We loved this carriage tour. Our guide was a very funny and also informative person. We loved hearing all about Charleston and the history of the different places we saw during the tour. Our guide kept the interest of my children and we really all loved the experience and would take this tour again when we come back to Charleston. |

Great tour. The tour guide knew her stuff and was enthusiastic about Charleston, her enthusiasm and love of Charleston shone through. She answered all our questions with humour and great knowledge. We were also impressed with the care given to the horses.
Great tour company, would highly recommend. |

Our carraige was pulled by Bill, a retired draft horse from Pennsylvania, our tour guide was very knowegable about the area we were allowed to tour. We saw the old jail that was on one of the Ghost Adventurers edpisodes. Both of our college age children said they enjoyed the tour as well as my wife. Our tour included both residential and commercial parts of town. The tour was as advertised. |

We enjoyed the carriage ride tour of Charleston. The guide was knowledgeable and fun without "yucking it up" too much. He gave us a lot of good ideas about places to visit after the tour so we didn't have to wander around looking for good sights to see. We recommend this tour and this company. |

This was my first carriage ride, and we had glorious weather on our side. It was a great way to spend an hour. Our tour was among the homes south of Broad Street for the most part. The leader really knew his stuff. He spoke informatively about the architectural details that one is likely to miss on a casual stroll. He also filled us in on the history of Charleston as it pertained to the houses we saw. I highly recommend this company and this tour. I'll definitely do more! |

Carriage Tour a "Must Do" in Charleston

Historic Carriage Tours are a "Must Do" in Charleston. We take a tour every time we visit, and we learn something new and interesting. Due to the large number of tourists and carriage tours, the city requires the carriage companies to load passengers onto their carriage, then the driver must stop on the next block to be assigned a route number. This only takes a few seconds and you are on your way. You won't know what route your tour has until they get their number, but each route is unique and interesting. I highly recommend a tour that is one hour, and recommend not going in the heat of the day, since the availability of the breeze has a lot to do with the tide changes, and the summers get very hot. Booking tickets on-line assures you a guarenteed time, without waiting, but be sure to bring your printed on-line confirmation information. All tour guides are required to pass a test to be a tour guide, thus you are pretty much guaranteed an accurate and informative tour. Don't forget sunscreen. Though the carriages are covered, the angle of the sun, and an outer seat, can result in some sun exposure. Be sure the kids use the rest room before you start your tour. Most tours allow you to bring water bottles on board, though some prefer that you not snack, because of the crumbs and clean up issues. Enjoy! |
