Chocolate/walking tour

The tour was led by Burt , who was very helpful and knowledgable about chocolate. The two pieces at each location were very small - as good chocolate should be - but the price of the tour for two little pieces at five locations seemed to be costly. At a couple of places, samples in addition to our two allotted pieces were passed around. The day was hot and humid and I couldn't make it to the fifth and final and most expensive chocolate shop. Later in the afternoon, Burt called and said he had my chocolate with him and would bring it to me if I happened to be anywhere around the area. All in all, I thought it was fun. I really am a chocoholic but I didn't buy any chocolate because it would have melted in the heat. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had a group of five and that was a nice-sized group.

Really enjoyed the tour. Burt (hope I spelled that right) was great. Would be happy to do other tours. Really enjoyed the experience.

I found that the tour was a little too generic. Our guide was very informative on the different shops we went to, explaining the differences between each. However I feel that more demonstrations would have made the tour more interesting. Even if we saw the tempering process it would have been more than just eating chocolates. The other thing is we both found the time a little off. It would be more amenable to have the tour after the lunch hour.

Our tour guide's name was Bert. He was very easy going, very familiar with his subject ( chocolate). Our group were all adults which was very nice. All in all a very nice NY moment. I would definitely recommend to others ( I already have).

Our guide was very knowledgable about chocolate and the establishments we visited. His enthusiasm enhanced the experience! And his other helpful information (location of bathroom facilities, etc) was appreciated as well. My adult daughter and I enjoyed the tour immensely. And the fact Burt was willing and able to pace the walking to meet the needs of the group was great. I walk very fast, but not everyone does, and he kept us at a pace all could manage and enjoy.

fun but not worth $70.00

It was a lot of fun and me and my wife learned a lot. but we thought it was not worth the $70.00 if you did like at least 3 more stops. which would be 8 stops it will be worth the $70.00 I say for $50.00 is a better price.

Bert was our guide and he was awesome. He knew his chocolate and he made us all feel very comfortable. He kept us at a nice pace, so no one got left behind. We also got to pick our own stuff and that is why I liked this tour better then another food tour I did. I know I should not have gone on a chocolate tour, but to be honest I do not crave chocolate at all, this was more something to do while in NYC. But now I know what good chocolate is and if i ever have a craving I will order the better stuff.

A wonderful and most delicious experience!

As native New Yorkers, our tour guide Bert helped us discover some wonderful places that we never knew existed. We were particularly impressed with his knowledge and input, but most of all with his warm and pleasant personality. We enjoyed the fact that the size of the group was small, so that everyone was able to get to know one another and bond. And the chocolates were absolutely ethereal!!!! Thanks so much for everything, and we would love to repeat this experience some time again in the future.

Our tour guide was very energetic and knowledgable about chocolate. It was fun checking out these quaint and almost "under the radar" hot spots. She kept the mood light and her eclectic background made for stimulating conversation. Highly recommended!

This was my first time in NY and the first tour I completed. I found the tour guide to be fun and informative and the group mix of people consisted of international and individuals from across the USA , with one common interest. LETS EAT CHOCOLATE!!!! Being able to walk from one store to another gave you the opportunity to speak to others and also take in the sites. The variety and differenc of the 5 stores visted made for a good cross section of sellers, so I was pleased to get to try different makers and blends of flavours. Of course the down side to the tour was we only got to sample 2 from each location!!!. This meant I had to buy more which was sooooo hard to do as I struggled to find the best ones as they all were so good.!!!! None the less I would highly recommended this tour to anyone ( which I already have) and I will do it again next time I visit NY. Thanks for a great experience and great chocolates to indulge myself with :)

Carmen was great, very helpful and nice. Be prepared to be indulgent and spoiled! My mom and I loved every minute of it. Be sure you use the bathrooms at Saks before the tour because there are no bathrooms on the tour. La Masion du Chocolat has the best chocolate. Try the caramel and mint ganache, amazing!

Definitely a fun thing to do on a Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day which made it very enjoyable. Nice walk around the UES and some good chocolates to go along with it. Made for a fun day and a memorable experience in Manhattan.

My sister was in town visiting for her birthday weekend in NYC and we took the tour with Bert on a Friday afternoon. It was fantastic. As a local New Yorker, I had visited some of the chocolate shops on the tour, but most of them were a new experience for me -- they were all fabulous. Bert was an excellent tour guide -- extremely knowledgable about the art and history of chocolate. My sister and I had a great time (we were a bit spoiled too, because it was just the two of us, and it was like having a private tour guide). My understanding and appreciation of fine chocolate has gone way up. Loved it!

I purchased this tour as a present for my Mother's 51st B-Day. I had previously gone on the uptown Luxury tour with my girlfriend, and had very high expectations after having such an enjoyable experience there. To my delight I found that the same tour guide was doing the downtown tour as well, and not only that, the whole group was just my mother and I! It's extremely impressive to me that, despite the small crowd, the tour was not canceled and the tour guide was just as bright and friendly as he had been on the uptown tour (except on that tour there was about 15 people, not just 2!) We had an absolutely fantastic time and really got to discover some of the chocolate treasures surrounding So-Ho. My mother did nothing but rave about what a good time she had afterwards. As a note to others hoping for a possibly smaller group... Sundays, according to our guide is the slowest day. As I previously stated, I've attended tours through this company with larger, and now with very intimate groups, no matter what the size is, you can't miss!
