Happy Chocolate Lover

I am an avid chocoholic and loved this tour. It took me to some usual locations in New York City and I experienced some very tasty treats. The tour guide was great. He made it a lot of fun. He was very knowledgeable about the chocolate and New York City. This tour does involve some walking if you are not used to that.

For two chocoholics, we were in chocolate heaven. Curt our tour guide was waiting for us inside the first store. We lucked out and had a private tour, since the other group had cancelled. That was good news for us, but not for Curt. I'm sure our tip didn't help him much, hopefully he got some of the $70 from our tickets. The price was nearly twice that of the Foods of NY tour we took the next day. For the money, this one was not worth it. Although we really enjoyed it, it was pricey. We went to 5 high end chocolate shops. Curt knew everything about making chocolates and knew each shop owner. He gave personal recommendations, but we were able to select two chocolates from each shop. We also got hot chocolate in one shop and sipping chocolate in another, as well as a cupcake. We weren't able to eat it all and started wrapping it to go near the end. It was a great tour, but if you only have time for one - I recommend the Food of NY tours - either Greenwich Village or Chelsea Meatpacking District.

FABULOUS Fun

The New Cuisine Chocolate Tour is about as much fun as one can legally have - and this from someone who doesn't particularly like chocolate! (I chose it as a birthday gift for a chocoholic friend.) The tour guide was terrific - charming, as full of information as enthusiasm, and a wonderfully pleasant companion and guide. The places we visited provided a variety of styles, architecture, and amibance as well as fabulous tastes, and the walk from LES to Soho was delightful. Basically two perfect hours.

My friends and I attended the NYC luxury chocolate tour on Dec. 22nd. Our tour guy Burt was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It was evident that he enjoys what he does and was able to share that enthusiasm with us. He had some good recommendations and took us to some unique places. Loved Richart and Piere Marcolino. It was a pretty cold day but the walk was not bad at all, even with lots of tourists around. Great idea to recommend taking a bottle of water with you. I couldn't eat any more chocolate by the last stop but I did learn about new stores that I could refer friends to and which I would definitely visit again in the future. Definitely a tour for serious chocolate lovers only.

Great until the last stop...

My friend and I had did this for our friend's birthday gifts and she loved it. Bert was great - informative and entertaining, and his enthusiasm spread to all the members of the group. Our only problem was with the last place we went, Debauve & Gallais. It seemed like the clerk working at the time was annoyed w/our presence in the store and he came off as kind of rude. And when other customers came in, he ran over to them to apologize for us being in the store, like we were ruining the place. It seems to me that if Debauve & Gallais is that unhappy w/tour customers being in their shop, they should take themselves off the itinerary. This unpleasantness didn't ruin our experience overall though - we would definitely recommend this tour to others who love chocolate as much as we do... Thanks again, Bert!!

I recently took this tour and was very happy with the whole experience! I've had some of the chocolate makers they take you to on the tour but had never been to visit them. It was interesting to see their facilities and chat with the chocolatiers. Our guide was fun, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I must warn you though, this tour involves a LOT of chocolate, you gotta pace yourself, don't make the same mistake I did...

So happy we were able to take this tour

We throughly enjoyed this chocolate tour. Burt was extremely informative and very nice. The two hours flew by! Burt answered everyone's questions and provided much fun along the way to the chocolate shops. We looked so forward to this activity and it far exceeded our expectations. We can hardly wait to return to NYC to take the other chocolate tour Burt does. Even if you aren't a fan of chocolate, you need to take the tour to meet Burt, he was so much fun.

I wasn't quite sure what kind of a tour this would be, but was impressed with the knowledge of the surrounding area that our tour guide had. He was charming and very personable. Except for the chocolate company that we visited that actually made the chocolate on the premises we had no contact with anyone other then the counter people who gave us the chocolate upon our arrival. By the time we arrived at our final destination I wasn't really interested in tasting any more chocolate. I love chocolate, but was more interested in the interesting information that we learned on the way.

I loved this tour and so did my friends. At frist I thought it was too expensive but I love chocolate so I opened my mind and said let's do it. The guide ,Bert, was great and his knowledge of chocolate was even better. I WAS only a milk chocolate person before this tour. I tried the dark chocolate and was amazed at what good dark chocolate can taste like. Walking made it seem like we were following a trail of chocolate from one place to the next. I was very glad that we went and would do it again when we come back to New York

The chocolate tour was one of the highlights of our long weekend trip. Bert was an amazingly knowledgeable and extremely personable guide who explained each shop's specialties along with its history and character. The samples were exquisite and we enjoyed each shop's unique offerings. We did return to a couple shops later to purchase chocolates we had tasted or to choose something entirely different. Thanks you for allowing us to experience a totally unique side of New York City! I can't wait to return to New York and do the Soho Chocolate Tour next! Highly and enthusiastically recommended!

My girlfriends and I GREATLY enjoyed our tour with Bert. If was very pleasant, easy to talk to, VERY knowledgeable, and made the day a great day. We learned a lot, had great chocolate, and are going to make this a yearly thing! Would it be possible to looking into something similar that would explore the use of chocolate in cuisine as a savory ingredient? We will definitely be coming back for the Fri tour (vs Sat), the new cuisiine tour, and the wine and chocolate tour. Thank you! Dana
