Great for TV and Movie Buffs!
Wed, Jul 30, 08   11:00 AM jflavel Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My girlfriend and I recently attended the TV and movie sites tour and had a great time. The tour offered a variety of old and new sites which helped cater to the different age groups on the tour. As well, our guide (Roxanne) was great. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history and reasons production chose the various sites as well as the way in which film crews from various movies and shows had to film scenes and shots using the different buildings. These insights made the trip a little more interesting that just riding around and being shown a series of different buildings and parks. I recommend this activity to anyone who has a keen interest in movies and or television.

Serious value for money!

I didn't expect much from both the NBC tour and the bus tour so I was pleasantly surprised when we did the following: * Record a news broadcast with participants of the NBC tour * Found cool LCD screens in the tourbus on which samples of movies were shown * Accidentally bumped into Kirsten Dunst * Accidentally bumped into the stapler guy from Office Space * Checked out the SNL studios Don't expect too much of the Friends appartment building! We were disappointed there, but mostly because the appartment building is 'just a building'.

Enjoyed both tours. The tv/movie tour was what I expected to see but a little too long.

Wider Variety Needed

The tour was very good, but focused on only a few movies (WAAAYYY too much on Enchanted). It would be nice if it focused on a wider variety of movies.

Boring sights from a Bus window
Fri, Jul 25, 08   11:00 AM bellakrys13 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The Movie Tour wasn't definitely not what I thought it would be. We sat on the bus for about 3 hours speeding past The Meat Packing District, Soho and others areas of NYC. I didn't recognize half the sights from the movie and we only got off the bus 5 to 10 mins stopping for pictures at The Cosby Show Brownstone and The movie Hitch to eat Rice Pudding (if we so chose). The Will&Grace sights were horrible and Friends was just as boring! This tour was a waste of money. I did however enjoy the NBC Tour though we didn't get to see the Today show setting. It was extremely cold on the Bus and at NBC Studios. The NBC tour was much better though a lot shorter than the bus ride. I don't recommend the Movie Tour you are probably better off doing the SATC tour or Sopranos which was really cute !

Too long, too lame

Our tour leader was Rosie. A wannabe actress who spent alot of time letting us now all about it. The trip takes up valuable time and doesn't really show you much of substance. Designed for the easily impressed. If you are into pop culture, it'll be a let down. Too much focus on I AM LEGEND, GOSSIP GIRLS, FRIENDS, SEX & THE CITY, LAW & ORDER.

Amazing Tour!

I have been to NYC before and added this as a great way to see the city and learn a little about TV shows and movies I enjoy. It was an absolutely fantastic way to see the sites. It is in a luxury air conditioned bus. A definite plus in the elements! There were a few stops along the way to allow us to get more aquainted with the areas and to take photographs at some of the more popular sites. Our tour guide, Gary, is amazing. He is energetic and definitely made the tour very interesting..and entertaining. There is even a little trivia on the way. The NBC studio tour has changed a little since the last time I visited. It is easy to schedule and both run on time. The studio tour begins with some history of NBC and studio visits to Conan O'Brien and SNL. A couple of other stops are interesting along the way. I probably wouldn't do the NBC tour again, but only because I have done it twice. It is worth doing if you have not done it before. I highly recommend both tours and cannot wait to go on the TV and movie sites tour again with friends when I visit NYC in the future! Have fun!

Incredibly fast half day

The combo ticket was well worth the cost. Starting the day with the NBC Studio tour, we were able to see, and understand, some behind the scenes activities of some of our favorite shows. Just being in and around Rockefeller Center is a treat. Since it was early, we were also able to see some of the Today Show. Great fun. Moving from the studio tour, we were able to quickly make our way to the bus for the movie/tv tour. Gary, our tour guide, kept things lively with trivia, quizes, games, video clips, and those "expensive" prizes that he gave to all. Locations on the tour were great; it is unfortunate that there are so many in New York that time does not allow one to cover all. I found the places that we stopped for some walking to be really good locations. It is fast moving, three hours and fifteen minutes flew. I hope to do it again sometime.

Nothing on "Gossip Girls"
Mon, Jul 21, 08   11:00 AM adiamond Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
My daughter had strongly pushed for us to do the TV/Movie Tour based on them having advertised that "Gossip Girls" sites were to be included. "Gossip Girls" was never mentioned, except for the tour guide Gary (who did a great job) apologizing for no Gossip Girls. Instead the tour was one fourth on Friends and Seinfeld, two series that we seldom watched. (I liked tour guide Gary, but was disappointed that few of the sites mattered much to us, especially for my daughter who had lobbied for doing this.) As far as the NBC part, I scheduled this for a time when the Today Show would be broadcasting live, so we might see some of that action. But they showed us dead sets (like for Conan, whose show was on hiatus for a week), and did not take us at all to the Today Show set, even though it was being broadcast live at the time. Also two NBC employees told me that I could pick up my paid-for tickets based on my last name, so I waited in a long line, only finally to be told by a third NBC employee that I needed to have my confirmation number with me, so I had to come back another day, and wait in the line a second time.
