We Had A Blast On Olde Towne's Carriage Ride!

My husband's family and I decided to take a carriage ride through Charleston one afternoon, and we went with Olde Town Carriage Company because they had the best prices available on the Internet. I can't remember our guide's name (Mike, maybe?), but he was wonderful! He took us by many of the churches and other historical locales around Charleston as well as through some of the historic neighborhoods. He was very informative about the history of the area, and he pointed out so many wonderful details that could have been missed with a less enthusiastic guide. He told us that his horse, Bill, was probably their slowest carriage horse, which worked out just fine for us. It made our tour seem to last for a long time, and we were able to get some great photographs of buildings as we passed them. It started to rain just as we were about to return from the tour, which added to the fun of it all. We had three young children with us, and even though the youngest fell asleep almost from the beginning of the tour, the two older children really seemed to enjoy themselves. I highly recommend this company for anyone who wants to learn a little more about Charleston's varied history as well as for a nice, relaxing carriage ride around the quiet neighborhoods.

Handout of Charleston would have been helpful. Even though I have been to visit several times, the ride seems to go so quickly and there is not much time left to ask questions. Our guide was very good as was the horse Bob. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.

We took our family, 4 year old twin daughters, my grandmother, and my husband and myself on the hour long carriage ride. We were impressed with the care of the horses, first and foremost, and were impressed with our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and gave us great insight to the city. He added some humor so it kept it interesting for someone like me who didn't really care about the history, just wanted to do a carriage ride. My grandmother, on the other hand, was very interested in the historical information. She was very impressed by him. I think his name was Mike. My girls loved seeing the horses, learning more about the horses, and took lots of pictures throughout the city. He showed us different parts of the city, different types of houses, the waterfront area, etc....We really enjoyed our horse and carriage ride.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and seemed genuinely interested in being there. There are 3 tours and the driver never knows which tour he will get until he checks in with the tourism department so he has to know 3 tours and he certainly had a lot of information and was very friendly. The entire staff seemed very loving to the horses and showed them a lot of attention. The horses were very well taken care of. I will do this again next time I am in Charleston.

Very enjoyable. The tour guide had a lot of information on history of Charleston along with the Civil War, Revolutionary War and the founding fathers of the city. Would have like to tour to have been longer and seen more of the city.

When going to Charleston, this cariage ride takes you back to Colonial Charleston up to the present. It is the perfect way to start your visit to Charleston. The expertise of the tour guide enables you to go back in time and get a realistic view of how people went about there daily lives and coped with the many challenges they faced. You also get a good insight into how Charleston saved the many historic buildings that other cities leveled in the name of progress. I highly recommend that you start your visit to Charleston with a fact filled carriage ride through the streets of Charleston. Then follow it up with a walking tour of the sites that appeal to you the most.
