My first visit to Charleston (from Boston) and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. A great way to see the city. I only wish they weren't limited to one zone only. |

I would recommend this tour as the first sightseeing item that you do. It helps you get a grasp of the city and to learn about the history, then you can make informed decisions on where you would want to go. Love the way they handle the animals, and very clean. |

Having lived here less than a year, we felt that the carriage ride provided us with a real flavor for this beautiful old city. We also learned a lot in a relaxing & fun manner. |

Our guide, Jodi, did a great job educating our group about the various buildings along the way and Charleston history in general. It was obvious she had studied the same and enjoyed her job. Also evident was her love for the animals used by her company for the carriage tours and she provided our group with insight into the personalities of and care for the mules.
A great experience and we recommend Jodi and her company wholeheartedly! |

Having never been in Charleston, I was looking for a historical overview of the city. I was hoping the guide would direct us to sites that might intrest us for further siteseeing. Unfortunatley, this was NOT our experience! First, our guide spent a large portion of time reiteratating the quality of care the company extends to its mules!!! A short version of this I could tolerate but it was extensive, exhaustive and repeated at the end of the ride. Next, I was not aware but apparently these carriage companies are regulated by the city. It just depends on luck, I suppose, what district your carriage is directed to. I was extremely disappointed that our ride did not take us near the battery, the market or the waterfront. We were relegated to the university district. Our guide was knowledgeable as to when certain buildings were built and how many congregations had occupied which churches and this was interesting but just not what I was looking for. In the guides defense, the district he was sent to just might not have held that must actual history! However, my complaint with the guide was that he was monotoned and was not loud enough . My father-in-law (64yo) actually dosed off during the ride, not my idea of gripping entertainment. City niose was also a problem, lawn blowers and road construction were constant interruptions, or would have been if the guide would have stopped talking as he passed these distractions. Overall I suggest that real tourists interested in seeing Charleston would be better off hoofing it on their own two feet. The city itself is beautiful and desrves a closer look than what you can see from an automobile and you wont necessarily see what you want to see on these carriage rides. SKIP IT, save your money and try the local She Crab Soup at a local restraunt! |

This was an excellent way to experience the historic district of Charleston. The tour was long enough, without being too long. The tour guide was very informative, comedic, and entertaining. |

I've been on several carriage tours in Charleston over the years. and this one was by far the best. The guide was very knowledgeable and the people who worked at Palmetto were very nice and hospitable. I would definitely take a tour from this company again. |
