A great way to see Charleston and hear historical "tidbits" that you might not read about in a history book--tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.! |

The weather was bad, a pity but my wife did get quite wet as the rain came in and went down the plastic seating. Side screens would have restricted our view. Guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic with plenty of knowledge of the history of the area. There was plenty to see and we finished off our time by walking part of some of the other routes available from the same company. |

We found our tour guide Bob to be very pleasant and we enjoyed very much seen the city however he was very repetitive and talking about the houses and their architecture. He talked about this a lot and didn't go into very much history. In all fairness, he did say it would be a general tourand we could help guide it by asking questions. We didn't ask a lot of questions but was surprised it was so focused on basic architecture and when houses were built. We did have a small child that was a bit fussy so we were a bit distracted, and thankfully he just pretended not to notice. The carriages were beautiful and comfortable, but overall I would say it was all a bit boring. Young children would certainly not enjoy it. |

Unfortunately we did not learn anything about Charleston on the tour. I think the tour guide was tired. He spent the majority of the time talking about his home town, Spartanburg, and making conversation with the passengers. While I support interaction, I was really counting on the tour to be a nice little overview of Charleston. I'm terribly sorry to say I would not recommend this service unless someone told me there was a far more knowledgable tour guide available. This was my first time to Charleston, and my husband has been many times. He thought a carriage ride would be a neat way for me to hear about Charleston too. He actually was telling me history about the city as we were riding around, and the guide was speaking to the other passengers about Spartanburg. Perhaps there is some sort of course the guides should take prior to taking groups out for tours. It was more a "ride" for us. We didn't walk away with any new information. My husband and I wondered if it was due to his lack of knowledge about the particular route they had assigned him. Either way, I would hope for all the guides to be familiar with each route to best provide the guests a pleasant and educational experience. |

We arrived early to see the horses and mules and we were able to see some of the horses get new shoes. The staff was super friendly and the horses, mules and chickens were great entertainment.
The tour itself was very informative, the guide was knowledgeable and funny. We loved the ride and would do it again in the future. Highly recommend this ride. |

I read quite a few reviews while researching companies and Palmetto Carriage got mostly excellent reviews. They were right! My wife and I enjoyed our carriage ride through the streets of Charleston. Guide was very entertanining and informative pointing out quite a few things that I didn't know about Charleston's part in the Civil War. Well worth the $20. Get a coupon on their website to get a few bucks off! You will enjoy your hour-long ride and wish you had at least another hour when it comes to an end! |

The night before our tour, we watched Palmetto washing and caring for their mules while we enjoyed an incredible dinner at Cru Restaurant. We decided then that we would tour with them the next day. I'm glad we did. I purchased the tickets on-line for 2 pm the next day. We arrived a bit early and were able to take the 1:45 tour. Tom, driver and tour director, was very knowledgeable about Charleston history and architecture. His presentation was informative and amusing. The carriage was comfortable and our mules were pros! Palmetto is a first-class and professional operation. Our tickets include 4 hours of parking downtown, near the Palmetto barn - plenty of time to grab lunch before the tour or after. |

We like to find out as much as we can about an area before we start our visit. The carriage ride as well as the harbor cruise was a inexpensive and informative way to acquaint us with the area. |

I think that the tour was good overall. I felt like there were a few gaps in talking where it might have been nice to have a little more history. I would still definitely recommend it. |
