Birthday Gift

We have lived in Charleston since 1993. My friend and I moved here from Hawaii. Our home is in Columbia SC. We both love Charleston and each year we say we are going down town and take a ride in the buggy, well this year we made it,it was a birthday gift from my grand-daughter. We really enjoyed it. Our speaker was very knowledgeable on Charleston history. He talk at a tone where we thought everyone was able to hear him speak. We sat up front and the only thing I wish was that the driver had a way to sit also so the people sitting up front could see better but that is just me. It's not a compliant just a comment on my part. We truely enjoyed ourselves. Thank you, T.Fuller

Nice tour - informative

I would recommend this tour. We had a nice, informative and relaxing ride around the Charleston area. We went to the Ansonborough area. Our guide did a good job of giving us details on the Ansonborough area of Charleston. We previously had a bus tour of Charleston. I am glad we did both. The Olde Towne Carriage ride complemented the bus tour.

A Fantastic Tour

This was a fantastic tour for someone who has limited time in Charleston. The driver/guide provided an excellent description of the things we saw, the houses, buildings and the history of the area. I plan to do it again when I return to Charleston.

Enjoyable and informative ride

This was my first carriage ride, and we had glorious weather on our side. It was a great way to spend an hour. Our tour was among the homes south of Broad Street for the most part. The leader really knew his stuff. He spoke informatively about the architectural details that one is likely to miss on a casual stroll. He also filled us in on the history of Charleston as it pertained to the houses we saw. I highly recommend this company and this tour. I'll definitely do more!

I loved the ride and the scenery, but would have liked more historical details along the ride. We had a number "2" tag and I remember a little more history the last carriage ride I took thru Charleston.

Carriage Tour a "Must Do" in Charleston
Fri, Apr 2, 10   12:00 PM eileen96 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Historic Carriage Tours are a "Must Do" in Charleston. We take a tour every time we visit, and we learn something new and interesting. Due to the large number of tourists and carriage tours, the city requires the carriage companies to load passengers onto their carriage, then the driver must stop on the next block to be assigned a route number. This only takes a few seconds and you are on your way. You won't know what route your tour has until they get their number, but each route is unique and interesting. I highly recommend a tour that is one hour, and recommend not going in the heat of the day, since the availability of the breeze has a lot to do with the tide changes, and the summers get very hot. Booking tickets on-line assures you a guarenteed time, without waiting, but be sure to bring your printed on-line confirmation information. All tour guides are required to pass a test to be a tour guide, thus you are pretty much guaranteed an accurate and informative tour. Don't forget sunscreen. Though the carriages are covered, the angle of the sun, and an outer seat, can result in some sun exposure. Be sure the kids use the rest room before you start your tour. Most tours allow you to bring water bottles on board, though some prefer that you not snack, because of the crumbs and clean up issues. Enjoy!

we had a very hard time hearing the tour guide. she was very pleasant and informative, but we were sitting on the last row of the carriage and could barely hear her. we enjoyed the ride through the historic district, but wished we could have learned more.
