Our guide, Karen was very intelligent and comfortable to be with! We walked at a nice pace and saw everything we expected. Even got a few little tidbits of information not expected... My 12 year old son is still talking about it. He studied Philadelphia and New York and other cities during this time period this year so it was nice that Karen really made imagining Revolutionary times in NYC easy for us. |

Put simply, Karen is probably the best historical tour guide I have ever had the privilege of listening to. She made the tour come alive, transporting us back in time to Revolutionary Era New York, not an easy thing to do given the hustle and bustle of the modern world surrounding us. She was accommodating to everyone, wanted to learn about everyone's background and always offered excellent answers to every question posed to her. She also stayed after the tour was over so she and I could talk about our mutual interests in history. My tour group was quite small--only 5 people if I remember correctly--which made the experience seem really individualized. As for the tour itself, you will visit all the areas significant to Revolutionary Era New York--Trinity Church, St. Paul's, Bowling Green Park, Federal Hall, etc., and will learn about the strategic importance of the city during the war. It kindled my interest in the city's history, and now I am busy watching Ric Burns' 1999 documentary, which I highly recommend for anyone with at least a passing interest in the rise of New York. Now I look forward to potentially going on the Civil War walking tour. Overall, no complaints here. |

When we decided to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary we were looking for things to do in NYC. We already knew our dinner plans but wanted to do something in the early afternoon. We came across the Revolutionary Era Tour and glad we did. We not only had a wonderful time we got a thorough and enlightening education in the history of NYC during the 18th century. Our tour guide was enthusiastic, thorough and insightful. She was also very well versed and engaged us as we walked thru the city.
We could have walked for several more hours listening to the history of NYC.
We would certainly recommend this to everyone, especially students and young adults looking to really understand how America was formed!
Bravo! |

Our guide, Karen is absolutely amazing. She certainly knows history and presents it in such an enjoyable, fun way. Her research and ability to quote original sources is to be applauded. In a time when American history in our schools is presented as mundane and revisionist, a fact to which our high school senior and college sophomore will agree. Karen brings freshness and reminds us who those that fought and struggled for our independence really were. One comes away from the tour with a new sense of pride in America and the values for which she stands. We can't wait to take her Civil War tour. |
