Interesting but expensive

Obviously interesting as most people do not know a lot about chocolate. The guide was superb. Very well informed on the subject and charming. Hard to eat all the samples ( 30 $ worth of chocolate) in 2 hours.

Absolutely Fabulous!!

I picked out this tour for my girlfriend because as a New Yorker, I knew she'd never done anything like this before, and since she loves chocolate, I thought she'd really enjoy it. Bert (our guide) was fabulous! He was friendly, knowledgeable and fun to hang out with for those two and a half hours. Our group was small, only 8 of us total, and it was the perfect size.We learned so much about chocolate we'll never be able to look at it the same again! I sincerely recommend this tour as something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon. It was everything I hoped it would be, and more! She absolutely loved it! Now we want to do the downtown tour!!

A real highlight

I wasn't sure what to expect on this tour but it turned out to be a real highlight of my trip. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable about chocolate, but also was down to earth and extremely personable. We visited 5 different chocolate shops over the span of about a 20 block walk (we walked at an extremely leisurely and reasonable pace though so the walk didn't seem bad at all). It was quite interesting learning about the different styles and techniques relating to the differing shops. My wife was ill and unfortunately couldn't make the tour but I was allowed to get her samples (to go) from each shop thanks to the wonderful guide. I can't recommend this tour enough. The next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be doing the other tour (by this company) in Soho.

Great tour - well led, well paced, and with five unique and delicious stops. I highly recommend to foodies both from out of town and locals.

Fabulous Time

It was an excellent experience. Our tour guide Bert/Burt, was amazing! I had signed up for the tour with my girlfriend for her Birthday, and before the tour began I wrote a couple of notes regarding food allergies and our reason for the tour. Come the tour date, the first thing our guide did after greeting us was wish my girlfriend a warm happy birthday, which I thought was quality. He clearly knew everything there is to know about chocolate, and made the tour exciting, informative, and fun. These chocolate stores are delicious as well! Definitely unforgettable and to be revisited. Divalicious, Marie Belle, Vosges, Kee, and Jacques Torres are all unique in flavor as well as their personalities. It was a great time, and a very enjoyable 2 hr tour.

Great tour and great chocolate!

I recently took this tour and was very happy with the whole experience! I've had some of the chocolate makers they take you to on the tour but had never been to visit them. It was interesting to see their facilities and chat with the chocolatiers. Our guide was fun, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I must warn you though, this tour involves a LOT of chocolate, you gotta pace yourself, don't make the same mistake I did...

Great time! Well worth the time and price!

This was my THIRD chocolate adventure with Bert! And, as usual, the experience was entertaining and educational and well worth my precious time while visiting the best city in the world! The chocolatiers we visitied seemed enthusiastic about the opportunity to tell us about their products and the addition of bakery thoughts was a nice new wrinkle. If you haven't discovered the Union Square neighborhood yet, this tour is a must just to get Bert's perspective of this incredibly interesting part of NYC ...to say nothing about the delicious port served at our first stop!!

The 2.5 hour walking tour was very special. The guide was informative and entertaining, I learned a lot about chocolate in general and chocolate making in NYC. You get to choose 2 chocolates to taste at 5 different shops, we also tasted some exquisite hot chocolate. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Jan from Canada

Chocolate 101

This tour (the NYC Luxury Chocolate Tour) was my formal introduction to the theme of chocolate. Although I have tasted a LOT of chocolate throughout the years, it is the first time I have been instructed in the basics and amplitude of the subject. The walk was nice, as it takes place on the Upper East Side, although I would recommend this tour for a time when the city is less crowded. The chocolate tasting was absolutely fantastic. It is the best chocolate I have ever tasted, both in liquid and solid form. The information provided by the guide was detailed, practical and entertaining, although a little lacking in accuracy (one of the chocolatiers visited was hailed as the seller of the most expensive chocolate in the world, although I found out later in Forbes that it is not... it is one of the top ten, though) and he was very amenable, courteous and friendly. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and worth every penny. I will be doing the SoHo tour next time.

Benefits of chocolate touring

Treat the women in your life (wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister, spinster aunt, etc) to this tour and you will be highly regarded. They will forget for the moment that you are just winging it and have no idea what these wacky creatures called women really want from you except they do seem to like chocolate and if you can provide the good stuff then a multitude of sins are forgiven. Be a hero for a change. And you get tasty candy, some harmless exercise, and possibly learn something.

A fun alternative in New York
Sun, Nov 18, 07   12:30 PM jamiehar Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Other
The chocolate tour was a great way to walk around some of the most interesting and varied parts of new york away from the main Tourist/Shopping areas whilst indulging on the best chocolate. It's a little on the expensive side but then you think about the cost and quality of the chocolate and its not too bad, plus the guide is entertaining and knowledgeable.

Choco-orgasmic!

My wife and I love chocolate, so it was only natural to sign up for the New Cuisine Chocolate tour on our recent visit to the city. First of all, Bert was excellent. He was a great host and made the tour very enjoyable. Our five stops with diverse tastings exposed us to shops we would never have found on our own. Bert's knowledge of the NYC chocolate scene and his friendship with the shop owners and staff, gave us the inside look and taste of top of the line sweets. We highly recommend this tour as a unique was to experience the city and give your tongue a memorable choco-orgasm!
