Harlem Juke Joint Tour

Gordon is the perfect guide for a nighttime jaunt around Harlem. He took us to three venues we wouldn't have otherwise found by ourselves, and he is a part of the community - he knows so many of the musicians and venue staff, which means that if you want to you can say hi and talk to everyone and really get to know the real Harlem. The music we heard was exceptionally good, the food available was scrumptious, and it really was the best way to experience the jazz scene outside of the major tourist destinations (which are easy to find yourself). We also got to stroll through Harlem seeing the great jazz sites of yesteryear and Gordon was brilliant in sharing his knowledge. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

Great Jazz and lots of fun with the larger group... Would recommend to anyone..... single or group.... A great value......

Mit einem Insider wie Gordon auf einer derart persönlich gestalteten Jazz-Tour durch Harlems Jazz-Clubs zu ziehen, welche man nie an diesen Orten geahnt hätte und somit auch nicht betreten hätte.....völlig unterschiedliche Jazz-Stile zu geniessen, HIntergrundinfos, Historie erzählt zu bekommen....es war großartig!!!! This tour has changed the way I look at jazz and what I thought was a dying culture but I'm delighted to know that it still lives in Harlem. Gordon has incredible knowledge of the jazz scene in Harlem and is extremely informative and patient. I look forward to visiting again as I continue to research for the website I'm developing called jazzgroupiez!

This is the second time I have taken this tour because its really that good! Gordon is a great guide and knows all the good places to go to hear great jazz. I would definitely have never found them on my own or known about visiting musicians, especially up in Harlem at night time but with Gordon's tour I felt perfectly safe (i was a solo female traveller). I cannot recommend this tour enough if you love listening to great live jazz in NYC.

Gordon leads a very personalized tour, and takes you to places you wouldn't find on your own. He has a load of knowledge and a great love for jazz. We felt so comfortable, and after the Apollo (which was an unexpected surprise) he took us to a little "joint" where there was wonderful live jazz ensemble, and we could dance and have a drink, and even order Chinese food from next door! Without Gordon we would probably have not ventured on our own. We haven;t stopped describing it to others.... all of whom say it was a wonderful idea and where did we find it? Gordon provided my wife and me with a unique and wonderful experience. We would never have explored Harlem and its jazz joints on our own. Gordon's deep knowledge of Harlem, its history, and jazz made every minute a rich learning experience. Londell's and LA??? showed off two very different types of jazz venues. Anyone interested in a rich jazz experience would enjoy one of Gordon's tours. He is easy to spend time with, you feel you have gotten your money's worth, and you have a great time.

gordon is a true jazz insider, and fan. he is known and welcomed in the clubs not as a guide, but as a friend and jazz guy. very knowledgeable, accomodating. the experience is real and current, not only historic, or looky-loo. i had a great time.

Both of the Jazz performances were nice, the second one at the west harlem was more unique and interesting, no need for the dinner, the purpose of the tour is Jazz, preferable to drink at 3 Jazz places similar to the second at west Harlem instead of being in only 2 and to waste time on dinner. But i enjoyed very much, thank you.
