city's offerings to plan an itinerary. It was through this research that I learned of the Segway Experience of Chicago Park Glide Tour. A moderate sports enthusiast and seeker of new experiences, I was eager to try a Segway tour. In spite of having a strong desire to ride a Segway, I was initially a bit nervous and awkward in its use. I was too stiff and my movements jerky. But with a little practice I became more relaxed and fluid. I am grateful to Andrew our tour guide, as he was both patient and instructive. He even offered to take photos of me on my Segway along the way, something I appreciated as a solo tourist. I highly recommend a Segway tour, and this outfitter in particular. This Segway tour was both fun and informative. My thanks to the Segway Experience of Chicago team. Lauren

AWESOME Mike was such a great teacher and tour guide. Our group varied in age, but everyone was up to confident status on the segway after the short lesson and practice. Mike knew the facts about what he was showing us and was great at answering the questions and giving the extra tidbits of info along the way. We recommend this to anyone remotely thinking about it.

unorganized start

We arrived at the Segway office and there was one harried young man at the counter who tried to manage the crowd but was obviously overwhelmed. He could not meet the needs of the 2 large groups scheduled for tours, and repeatedly made desperate cell phone calls for help. Papers were not organized, and he had to ask several of us the same questions more than once, not able to listen to the answers because he was trying to do something else. We were told to gather around (20+ people) a laptop computer on a counter to watch a safety video hardly anyone could see. It was not designed for a person taking a tour, it was designed for a person who purchased a Segway and spent time talking about taking it out of the box and assembling it in addition to the safety portion. The laptop battery ran down 3/4 of the way through and the video was stopped. There were not enoudh safety vests in the facility for everyone on the tours. The entire tour started over 30 mintues late and some people needed to get refunds. Once the training for the Segway started outside and the Architecture Foundation started their portion of the tour, everything was fine. The tour itself was great, Segway staff helpful, and my only disappointment was we did not see all of the spots on the tour because of the 30 minute late start time. I definitely recommend the experience and the CAF tour, but htey need to make the check in process more streamlined and leave on time.

We went on a Segway tour last summer in St. Marteen that was nowhere as good as our tour in Chicago. We got to do a lot of riding, our guide was very knowledgeable, our group was just the right size, and the price was fair. We were also blessed with beautiful weather that day!

Highly recommend the segway tour. The segways are great fun, easy to ride, easy to learn (less than 2 minutes) and the guides are great fun too. the only problem is that when you hop off a segway and start walking away you just want to lean forward to go .,... which doesnt work all that well without a segway !!!

i expected to be able to take off on the segway from the get go, but the balance, stopping, turning took me about 30-45 minutes to feel comfortable. for a two hour tour that is a substantial amount of time, but nonetheless, the tour was fun and challenging. i would recommend of most anyone that is curious. we enjoyed a fairly uncrowded time of day at the parks, so that was a definite plus. i would not recommend trying to navigate through a crowd in grant park, for example. our tour guide was great at patiently explaining the techniques and focusing on safety. he did an excellent job!
