How to see the real New York.
Fri, Aug 22, 08   3:30 PM BillyMee Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We have been on two New York Cultures Tours and they have both been fantastic. Last year we did the Food and Culture Tour with Berry. This year we did the Wine and Chocolate Culture tour with Burt. As I have said ,both were great, Burt and Berry are excellent guilds. We have recommended these tours to our friends who have all a great and informative time on the tours. When we plan our next visit to nyc a New York Tour with yourselves is a must. Kind regards.

The pace for this tour was good, we visited 5 locations with samples at each. As a local I wanted to be introduced to places I did know. The discovery of the Maribel shop was a gem. The tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would recommend this tour.

A fun time

This was a fun tour. Of course the chocolate tasted great and we were encouraged to try unusual tastes. Also, the tour guide was excellent and the tour was leisurely. We learned a lot about how chocolate was made as well as background on how each of the shops got started. The area of the city (SoHo) was also fun to see. Probably best not to do this tour in very hot weather.

We had so much fun on this tour. Bert, our tour guide was fun and informative. Every piece of chocolate we had was delicious. I can't wait to go on another tour!

A fun, unusual, and tasty experience

As a resident of neighboring NJ, I enjoy seeking out different things to do in NYC. When I came across the chocolate tour, I knew right away that it was a must for this chocolate lover and I didn't have to do much convincing for two friends to join me. It did not disappoint. Tour guide Burt was knowledgeable about how and where chocolate is made, the history, and the differences among the many chocolatiers. He was genuinely enthusiastic and seemed to be enjoying himself just as much as we were. Despite being regular NYC visitors, we were unaware of some of the places we visited and enjoyed his description of the offerings at each shop so that we could make informed decisions about what to try. The tour company could enrich the experience further with some kind of handout with, say, a history of chocolate, what to look for in chocolate, and maybe even a chocolate-related souvenir.

The NYC Luxury Chocolate Tour was a really good time and highly educational. I have lived in NYC for over 5 years but had never visited any of the shops on the tour. Our tour guide, Bert, was unbelievable knowledgeable about the chocolates themselves and how they are made. I would definitely make a point to request Bert as your tour guide. He was amazing!

I went on the NYC New Cuisine Chocolate Tour and it was amazing. I tried all kinds of chocolates that I have never seen or tasted before and it was unique experience. I also proposed to my girlfriend on this tour and the tour guide, Bert was so helpful and helped me set everything up and it was perfect! I highly recommend going on this tour, you won't regret it! I am definitely going back on the Luxuxy tour next time!

REALLY enjoyed our tour guide, who gave us just enough background info and LOVED the wine and chocolate pairings!! I had both chocolates and wines that I probably would not have chosen on my own, but now have learned enough to be dangerous when I go out!!! GREAT time and worth it!!!

The Perfect Chocolate Lovers Experience!

My two kids and I (11 & 15) went on the Luxury Chocolate tour lead by Burt. I expected it to be fun, but the tour exceeded those expectations. It was the "Burt Factor"! Burt was a delight, fun and pleasant but beyond that, he really knows chocolate - EVERYTHING about chocolate, and I thought I knew it all. He also was happy to answer so many other questions I had about visiting the city, and we followed his advice with great result. I will tell everyone that this tour is a MUST on their what to do in NYC list!

Both me and my mom are chocolate fanatics, and when coming upon this tour, we immediately signed up. Needless to say, the chocolates are absolutely out-of-this-world! Not only did we have a great time tasting the chocolates (with the tv crew filming us), our wonderful guide gave us a detailed history of chocolates, along with interesting facts that we never knew. High recommended!

Sweet tour that exceeded our expectations!

Recently, on a very, very, hot Sunday afternoon, my husband and I arrived in Manhattan for a cruise departing the following day. We had never been to Soho so decided we would kill two birds with one stone by taking the Chocolate Tour there instead of uptown and seeing the Soho area. We arrived at the appointed meeting area and were met by Bert, our guide who informed us we were the only two taking the tour that day! Being true chocaholics, a little heat wave would never have stopped us! The tour was amazing, especially given the private tour we were getting! Bert is extremely knowledgeable and equally personable and entertaining! Being that we own a candy and confection shop, we never thought we would learn as much as we did. When we return to the city, we will definately take one of the other chocolate tours!

Great tour, great service

We took the tour on a very hot day in mid-July 2008. For whatever reason, the other participants (not our party) had cancelled - leaving just the two of us with the guide. It was very professional of them not to cancel the whole tour. This left us to enjoy a "private tour". The tour is nice - there is some walking but the distances are not great. The chocolate shops are high-quality. There are 5 shops, and the tour includes 2 pieces of chocolate at each shop. And that is plenty! Plus, there is the opportunity to purchase...

Enjoyable afternoon with chocolate and wine

Two 60 year olds, one 40 year old and an eight year old. The tour leader was very nice and gave us many chocolate facts. Our grandson tried everything and was given extra chocolate instead of the wine. We visited five places, including a chocoate factory where we ate a number of chocolates and had each one explained. We all had a fun afternoon and didn't need dinner, except for our grandson who ate some pizza and wanted chicken soup after the pizza and chocolate!

Unexpected Highlight
Fri, Jul 11, 08   12:00 PM melli1 Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
We booked this tour rather last minute after reading some excellent reviews from the Guardian and online. Burt was our affable host who took us round 5 beautiful chocolate shops, each with their own distinct style and tastes! He was highly articulate and knowledgable on the subject of chocolate and both of us (my boyfriend and I) felt we learnt a lot from him! One of the main highlights for us was talking to a real local who knew the areas around town to recommend, what to look out for and sights/sounds not to be missed. Burt clearly had a good relationship with the chocolate shop staff as they all greated him like long lost friends and made us all feel very welcome. Thank you for providing this tour and we would recommend it to anyone going to New York! (P.S. you should set one up in London...)
