Great tour

Our guide, Sam, was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. We had a limited amount of time in Charleston, and this was a great way to see as much as possible.

A good tour

Overall, it was worth the money. I have had more enthusiastic tour guides in other cities, so it is not the greatest I've experienced. However, it was above average.

Awesome tour

We bought the combo tickets ( carriage tour and harbor tour) Both tours were excellent! We aren't young chickens and still learned so much. Warning...even though the harbor tour is only an hour and one half, you still need your sunscreen...YIKES....red nose here I come. Sound system is excellent so you won't miss a single word. Watch for dolphins for sure as you learn. Even though we loved the harbor tour, I have to say the carriage tour is awesome in large part to Tom. What a knowledgeable man. The love for the area is all over him. We highly recommend both tours and hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Nice carriage tour, but the information given by the guide is not the most interesting about Charleston. A bit boring.

Recommend with some qualifiers

When we read the description, it sounded as though it required a very strict adherance getting there exactly on time, so we rushed to get to the "Red Barn". However, when we got there about 4 minutes late, we had to wait about 30 minutes for the next one. Added to that was the possibility of jamming four people on a seat, which with the hot weather and some folks being quite hefty, it was a challenge. To their credit, when my husband and I demurred to squeeze in, they easily accomodated us to the next ride. Again to their credit, our guide was VERY knowledgeable. We sat in the front row so were able to hear everything and ask whatever questions we wanted.

Lovely Trip on a rainy day, May 7, 2013

We took the 9:30 carriage ride on May 7, 2013 which was a rainy day however the rain spoiled nothing. We had a wonderful time and our tour guide was great. Gay was our guide and she was very knowledgeable and funny, a good balance of both. I was with my 76 year old mother, my sister and her 32 year old daughter and we all had a great time. This is a great way to see a lot of Charleston in an hour. I highly recommend.

A great way to see Charleston and hear historical "tidbits" that you might not read about in a history book--tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.!

Good introductory tour

The weather was bad, a pity but my wife did get quite wet as the rain came in and went down the plastic seating. Side screens would have restricted our view. Guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic with plenty of knowledge of the history of the area. There was plenty to see and we finished off our time by walking part of some of the other routes available from the same company.

Just ok

We found our tour guide Bob to be very pleasant and we enjoyed very much seen the city however he was very repetitive and talking about the houses and their architecture. He talked about this a lot and didn't go into very much history. In all fairness, he did say it would be a general tourand we could help guide it by asking questions. We didn't ask a lot of questions but was surprised it was so focused on basic architecture and when houses were built. We did have a small child that was a bit fussy so we were a bit distracted, and thankfully he just pretended not to notice. The carriages were beautiful and comfortable, but overall I would say it was all a bit boring. Young children would certainly not enjoy it.

Lack of Information
Fri, May 3  4:45 PM gedeon58 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Unfortunately we did not learn anything about Charleston on the tour. I think the tour guide was tired. He spent the majority of the time talking about his home town, Spartanburg, and making conversation with the passengers. While I support interaction, I was really counting on the tour to be a nice little overview of Charleston. I'm terribly sorry to say I would not recommend this service unless someone told me there was a far more knowledgable tour guide available. This was my first time to Charleston, and my husband has been many times. He thought a carriage ride would be a neat way for me to hear about Charleston too. He actually was telling me history about the city as we were riding around, and the guide was speaking to the other passengers about Spartanburg. Perhaps there is some sort of course the guides should take prior to taking groups out for tours. It was more a "ride" for us. We didn't walk away with any new information. My husband and I wondered if it was due to his lack of knowledge about the particular route they had assigned him. Either way, I would hope for all the guides to be familiar with each route to best provide the guests a pleasant and educational experience.
