What a great way to spend an afternoon
Sun, Jun 15, 08   12:30 PM burnsdl Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Having taken the deluxe chocolate tour in March my wife and I knew we were in for a treat when we signed up for the New Cuisine Chocolate Tour. We knew the chocolate would be great, but most of all we knew with Bert leading the tour, that the whole expereince was going to be informative and fun. We brought our nieces and their mom along for this tour and I'm not sure the nieces were sure they would like it, but after meeting Bert and after that first chocolate shop, they were thrilled. The shops (and the samples) are, of course wonderful, but what makes this especially enjoyable is the way Bert combines just the right amount of information (explained simply and clearly) with all of the great chocolate. He is a truly personable, enthusiastic young man who loves sharing his love of chocolate with everyone. He is the best tour guide we have ever encountered. We get to New York a few times a year and we're looking forward to our next visit so we can hook up with Bert again for the Union Square chocolate tour. These tours are more than worthwhile, they are a real treat and one of the highlights of a visit to New York. Don & Kathleen Burns

I would say this tour should be around $40.

I found this tour interesting and informative and maybe somewhat overpriced. Never the less, we all did have a good time.

Both tasty and informative tour

We enjoyed both the chocolate and the guide's extensive knowledge. He was great. It was not too far to walk and there were restroom opportunities. There was adequate time at each stop. I would have brought a bottle of water with me if it was suggested ahead of time.

Good for chocolate lovers.

Based on the website my wife and I decided to take this tour. Our tour guide (Bert) is who really made the tour worth while. He was both knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We went to five different high-end chocolatiers andr eceived tastes at each place along with some history lessons. The tour was a bit on the pricey side. However, we had fun and would recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate.

We thought the guide was very good, he knew his stuff. If you like chocolate then you will love this tour. Our wifes enjoyed the tour more than us, the history of the shops and there owners was very interesting.

I brought my girlfriend for her Birthday. She is passionate about chocolate and I wanted to do something that she would get something out of. She had a great time and although she knows a lot about chocolate she still learned a lot. Myself, not being nearly as studied on the topic had a great time as well.

A wonderfully pleasant experience

We didn't know quite what to expect, but it turned out to be one of the true highlights of our visit to New York. Our tour guide (Bert) made the expereince even more enjoyable with his humor, his knowledge, and his genuinely friendly attitude. He came across as a true chocolate lover and eager to share his passion. Moreover, he conveyed facts with an informal yet interesting style. To put it simply we were super impressed with him. We plan to return to New York in June with our nieces and high on our "to do" list is this tour. We can't wait to share it with them. Finally, we learned enough from Bert about chocolate that we purchased several varieties of drinking and sipping chocolates to try here at home. Of curse, we also had to bring home a supply of the eating variety too. We would (and already have) enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone with even the slightest interest in chocolate or in just having a pleasant afternoon.

A Great Birthday Present

The choice of shops was great! It was really interesting to see so many places that I did not know existed even after living in NYC for so many years. It was great to pass by the Lindt and Godiva shops without so much of even a mention. The tour guide was friendly and knew a lot about chocolate. I would suggest this to New Yorkers and visitors as a great "beneath the surface" was to explore NYC.

I took my wife on this tour as part of an anniversary celebration trip to New York. It was wonderful. Bert, our tour guide, was knowledgeable about not only chocolate, but also about the history behind each of the shops we visited. I would definitely attend another tour. The chocolate samples were delectable. My only complaint is we could not have more!

best choco confections i've ever tasted.

I highly recommend this tour. For the price, I had high expectations of the tour, and it by far exceeded them. The tastings were fantastic, everything from balsamic vinegar chocolates, to curry choco. It was a unique perspective of chocolate confections that I've never even heard of, nor expected to taste so great. Even after the tour, I ended up going back to a few of my favorite spots on the tour, and I'm sure i'll be back to each one on my tours back. Bert, our tour guide, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We had a tour group of 6, which was a great size and great people. They definitely helped with the experience. was explaining this tour to a friend, and my friend asked me, if I could just tell her all the places we visited, and she'd just go there herself, without a tour. But, I told her, the tour experience with Bert was well worth the cost, and I would assume that any other tour guides would be of the same caliber. I've heard that groups can get as large as 13 people. Not sure if I can say the experience was any better with less people. I i definitely enjoyed the intimacy of our small group.

Different from normal activity
Sun, Jan 13, 08   12:30 PM wfleming Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
Had a lot of fun, probably because, in order, (1) it was an activity of a type we would not normally be exposed to, and (2) it was interesting and informative with respect to its subject matter. As a resident, it would not normally occur to me to take a tour of anything. But there is a distinct and favorable difference between being taken on a tour and exploring something yourself.
