Great time!

I loved the tour, we got to taste a lot more chocolate than I anticipated, all you can eat at the first one. It was a good distance and the tour guide, Bert, was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable and very friendly. The only drawbacks were there wasn't enough tasting samples at the chocolate studio and one of the pastry shops...one piece seemed like kind of a rip off. Also, we didn't drink much wine, only two glasses...so maybe I'd do just the regular chocolate tours. All in all though, I loved it and my mother throughly enjoyed it. It was Mother's Day gift for her. However, when I told her the price she seemed to think it wasn't worth the money...so I don't know. I loved it though, so two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Great Tour Despite the Rain

The tour was wonderful, even in the rain! Loved the pairing of wine and chocolate. This is the second tour I've been on with this company. Both times we had Bert as our tour guide. He is excellent. He offers wonderful tidbits about the city between stops. Would highly recommend this one & the luxury chocolate tour. Can't wait to do the New Cuisine tour too.

Fun, Informative, and Simply Delicious!

What a great tour! I highly recommend this activity to any chocolate lover. Our tour guide was extrememly informative about the chocolate-making process, and the shops were welcoming, friendly, and beautiful! The samples were unbelievably delicious and the tour guide was very descriptive about the various tastes and how the chocolatiers achieved the specific chocolate. A very fun, well-spent 2 hours in Manhattan's SoHo!

Great afternoon tour!!

I purchased the tour as a birthday gift for my chocolate loving husband. He's a big fan of the Hershey's kind of chocolate, so I wasn't sure if he was going to like this tour, because it is a higher end kind of chocolate. Well, I shouldn't have worried. He absolutely loved the tour! Our tour guide was Bert, and he really knew his dark chocolate from his milk chocolate. Our group was 3 groups. We were on time, and the other two were a bit tardy. Bert was great calling them to give them updates, so that they could join the tour when we had moved to the next store. Luckily, they got there before we left. The descriptions of the chocolate were spot on, and Bert had very nice recommendations for us. We visited five shops, and had plenty of time for purchases after tasting. If you think you won't get enough chocolate, think again. We got to choose 2 pieces in each shop, and we also got a couple of chocolate drinks, besides. My husband at all of his on the spot, but I had half of mine wrapped to go. If you do that, be careful they don't get crushed in your bag. They are incredibly delicious, but very fragile! My husband is always ready to eat anything chocolate. However, by the end of the day, he said that for the first time in his life, he had eaten enough chocolate for the next two weeks!!! That was a successful tour in my eyes. This was to be a day of chocolate, so we went over to Max Brenner's for an early dinner. Needless to say, we weren't really very hungry. But, Max Brenner's was very disappointing. The food wasn't hot, the food just wasn't very tasty or well prepared, service stunk, and we were very disappointed with them. We should have gone somewhere else to eat, and much later in the day. We didn't have time to visit the M&M's store in Times Square, but it's on our list for next time. So, if you want to have the ultimate chocolate experience, take this tour. It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Based on the website my wife and I decided to take this tour. Our tour guide (Bert) is who really made the tour worth while. He was both knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We went to five different high-end chocolatiers andr eceived tastes at each place along with some history lessons. The tour was a bit on the pricey side. However, we had fun and would recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate.

Mix-up with meeting spot.

The tour was A LOT of walking! Unfortunately we had to do more walking than normal because we were given the incorrect meeting location so we had to walk several blocks to meet our tour guide before the tour even started. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgable. The third stop was my least favorite. I didn't think the chocolate chip cookie was very impressive and the hot chocolate was like thick pudding. We enjoyed all of the other stops.

The tour guide was excellent, informative and very flexible. Did a great job catering to everyone's needs. Learned a lot and tasted some great chocolate. Would highly recommend the tour. Live in the city and now know where to go in the future for good chocolate.

This was a great way to taste wonderful chocolate and see the sights of Soho. Burt was a wonderful tour guide and we learned so much about chocolate and the area we were touring. He was very fun, personable and able to answer any questions about the city. This is a great way to explore NYC in a non traditional way. I highly recommend this tour. Prepare yourself for some mouth watering chocolate!!!

SWEET!

Spring and chocolate in New York. It doesn't get better than this. Our host was as hospitable as he was knowledgable. We tasted a (very) generous amount of chocolate in a variety of venues, a number of which we would have never discovered on our own. I particularly enjoyed that fact that, if we wished, we could substitute a pastry for chocolate at some venues. Just don't plan on eating dinner any time soon after this tour.

A wonderfully pleasant experience

We didn't know quite what to expect, but it turned out to be one of the true highlights of our visit to New York. Our tour guide (Bert) made the expereince even more enjoyable with his humor, his knowledge, and his genuinely friendly attitude. He came across as a true chocolate lover and eager to share his passion. Moreover, he conveyed facts with an informal yet interesting style. To put it simply we were super impressed with him. We plan to return to New York in June with our nieces and high on our "to do" list is this tour. We can't wait to share it with them. Finally, we learned enough from Bert about chocolate that we purchased several varieties of drinking and sipping chocolates to try here at home. Of curse, we also had to bring home a supply of the eating variety too. We would (and already have) enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone with even the slightest interest in chocolate or in just having a pleasant afternoon.

I took my step mom as a gift. She is a real chocoholic. We LOVED the tour. Bert was great. Sometimes tour guides can be cheesy, but Bert was not at all. He was pleasant, informative, fun, and laid back. We had a GREAT time. The chocolate was great. A real fun way to see the city. We ended the day with dinner at Max Brenner. Yum!

I got tickets to this as both a valentine's day gift for my chocoholic husband as well as a birthday gift for my sister-in-law. We all went together and had a great time. Discovered some wonderful new places and just really enjoyed spending the day out together in this manner. Aside from the fact that all the chocolate along the way was absolutely divine, the tour itself is a very original and fun way to spend an afternoon in mid-town.

Great Tour

Great tour, very informative, learned a lot about the history of chocolate, where it is grown, how it evolved. Especially loved the tastings and pairing the chocolate with wine as well as the variety of types of chocolate and other pastries. We have recommended this tour to several of our friends who would like to take the same tour when next they are in New York.

Different from normal activity
Sun, Jan 13, 08   12:30 PM wfleming Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
Had a lot of fun, probably because, in order, (1) it was an activity of a type we would not normally be exposed to, and (2) it was interesting and informative with respect to its subject matter. As a resident, it would not normally occur to me to take a tour of anything. But there is a distinct and favorable difference between being taken on a tour and exploring something yourself.
