A Great Way to Get an Overview of Charleston

Palmetto Carriage Works gave us a lot of information on Charleston, that we would not have otherwise known. We booked the tour online and had everything reserved before we left home - we would highly recommend them. All day free parking was definitely a bonus.

We took the four person carriage which was nice because we could ask questions anytime. It was also comfortable and elegant. Our driver was knowledgable and friendly.

Our tour guide was friendly and was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. I was also impressed at how well the horses are cared for and the condition of the carriages. I would highly recomment this tour to anyone interested in learning some history of Charleston JOE C..

Wish guide would have provided more than historical information. Like to hear a contrast of history and current use of buildings, area development, etc.

My wife and I took both the carriage tour and the harbor tour. They were both very good. One suggestion would be to no jam so many people on the carriage. The seats are too small to seat four adults.

Really enjoyed our ride on the carriage. Very professional organization. Great tour guide with a lot of knowledge. The only thing I have against it is that you cannot choose where you tour. There are 3 or 4 routes and they draw before each tour. I loved the historic tour.

The animals were in excellent condition and well behaved. The facility was very clean. Staff were all most accomodating. The guide, Ryan, was very knowledgeable, personable and informative. On the harbor cruise the vessel was very clean and the narrator had an excellent knowledge base of the history of the city. I would encourage anyone spending time in the Charleston area to take advantage of this opportunity, and to do so early in the stay. I am sure we will take it again in the future. -- George Robinson

Combo Tour Package

We enjoyed the carriage tour and the harbor tour that followed. There was enough time between the two to allow us to get a quick look at the nearby flea market and purchase a sweet grass basket from a vendor. On both tours, the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining, as well. It was well worth the cost for a first time visit to Charleston.

Our guide was from the area and was very informative about everything that we saw on the tour. The carriage tour is paced just right to get a feel for historic Charleston and then you can go back to specific sights for a more in-depth tour.

Great carriage ride but not boat experience.

My husband and I enjoyed the carriage ride. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. We give it a AAA+++ The boat was another matter altogether. The appearance of the boat was very filthy. The Looooong dock to connect with the boat had pilings on the side, but no rope or other safety features between the pilings. We opted not to take this part of the tour, since there was nothing to hold onto. We give it a EEE---

Although Palmetto Carriage Works is located in a busy part of Charleston, we were able to follow the directions to their location very easily. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We arrived a bit early for our scheduled carriage ride and asked one of the employees if he could suggest someplace where we could get something light for lunch. He cheerfully directed us to a place, very nearby, that was more than suitable. Our driver/guide on the carriage ride was a young man named Adam and he was very personable and extremely well informed about the history, landmarks and features of the Charleston area. He gladly answered any and all questions. I would HIGHLY recommend Palmetto Carriage Works to anyone visiting the Charleston area. It is well worth what we paid.
