Chocolate, chocolate!!!

I found that the tour was a little too generic. Our guide was very informative on the different shops we went to, explaining the differences between each. However I feel that more demonstrations would have made the tour more interesting. Even if we saw the tempering process it would have been more than just eating chocolates. The other thing is we both found the time a little off. It would be more amenable to have the tour after the lunch hour.

Good

I really enjoyed the tour. We got to sample two pieces of chocolate-usually our choice-from the five different chocolate shops,so you didn't get a chocolate over dose. The shops were all very different from one another, like one was English, and another was French. Different combinations too. One place had a tomato and basil based chocolate, which was interesting. Good pace, each place gave a little talk of its founder, and we learnt a bit about what to look for in a good quality chocolate.

Chocolate lovers unite!

Being the chocoholic of the family, I didn't hesitate to book the chocolate tour in NYC! My family obliged in joining me. After our first stop at Saks 5th Avenue's chocolate cafe my kids were sold and commented that this is going to be the best tour ever! It's educational, fun and exceptionally sweet! We appreciated the pace of the tour as it allowed us to meet and talk to others. Bert guided us through our choices and we enjoyed his humor and love for chocolate! It was a great way to be introduced to the complexities of chocolate making and we loved trying selections we would never usually make! The tour has changed my children's idea of what great chocolate is and commented that the average chocolate bar just isn't going to cut it anymore! So parents, beware! This tour is going to give you the real thing and nothing compares to the best of the best when it comes to chocolate! Chocolate lovers from St. Albert, Alberta, Canada

Midtown Chocolate tour

first, apologies for the very long delay in writing; this does not at all reflect ANY negative feelings about the tour. I am a born-and-bred New York who now lives in Israel and joined the tour on a recent visit to NY. The Friday tour I joined had about 6 people, as I recall, all women. The guide (can't recall his name now, apologies) was wonderful - very friendly, patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and most important - a true chocoholic. Even tho I eat kosher, I found the data I received (and the chocolatiers we visited) sufficiently informative to know which items I could taste and which not - and I was able to enjoy samples in every store, so didn't feel 'left out' at all! The tour was one of the most fun parts of my visit to NY and even tho I lived there all my life till I moved to Israel, this introduced me to a fun and delicious part of NY I never would've been able to learn about or visit in such a coordinated, informative and delicious way! The price seemed a bit steep at first, but given the (generously) large number of samples we enjoy, and their retail cost, it really wasn't that painful an investment at all. Highly recommended!

It was a very nice trip, learning about the chocolate. It's good to have fine chocolate with different flavors. It feels fresh and awsome! And the guide, did a great job, she was lively and she obviously enjoys doing this.

Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable, he made time for each guest and was very conscientious of the warm day and was accommodating to requests for breaks - and stops at the ATM! This tour was a great way to experience chocolate in a way we wouldn't have otherwise, and to take a walking tour with an experienced guide was a real treat - just like having a friend in New York. Be sure to book the tour early in your schedule so you have time to go back and visit the places that were your favourites, not to mention all the high end stores you pass along the way. Highly recommended for any chocolate lover no matter how familiar you are with New York.

A Memorable Memorial Day Tour!

We can't recommend this tour enough! We found the New Cuisine Tour on-line and since we like to take in culinary events whenever we are visiting somewhere interesting we chose your Chocolate Walking Tour. We've been telling all our friends that it was the highlite of our NY experience! Bert, our guide, was great fun: personable and extremely knowledgable. Though it was very hot over the Memorial Day weekend we were able to zip into one of the many chocolate shops to cool down and sample their wonderful specialties. Bert's idea of providing "cold pak bags" was brilliant as it allowed us to buy gifts for all our friends without worrying about them melting during the tour or before getting them back to our hotel. Our teenage guest also loved this tour so Thank You NYChocoTours for a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to the Chocolate Paved Streets of New York!

Well worth the experience!!!!

This was my first time in NY and the first tour I completed. I found the tour guide to be fun and informative and the group mix of people consisted of international and individuals from across the USA , with one common interest. LETS EAT CHOCOLATE!!!! Being able to walk from one store to another gave you the opportunity to speak to others and also take in the sites. The variety and differenc of the 5 stores visted made for a good cross section of sellers, so I was pleased to get to try different makers and blends of flavours. Of course the down side to the tour was we only got to sample 2 from each location!!!. This meant I had to buy more which was sooooo hard to do as I struggled to find the best ones as they all were so good.!!!! None the less I would highly recommended this tour to anyone ( which I already have) and I will do it again next time I visit NY. Thanks for a great experience and great chocolates to indulge myself with :)

Bert, our guide, was very knowledgeable and even provided some details which the chocolatiers didn't! He was very pleasant and enthusiastic about his job. I would definitely recommend the tour for people of all ages - there's something for everyone.

This activity was so much fun. We love chocolate and it was fun to learn more about it. Each store had a different flare and approach to making chocolate. It was fast paced and entertaining. I would recommend this tour. I ordered additional chocolate from 4 of the 5 stores so far.
