With some fine tuning, this tour could have been even better...Tour guide directed us to excellent chocolate locations... tastings were delicious... but tour guide's knowledge on the various locations was superficial and limited.... would have loved to learn more about each of the proprietors... why they entered into the industry... how long they were in business...their history, back grounds... where did they go to school to learn their trades... with whom did they apprentice to develop their expertise.... business' target market, etc... other interesting anecdotes about the various proprietors.... why did the proprietors choose their current locations to sell their products, etc...

We visit New York often, but have never done a food tour. This was a lot of fun and not stuffy at all, even for non-foodies. For some people it might be a lot of walking - be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, you need both. Bert was great. He knew a lot, made suggestions, let us take our time and still kept us on schedule and had a wonderful approach and attitude about life. He'll give you recommendations about other tours and tidbits about the city, too, if you ask. Take advantage of a chance to try flavors you'd never normally order and have fun!

Everyone was warm and friendly and the choclates were devine. We had many liberal samples. Burt was great. He helped me around the icy streets and even helped mr get a subway ticket.

This was a wonderful experience. A casual , but exciting trip to the world of gourmet chocolate. We learned many wonderful things about chocolate making. Our palates were treated to an extraordinary range of tastes. We could not have hand picked a better guide than Bert.

Our adorable guide was extremely knowledgeable not only about the process of making chocolate, but about the history of the chocolatiers we visited. We gained a lot of information and probably a couple of pounds from the samplings!

Carmen was wonderful! Passionate, knowledgable and fun. I took my 15 year old niece for her birthday and we had a blast! Would recommend highly!

Cancelled Last Minute

They called me the day of my tour, 2hrs before the actual start time, to tell me it was cancelled. They won't give me a refund and I need to go through the actually company to reschedule. I would not recommend this tour.

nice but overpriced

The tour was exactly as billed: 2 pieces of chocolate at each of 5 places, but no "surprises" along the way. The tour was actually only 1.5 hours. We weren't really given a lot of time to browse, though a few places were so small that it wasn't possible to do so. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable. Overall though, I have to say this tour is not worth $70. Maybe $50. I estimate we tasted about $25-30 worth of chocolate. But an extra $40 on top of that for a guide who didn't really offer anything besides what I could read in a decent guide book? Not worth it. I guess I just expected more for the price.
