Karen, our tour guide, really made the colonial time period come alive for us - presenting historical facts about the key figures and events which took place in New York City at the time in a very exciting and relatable manner. Karen kept the tour moving while allowing time for interesting peripheral discussion with the group. It was a wonderful experience which I highly recommend!

our son who lives in Manhatten had heard about this tour and recommended it. We enjoyed the revolutionary war hx and information about the early settlers in the city. Our guide was very informative and personable. It was the right amount of time.

My husband and I have wanted to do a walking tour of the lower end of Manhattan for the longest time. We are New Yorkers and thought it was a beautiful day why not take a walking tour. It was everything we could have asked for and more. Our guide Karen was intelligent, interesting and full of information that we never had head before about the history of NY pre Revolutionary War. We liked it so much we are looking forward to her Civil War tour of NY. If you like history or even a little bit curious then this is the tour for you.

I'm somewhat of a history affecionado and am so glad I took this Revolutionary War Tour! Karen was very knowledgable and it was so exciting to walk around lower Manhattan , taking in sights that have so much relevance in America's beginnings. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the significance that New York City had in forming this country. Doug

My boyfriend and I had a very intimate tour and our tour guide was an absolute historian! She was so zealous in sharing lower Manhattan's historical elements that in every footstep she took, I could just tell how much she loves her role! Absolutely wonderful storyteller and shared details about New York's history I never thought I'd uncover. Manhattan will never be the same.

We had a fascinating time on our Revolutionary War tour. Even though the weather was snowy, it didn't dampen our guide's enthusiasm for the topic of New York's role during this time. We saw interesting sites and our guide had great visuals (maps, documents from the time, etc.) to bring it all to life. She is a great storyteller and clearly passionate about her topic (without being overwhelming). We would definitely book with Patriot Tours and/or Zerve again!

We were a group of 3 on a cold winter's day. We had Karen as our tour guide and she was wonderful. She was full of knowledge, even when we asked questions not directly related to this tour; questions about buildings we were passing. She was information and friendly and made this a great day for us. We ended up in Fraunces Tavern for a fireside drink and will go back for a meal. We also went to the Growler for lunch. Was a great day!

I am a real history buff and was very interested in this tour. I have been to NYC many times since I was a teenager. So I have seen and done most everything. I decided to look into historic tours because I knew that there was much history to be found in the city. Our tour had 5 people plus our tour guide, Karen. I loved the small group because the city is so noisy it was easy for us to gather round closely to hear. Karen was VERY knowledgable and enthusiastic on the subject which made it very real and entertaining at the same time. The different historical people actually came alive with Karen's tidbits of information about the individuals and background information on the time period. If you enjoy history and want to learn more as you see the actual places it took place in, then this is the tour for you!!!

Great history of Revolutionary era NYC

Karen did an amazing job telling the story of Revolutionary NYC! I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in history. It is a 'heavier' tour in that it makes you think unlike other light-hearted tours in NYC. Very young children may not enjoy it and would suggest middle school age or older. Not as much walking as other walking tours in NYC as it was mostly standing and listening at about 10 major sites in lower Manhattan. If it is cold, as it was for us, bundle up as there isn't a tremendous amount of walking to keep you warm. Highly recommend this tour and would likely do again to fully absorb all the history!

Excellent Tour

I am from NY so naturally I am a skeptical cynic. I was expecting a dry scripted "canned" tour but I needed to do something educational with my kids so I took a chance. I'm glad I did. First off, our guide asked us a few questions. At first I thought it was small talk but later I realized that she was gathering information so she could relate points of interest and facts that were specifically interesting to us. Our tour was not only interesting but factual as well. As with any historical topic the narrators bias in re telling the stories can be an issue. Our guide met us holding a stack of documents and maps. Throughout the tour she would pull from the stack to show us original documents that related to the historical events of the tour. The stories she told were all supplemented by original pictures, broadsides, articles and maps, she even quoted the diaries of people present during certain historical events. Our guide painted vivid pictures of what happened in NYC during the Revolutionary War. Of course the sights of NYC are amazing in themselves but when Patriot Tours puts those sights in historical context it's like stepping right into the past. In a city filled with so much contemporary art and culture it can be easy to forget about its history. I recommend taking a Patriot Tour to anyone with a bit of intellectual curiosity.

Wonderful -- one of the best historical tour ever!
Wed, Nov 27, 13   10:00 AM juleenjack Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Karen was engaging, energetic and passionate. Very informed and able to relate history to current events now. Will recommend to everyone I know. My teenage daughters enjoyed it as well! Will take my husband next time we are in town. Wish we had more people who understand the parallels to our day and our early American History. Solutions are found in learning from the past -- but it begins with learning our history. This tour should be mandatory for anyone who loves America:).
