Palmetto Carriage Tour & Harbor Tour

My wife and I enjoyed both of these activities. Ron, our driver on the Carriage Tour was entertaining and very informative. It was fun to watch Carter and Cash (our mule team) interact as they pulled us around the streets of Charleston. I highly recommend the Palmetto Carriage Tour. We also enjoyed the harbor tour....the sights were impressive and the Captain provided an awesome history lesson during our 90 minute excursion.

Tour 3

We were on tour 3. It was very informative. We sat in the back row of the carriage and were able to clearly hear the tour guide. He turned and talked to us, not the mules. When we visit again, we would go on another carriage ride, except that we would not want to go on tour 3 again. We would like to see other sites. There's no guarantee that we would get another tour number. We hear that the Battery tour is the best one, but we don't know the tour number for that one.

We had a great guide and told us so much about the history of the areas that we toured. The weather was great and the town of Carlestron was super the entire week that we were there. Will plan to come back again.

We had a very limited time in Charleston so we did the carriage and harbor tour to see and learn as much as we could. The carriage guide was exceptional. He infused humor into the facts and was inclusive to everyone. The harbor tour was fine too, and the captain knew his stuff. We want to spend time in Charleston on our next pass through because of things we learned on the tour. It was money well spent!

The ride was informative and worth going on. Easy to find. Just enought time to tour the area. Well kept facility. Tour guides spoke indepth of the town history in a lighthearted fun way. Parking was tight, but available near the site.

This was our first trip to Charleston and the first activity of our trip. What a wonderful way to see Charleston! The tour was just wonderful! Was a very comfortable ride both in the carriage and during the tour. Very welcoming and interesting. Nice to get a bit of the flavor and history of Charleston from a tour guide, Myron, who obviously loves this city. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Charleston and would take the tour again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful tour of your city!

I booked a private carriage for my boyfriend's 50th birthday. It was a great surprise for him, and a FABULOUS excursion! The route we had took us by Rainbow Row and the places we wanted to see. We had so much fun, we would've done another tour for another route if we hadn't have had dinner reservations. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Getting to know Charleston

My wife and I recently moved to Charleston from New England by way of Charlotte -- we lived in North Carolina for a year. Its hard to be away from the friends and family you've known your whole life; so its nice to be able to get to know the city which is your new home. Our tour guide was amazing, with a great grasp of local history and legend, and was adept at answering our questions. (Being a patriot, as well as something of a history buff, I was surprised to learn that the Gadsden who created the "Don't Tread On Me " flag lived in this very place) I would whole-heartedly recommend this carriage tour

The tour was not what I expected. i thought I'd get a very informational tour about various important locations in the Charleston Historic district with a very entertaining and factual tour guide. First of all, even though she joked about it early on, we truly did get the slowest mules they had to offer. We were dragged through the tour at a pace slower then I could walk and could clearly see that the pace of other wagons was greater than ours. The tour guide was a small, gray haired old woman who was very boring, her sense of humor was so dry that you couldnt tell if there was a joke being told, she was very opionated even to the point of my wife and I looking at each other with a puzzled 'where did that come from' look, and very random in terms of what she felt she wanted to point out or talk about. No flow or consistency to the trip and I was very disinterested and looking forward to the tour ending and getting to dinner only 20 mins into the tour. My 4 yr old had the right idea as he took out a coloring book and some toys and sat on the seat and played once he realized how slow a ride this was. It was overpriced for what we got- $60 for the 3 of us to go, made me wish I chose the cheaper tours I had seen with better discounts and not jamming in that hidden $2 a person city charge that wasnt built into the fee. To be fair there were 2 positives- we did get 4 hrs of free parking in their lot which was more than enough to have dinner. and half the tour was in shady areas. However, the second half was not and conveniently when we did stop to hear her ramblings, I was on the side of the carriage where the sun shone in on me making an already exhausting experience even that much worse. Overall, while another tour guide might have been better (I was routing to get a guy who had just let a group off to rousing applause and tips), and maybe not a reflection on the company overall, they are responsible for hiring their guides and need to do an evaluation or unannounced trip on one of her tours. I will not recommend this tour to anyone I know in future trips to Charleston and will have no desire to go on another one. I wish I could get my money back and had spent it on the aquarium or going to fort sumter.
