Our tour guide (Jenny) was great! We got a lot of history on our ride and enjoyed every minute of it. Our 14 year old daughter also enjoyed the history. It was related to us with amusing stories and anecdotes making it engaging for all of us. The mules were well cared for and neat to watch work. |

We picked Palmetto Carriage Works out on the Internet, and are so happy we did. They were easy to find and the four hours of free parking in their lot, for purchasing our tickets on-line, was a real bonus. It gave us a chance to visit the market and have a leisurely lunch after the tour. Arriving at the Red Barn early, we were given a choice to wait until our reserved tour time, or go right away on an available carriage. We decided to go early and are so glad we did. Our tour route included the Battery. The guide was extremely knowledgeable of the history, architecture, and lore of Charleston. All in all, we had a truly wonderful time and will choose Palmetto Carriage Works the next time we are in Charleston. |

Loved the tour! But, didn't care much for the tour guide. I think his name was Bones. There were a few comments that had sexual intonations that we really did not care for, nor did we care to hear about his experiences at his "watering holes". We took this tour last year as well and our guide last year was outstanding. Would definitely recommend the tour, just not so much the tour guide. |

We had a fantastic time! My wife and I live in Charleston and wanted to be tourists in our own town when we had family visiting from out of town. The carriage tours use a BINGO type system to keep the tours circulating through all parts of town, which is cool because you don't know where the tour will take you. Could be a bummer if you want to see a specific area, but Charleston has so much history that every route is great. Our guide was/is a native to the area and was/is very knowledgeable. We all had a great time and we highly recommend this tour group. |

Our guide, Tim was sensational. So informative and entertaining. What impressed us the most was that the animals were so well taken care of by the entire staff. The barn was clean and most important, all the animals looked like they were enjoying themselves. This was our first trip (but not our last) to Charleston. And we will definitely return for our next carriage ride!! |

I've taken other carriage rides in Charleston, SC in the past and have always loved it! However, this tour guide was HORRIBLE - spoke in a monotone and acted like he didn't even want to be there!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR!!!! |

This is the third time we have taken this fantastic tour and it is different every time. There are 3 randomly chosen routes, but even the same route has a different flair with different guides. It is a relaxing and very educational tour of the city, giving you a glimpse of areas you might want to explore on foot.
Palmetto does a very good job organizing their tours....not a long wait in the barn. We have purchased our tickets twice through Zerve, and that is definitely the way to go! It was easy to do online or on the phone and made scheduling our day much easier as there was very little waiting...in fact this past time (Thanksgiving weekend) we arrived early and Palmetto moved UP our tour time, even though they were very busy. The 4 hours of free parking near the barn is prime for shopping/dining after the tour.
If you just do one CHS tour, make it Palmetto carriage ride and buy your tickets through Zerve ! |
