It was one of the highlights of our trip

I attended the Chocolate tour with my 24 year old daughter. We made reservations on line so really was not sure how it was going to turn out. I must say not only were we surprised but it was one of the major highlights of our trip to New York. This was the first time (other than 2 hours 7 years ago) we had an extended trip in New York. Our guide not only told us alot about Chocolate that we never knew he also gave us an asume tour of New York as we went place to place. We still talk about it and I tell all my friends that this is a must do tour when they go to New York. I want to thank you all so very much, it was great. Gary D. Jones

The tour was very informative and fun. The tour guide was very knowledgable and really cared that we received the full experience of the tour. However, by the 5th shop we were over indulged with chocolates we needed to take them in a to-go bag!

Thank you, Bert, for guiding us through the delicious and fun stops on the wine and chocolate tour! We had so much fun. We laughed, ate, and drank drinking wine and chocolate, which we all wonderful. Your expertise on chocolate, wine, and the city was greatly appreciated as were your informational and interesting sidelines. I recommend this tour and hope to be going on more Sweet Walks! I look forward to seeing you as our guide again.

This tour was interesting - not only for locating fine chocolate shops that I would not have found on my own, but for the knowledgable guide. Bert was very friendly, interesting and informative. I was unaware of the number of different things one should know about fine chocolates. I would suggest making sure to eat something or have a starch filled snack with you since the infusion of chocolate sort of makes you "high". I enjoyed this tour and am planning to do another walking tour with Bert when we return to NY in the fall.

Despite heavy rain - did not disappoint!

Our tour guide Burt was just great. From the minute we met him at the 1st chocolate shop, he was very engaging. He definitely knows his chocolate history, but at the same time, didn't bore with too much detail, and allowed for plenty of eating and tasting time. The weather in the city was rainy, cold, and windy, and the city was packed with shopping tourists for the Christmas season, but even with a group of 13 people, he managed to keep us all in good spirits and somehow managed to keep us together! I found out about this tour online by mistake, but it turned out to be a great mistake. I highly recommend it to any chocolate lover, or to anyone who has a "special someone" who is a chocolate lover.

It was so much fun - I really recommend the tour to any chocolate addict! Two pieces per store may seem too few at first but the chocolate you taste is so rich that it is just the right amount. The tour guide was great: knowledgeable, fun, enthousiastic and very passionate about chocolate! Thanks for the lovely afternoon!

And I thought WINE was complicated!

A really fun activity for anyone who enjoys chocolate - and who doesn't? I knew little about the process of growing, harvesting, drying, refining, and producing chocolate, so it was useful to get an overview from our guide. Coming from northern California, where we "grow" wine, I found striking similarities in how chocolate is assessed and judged - where and how it is grown, how it is treated during and after harvest, different ways to extract the flavor, how to blend it for shipment, and how to describe the various flavors when it is eaten. We were given this tour as a Christmas present. Our tour was the Saturday following Thanksgiving and, although our group was relatively small, making our way through the crowds from one shop to the next was a challenge. I would suggest picking a time when the crowds are smaller so you can interact with the other tour members and the guide while walking. The five shops we visited presented a good perspective on how chocolate can vary in flavor and presentation. Everything we ate was glorious, but we particularly enjoyed getting hot chocolate at two of the locations. We definitely are going to try to find a way to reproduce these drinks and serve them over the holidays.

OVERPRICED
Sat, Feb 14, 09   12:30 PM ferjanabegum Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
$70 dollars for 10 pieces of chocolate, I would say it is a little overpriced. We got to taste different types of chocolate, but I thought that we would get to see how it is made but we didnt get to see that. She said we would get to see how they made the chocolates, she pretty much took us to different stores and we ate chocolates, thats it...She was very nice, and was a good guide.

The Chocolate Tour was very good. We went to 5 different chocolate places and tried different types of chocolates and hot chocolates. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the different types of chocolates and also gave us some tips on things to do and eat in the city.

We absolutely loved this tour and Burt our guide! He was so sweet and personable and we had great conversation with him as we traveled from shop to shop. The chocolate was delicious and it was so exciting to see and sample all the different styles and flavors. It was definitely worth the money and we would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

I changed my mind about La Maison du Chocolat. I had gone there at least 20 years ago and was disppointed because there was no milk chocolate. But Saturday I found out they do, indeed, have milk chocolate, so I'll be going there (especially since Saks, my favorite department store, stopped carrying Neuhaus). La Maison was the highlight for me; Pierre Marcolini came in second. Richart came in last for me. I was disappointed we didn't visit Martine's (much better than some of our visits).
