Big Apple Jazz Tours

Gordon is the perfect guide for a nighttime jaunt around Harlem. He took us to three venues we wouldn't have otherwise found by ourselves, and he is a part of the community - he knows so many of the musicians and venue staff, which means that if you want to you can say hi and talk to everyone and really get to know the real Harlem. The music we heard was exceptionally good, the food available was scrumptious, and it really was the best way to experience the jazz scene outside of the major tourist destinations (which are easy to find yourself). We also got to stroll through Harlem seeing the great jazz sites of yesteryear and Gordon was brilliant in sharing his knowledge. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

Thanks to Gordon it was a great evening in 3 different Clubs. Gordon has a very good knowledge about the Jazz-Scene and we were very happy to get to know him. We certainly will visit Harlem again on one of our future trips to N.Y.

We had a wonderful time- the guide, Gordon was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and extremely nice. The clubs he chose and the bands that were playing were amazing and to top it off we got a chance to walk by the Apollo Theater, which was a real treat. Harlem Jazz tour exceeded expectations. This is a combined music, food and cultural tour. All three jazz venues we visited were unique and made our group feel right at home. Gordon was a fantastic guide and made this a great way to spend a night in NYC!!!

Well what can we say, best spent $100 ever, Gordon was very friendly, likeable and knows his stuff. First club was nice, food good value and service great, band very enthusiastic , music energetic , great intro into night. Then second club was the famous Lennox Lounge, felt privileged to have been able to come here, as closing soon, felt like the real deal, busy and hoppin, different style of jazz again, then next club was a quiet place but the band was giving it all, really loved this place too. Overall the tour was perfect, Gordon laid back but attentive to needs, looked after us re- subway,tips, taxi fares and making sure we all got on right subway home, couldn't speak more highly of this tour and would recommend highly, FABULOUS NIGHT OUT, just do it if your thinking about it, thanks Gordon a highlight of our New York trip!!!

Great Jazz and lots of fun with the larger group... Would recommend to anyone..... single or group.... A great value......

Mit einem Insider wie Gordon auf einer derart persönlich gestalteten Jazz-Tour durch Harlems Jazz-Clubs zu ziehen, welche man nie an diesen Orten geahnt hätte und somit auch nicht betreten hätte.....völlig unterschiedliche Jazz-Stile zu geniessen, HIntergrundinfos, Historie erzählt zu bekommen....es war großartig!!!! Great night out, it felt like a night out with a small group of friends once we were all introduced. Amanda was fun and informative throughout the night, even making sure we all got home safely. Recommended for out-of-towners who are a bit unsure where the best spots are and are looking for a couple of different venues on the one night. My wife even got to sing a couple of numbers with a fantastic quartet.

I had the pleasure to visit 3 jazz spots with the help of a knowledgeable guide. It was fun and I would do it again. Recommended.

I don't think we could enjoy the trip fully due to severe jetlag. Gordon is a nice guy with alot of knowledge and wit. Glad to have met him.

great sites.maybe too short for a jazz night

Gordon's reviews speak for themselves. He's everything the other reviewers say - friendly, knowledgeable, passionate about jazz . . but not in an annoying or pretentious way. He is clearly dedicated to making sure his clients have a brilliant time and is full of interesting insights, anecdotes and opinions. What's also great though is that once you're in a club he'll let you have the experience you want; be that sitting at a bar, dancing, mingling, sitting in a corner - it's not like being on some dreadful tour where you are herded around like sheep. Furthermore he's obviously very popular with the locals in Harlem's jazz clubs and wherever we went he was warmly welcomed. We went on a Friday night and stopped at three venues, eating brilliant tasty soul food at the second. We saw a great range of bands and each club was very different. All were fantastic. New York's an expensive city so $99 might seem like a lot of money but I think Gordon's tour is worth every single penny. Highly recommended. You'll never see these places, let alone understand what's going on, without his expert guidance and humorous commentary.

Gordon's knowledge of the area, history, and music was exceptional! I had a great time and highly recommend this tour!
