Fascinating info on shoots, techniques, actors, and the history of Northern New Jersey. This is a fun-packed, enjoyable tour where you learn something interesting every moment.
The bus is modern, luxurious, comfortable.
The guide is beyond well-informed. He was involved with the show and was extremely knowledgable about not just the show but the history of the actors.
Two brief breaks to stretch your legs - one to shop for a snack in Kearny (location of Satriali's), and one at the Satin Dolls - Bada Bing night club where you can buy some memoribilia (mugs, t-shirts, drink cups) for cash. Then fresh authentic canolis are served on the bus.
With this tour you don't mind being stuck in traffic with the bus, because the entertainment just keeps on coming. The fastest four hours you will ever spend. |

too long, too much trivia, too much Louis Prima

The tour guide gave it a good try, but even though I enjoy the Sopranos and have seen every episode, as well as all or most of the Goodfellas, Godfathers, etc., there isn't enough going on with Sopranos sets to justify spending 4+ hours wandering around eastern New Jersey looking at various non-descript buildings in the meadowlands. That there wasn't that much Sopranos stuff to see or hear about is sort of confirmed by the amount of time spent by the guide telling about various non-Sopranos sites such as various diners, and some other not-too special places, most of which are already forgotten.
The sound system in the bus was poor, which kind of aggravated the discomfort of being subjected to endless repetitions of a couple of Louis Prima songs.
I guess this was the bus driver's first trip on this tour so it was a little uncoordinated in that views of some places were missed because the driver didn't know to slow down in time, and couldn't go back because of traffic conditions. Since there were so few things of interest to see in the first place, missing some didn't help much.
The guide had an encyclopedic knowledge of gangster movies, gangster TV, gangster actors and the Sopranos, and a pleasant manner and enthusiastic presentation, but the endless trivia gave me a whole lot more information than I needed.
The 'Bada Bing' (Actually a pole-dancer club named 'Satin Dolls') was saved for the end and I suppose was intended to be the highlight of the tour. However, it was pretty lame and I can't imagine it would even stll be in business if it wasn't for being able to trade on the Sopranos image, the TV image being considerably more interesting than the real thing.
In summary, a person would have to be pretty fanatical about the Sopranos to think this was a good deal, and of our group of about 30 there were two or three that seemed to fit that description.
But, hats off to the proprietor of the tour -- Anybody who can continually get people to pay 40 bucks a head to be driven around eastern New Jersey looking at anonymous industrial buildings and the like for 4+ hours on an otherwise beautiful Sunday afternoon -- that person is truly a genius. P.T. Barnum would be envious. |

We really enjoyed seeing the show locations. Having a guide who has been on the show was even more fun. We especially liked the film clips linking the locations to the show.
Seeing the Bada Bing was great but the stop is a bit commercial. I'd rather have a little narration on the stop rather than a shopping event (but my husband disagrees).
Thankds so much |

The tour was fantastic for any Soprano's fan. Our guide, Marc Baron, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He must have done this tour a thousand times, but it was obvious he enjoyed sharing his knowledge by the way he made it such a personal experience.
Marc was also quite informative not only on the Soprano's but also many other aspects of movie history in both 'Joisey' and 'New Yaark'.
The Soprano's trivia during the ride was fun, as was seeing sites like the Pork Shop without its dressing as well as learning quite a bit about the filming process (proximity of the locations to each other, 'bloopers' in continuity, reuse of locations etc.)
It also really helped to see the locations and then see the clips from the show - really made it so much more exciting!
Don't go in expecting to see live filming on set and bear in mind that this is mainly an industrial area that you are touring - but we went in with our eyes open and loved every minute of it.
Being from Australia, we would not have been comfortable touring New Jersey on our own looking for these sites - this was a great way to see the neighbourhood and get a tasty cannoli in the bargain...
Thank you, guys, for the experience! |

I have to be really honest, I was not impressed.
I purchased 3 tickets as a gift for my father's birthday. Myself, my father and a close family friend are huge fans of the show. I just don't think that the show captured the greatness of the show.
I learned more about the New York skyline and the Polanski HWY than I did about the show. |

Having bought the online-tickets back in Europe, I was a bit afraid that the Sopranos tour could be disapponting but it turned out to be a highlight of our journey to New York. Our guide, John, proved he was a real fan himself, knowing lots of details about the episodes and spicing the tour with personal experience, comments and lots of background information. So: Long live Newark, long live the Badda Bing ;-) |

I really enjoyed the tour. The tour guide really added the the experience. He was extremely enthusiastic and interacted with everyone on the tour. He did a great job & held everyone's attention. It was interesting to see the actually sites & funny how they "fool" us with some of them. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is a fan. By the way, the cannoli's were the icing on the cake! Mmmmmm |

My mum, dad and I attended this tour Sunday, 30 July 2006. All three of us had a fantastic time. The tour guide was flawless. The tour was informative and fun. If you are a Sopranos fan I would definitely recommend doing this tour. I thought one of the best features about this tour was that after they took you to a location or pointed it out from the bus they showed you clips from the show that had that location in it. This tour was worth every penny. |

We had the most wonderful time on our Soprano Tour. Our Tour Guide gave us non-stop inside information on the Soprano Cast Members and Scenes from prior episodes. From the music, tv scenes, trivia questions (and prizes), all the stops we made that actually appeared on the TV Series, explanations of each and every event, not to mention the Cannoli we got to experience from the Italian Bakery, it was a tour Soprano Fans will long remember!
Don't miss this tour Soprano Fans, I promise you, you will enjoy it! You might also remember to ask for Tour Guide, Mr. Marc Baron, he did a wonderful job as our Guide, I can't imagine the Tour being such a masterpiece without him. |
