| I was on a "girl's" trip to New York with my teen daughters. We are big tv and movie fans--"Friends" "Devil Wears Prada", you name it....we had a great time seeing all of the famous locations! |
|
Our Guide was thoroughly entertaining however.....

| New York TV and movie sites was a pretty good tour - our guide was great and helped made the whole trip entertaining. He was also thoroughly outsmarted by a member of the tour group who had a freakish memory for all things TV related - and together they joked and spurred each other on. It was never dull and he was extremely pleasant throughout the 4 or so hours it took (not the 3 that was mentioned originally on the site). Thumbs up to him.
My only real disappointment is the coverage of TV and movie sites. New York has been featured in so many movies that I expected to see much more of the city reflected in the tour. The areas where we got out of the bus and walked were not that interesting to me and I felt were almost a waste of time. Why not have an open top bus and just drive around Manhattan, slowly enough so people can take photos of things that interest them. Alternatively a smaller bus with windows that opened. I didn't see the need to actually get off the bus at times. The audio on the bus wasn't that impressive and the sites chosen didn't have the "wow" factor I thought they'd have.
To be fair - it was good, it was interesting, but I felt it lacked that extra bit of oomph. Perhaps someone can give it the punchline it needs and then the whole tour - not just the guide - will get the thumbs up. |

| It was our first time in NYC and really the tour was just great to see a lot of the city in a short time. Plus there are a couple of stops on the tour, so it's not boring at all. Gary, our guide, was good fun and we learned a lot about filmaking and behind-the- scene details of series. So, don't think about it twice, just book your tickets and enjoy ! |

| This tour was not as exciting as I would have liked for it to be, but it was enjoyable enough that I would do it again. |

| We enjoyed the tour vey much and recommend it to all TV and movie nerds. Our guide was funny and had a nice quiz concept where little treats could be won if you knew odd facts about almost anything.
We left the tour bus smiling. |

| My wife was the one who wanted to do this trip, but I was a bit skeptical that it would be any good, I was quite wrong. What worried me most was other reviews on this site giving me the impression that the tour could be disorganised and have people seated in bad places on the bus, but having been on a tour I know exactly what can happen and why. Basically we turned up in advance (as stated) and got on the bus and got nice seats. However there was a family that was quite late, and they had to sit apart from each other as there were only a few places spaced out, so this makes sense - turn up late, you don't get good seats.
As for disorganised, it simply was not this at all, it was really well organised. Kimberley kept us informed of everything that was happening, let us know there was a "same seat" policy which made us happy as we kept our nice seats, asked everyone to turn their cellphones off so as not to disturb anyone, and had an absolute mountain of information about all the various locations and lots of interesting stuff about why buildings appear in certain shots the way they do yet seem different in real life. She had heaps of fantastic quotes from shows & movies and had quite a nice signing voice. They say it is supposed to be a "sing along" tour but really this is just a bit of a laugh, no one has to join in and it only happens a couple of times, and the context is great & sensible when it does.
The bus is air conditioned and the driver was really good. You get off regularly, but not too regularly. You also get a free cookie (like the black & white cookie from seinfeld) and also you can optionally choose to purchase some lovely rice pudding and eat it on the bus (from a place in one of the movies). They also play clips from the movie on the bus, though towards the end the DVD seemed to have errors on it which caused some problems, hopefully they'll sort this out soon.
I can't recommend this tour enough, you get to see some places you would not normally see, get to enjoy some funny stories & have a couple of snacks - its fantastic! |
