Fun and different

My fiance and I went on a belated Valentine's day date and this was one of our activities. Lindsay, our guide, was great. She definitely knew her stuff about chocolate (where it comes from, how it's made and the differences in types of chocolates). She took us to five spots. We each received two pieces of chocolate from the 5 places we visited. As someone who loves chocolate, this was my fiance's dream come true. We got different types of chocolates from all 5 places. We're definitely thinking of doing this again in one of the other locations. It was worth the price (and the biting wind)!

We got lucky, as it was just my girlfriend and I on the tour that day. Not only did our guide know what she was talking about, but you could also tell that she was a foodie in general and loved chocolates as much as we did. She was the perfect level of talkative as well - not so much that we felt like we were getting a lecture, but also kept us very well informed about the world of chocolate. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a fun afternoon in the city - especially because you get to walk off the beaten path a bit and get a taste of real New York.

I took my 12-year old daughter on this tour on a cold, rainy weekend afternoon. Because of the weather, we were the only ones on the tour. The guide was extremely nice, personable and knowledgable. Because of the weather, he emphasized some of the sellers of speciality hot chocolate as well as chocolate and truffles. We got more than enough to taste at each place and the owners knew our guide well and so we were bumped to the front of all the lines. Generally, a great time with truly delicious tastings.

Highly recommend this trip through some excellent gourmet shops throughout SoHo. Bert was a delightful guide, the staff in each shop was also very nice and helpful, but the chocolate was the real star. Worth the price, and then some.

Very pleasant walk around a great neighborhood, interesting to learn about the love behind chocolate making, Bert our guide was brilliant and followed up with additional information to help us with our trip to New York. He is the best and I still dont know which was my favorite chocolate, there were so many!

Something New for New Yorkers

Wanted to do something a little different for my boyfriend's birthday present, something we could enjoy together. Such a great afternoon. Our tour leader was friendly, knowledgeable, and surprisingly honest. (He told us why certain chocolates were his favorite, why some were just not up to par, and why others deserved to be spit out.) Not only did he know the history of the stores we visited, he also answered our questions regarding chocolate and its production. But nerdy stuff aside, it was fun and delicious, and we now know a few gems we probably wouldn't have found otherwise. WARNING: Do not eat for at least two hours prior to the tour. You must leave room for all these amazing treats. And remember to take risks. Sometimes the weird ones are the tastiest.

Bert, our tour guide, was very knowledgable, professional, and polite. He made the tour a lot of fun. We had a small group which was a plus. All of the stops on the tour had excellent chocolate. Well worth the time and money!
