Loved the tour, definitely recommend to anyone visiting Charleston. We had Henry as our guide, and we would definitely recommend him to anyone using this company for tours.

My husband and I took a ride with Jodi and "Facebook" and learned so much about the history and homes of downtown Charleston. We both highly recommend using Palmetto Carriage to anyone looking to take a fun tour of downtown!

Very Disappointed. Tour giver was a bore

The tour was not what I expected. i thought I'd get a very informational tour about various important locations in the Charleston Historic district with a very entertaining and factual tour guide. First of all, even though she joked about it early on, we truly did get the slowest mules they had to offer. We were dragged through the tour at a pace slower then I could walk and could clearly see that the pace of other wagons was greater than ours. The tour guide was a small, gray haired old woman who was very boring, her sense of humor was so dry that you couldnt tell if there was a joke being told, she was very opionated even to the point of my wife and I looking at each other with a puzzled 'where did that come from' look, and very random in terms of what she felt she wanted to point out or talk about. No flow or consistency to the trip and I was very disinterested and looking forward to the tour ending and getting to dinner only 20 mins into the tour. My 4 yr old had the right idea as he took out a coloring book and some toys and sat on the seat and played once he realized how slow a ride this was. It was overpriced for what we got- $60 for the 3 of us to go, made me wish I chose the cheaper tours I had seen with better discounts and not jamming in that hidden $2 a person city charge that wasnt built into the fee. To be fair there were 2 positives- we did get 4 hrs of free parking in their lot which was more than enough to have dinner. and half the tour was in shady areas. However, the second half was not and conveniently when we did stop to hear her ramblings, I was on the side of the carriage where the sun shone in on me making an already exhausting experience even that much worse. Overall, while another tour guide might have been better (I was routing to get a guy who had just let a group off to rousing applause and tips), and maybe not a reflection on the company overall, they are responsible for hiring their guides and need to do an evaluation or unannounced trip on one of her tours. I will not recommend this tour to anyone I know in future trips to Charleston and will have no desire to go on another one. I wish I could get my money back and had spent it on the aquarium or going to fort sumter.

This was my second carriage ride in as many trips to Charleston. Both tours were done with Palmetto's carriage ride. I would go back again (and will next time). HIghly recommended.

Fantastic tour of Charleston

My friend had never been to Charleston and always wanted to take a carriage ride. My son lives in Charleston and recommended your company. The three of us had a wonderful time, you just can't absorb all the information you are given or see. I highly recommend that you order your tickets on line and have them ready when you get there. Saves alot of time and hassel. Plus we got 3 hours free parking. Great company.

It was ok.

The trolley tour was nice enough, but we had a hard time hearing the tour guide since we were sitting in the back of the carriage. The business itself is awesome and I love the way they treat and really take care of their animals. The tour guide was great, we just wish he had a microphone or sound system of some sort because half the time we couldn't make out what he was saying. The tour itself wasn't amazing or anything. They take you on random tour routes throughout the city to keep the flow of traffic moving (understandable), so we just saw mostly some really nice houses down town and got a basic over all tour. We are local so we already know a lot of Charlseton's history, but for someone whose never been there I think the tour would have been enjoyable. Overall, it was ok. It was a nice way to spend a breezy evening sitting and touring some nice homes anyway.

Professional, humorous, knowledgable

Our group of 7, 3 adults and 4 children all enjoyed the carriage ride. Smaller children may get bored, particularly if they are seated in the back of the carriage in the middle. Where you're seated for the most part won't be a big deal but will make a difference with kids. All in all, we had a great time. Driver was courteous, demonstrated historical knowledge delivered with wit. At times, must remember to either speak louder if facing forward, or turn and speak to passengers. Also be consistent so that others in the back can hear clearly as well.

Nice way to see Charleston

This was a nice way to see some of the historic areas of Charleston with a multi-generational group. Even the kids thought some of the history and buildings were interesting.
