The Patriot Tour Revolutionary walk is a reminder that NYC is full amazing things in plain sight, including amazing remnants of American history. The guide was enthusiastic, good-humored and knowledgeable. She was eager to answer questions and to elaborate in response to the interests of the party. She came equipped with an entire sheaf of copies of a propos Revolutionary era maps, woodcuts, broadsheets, and newspapers. The walk itself is not very long or strenuous, but it is almost entirely out-of-doors, so appropriate dress is necessary..

Great for a student of the Revolutionary War

This was a good tour, with several interesting buildings visited. Some lengthy stories were told, which were informative and interesting, but we would like to have covered a larger variety of points of interest, with more architectural information in passing. Karen, our guide knew her information and details and presented some interesting copies of historical documents and drawings. Saturday is definitely the best day to do this tour, as the traffic and crowds are not as imposing. I'm sure Karen tailors her presentation to her audience and would accommodate older children. As we had been reading about New York's history for a couple of years, we found it most enjoyable.

Loved our guide

We really enjoyed the tour. I had looked into activities to do while in NYC prior to leaving home and found a variety of things that looked interesting. There were a number of great reviews for this tour so we decided to give it a try and were happy we did. I have been to NYC a few times but in the past, when visiting lower Manhattan, I honestly wasn't sure what to do or look for. This tour showed us exactly what we were hoping to see... sites, history, current attractions... it was informative yet entertaining and fun. Our guide was an adorable woman who was a ex-exchange employee. She had an obvious love of both New York and American history and though it was quite a lesson her love of the topic made the 2 1/2 hours fly by. I wanted to know more and to see more. Others have said there is a lot of walking, BUT, it was slow and leisurely for the most part with a number of stops and plenty of time to rest. I would bet it was around 2-3 miles that you actually walked but it's a 2 1/2 hour tour so it is spread out and easy. Don't let the walking stop you from participating. It was worth the money and the effort!

The little extras about the people, time period and locations of the history of the area made the story of New York's story in and about the American Revolution come to life.

The Revolutionary Era Walking Tour was a good length-about two and a half hours-and our guide was very enthusiastic and presented new and interesting information. I felt like it was reasonably priced and very enjoyable.

We had already taken the revolutionary era tour which was incredible, so we knew what to expect. The tour was fascinating, educational, thought provoking and also amusing at times. Karen is the most knowledgeable guide I've seen in a long time, and her passion for the material is clear. She lives and breathes it. She gives the full picture and not just disconnected details, which is crucial. She is also a pleasure to talk to - we stayed to chat with her for about an hour after the tour ended. We'll definitely take the third tour when we get back to NYC!

Our tour guide provided a thorough overview of the key role that the city and its residents played in our struggle for independence before, during, and after the American Revolutionary War. The information was factual and balanced, and the guide made a few references to the research she does for the tour. She was able to convey the historical information by connecting key events and the relationships among key people over time, and she was able to relate the information in a story-like format. She was clearly passionate about the topic- and responded to all of our questions. She also made several suggestions so that we could acquire additional information about certain topics and events, and where to go to see additional historical artifacts related to the revolution. She did a great job keeping everyone engaged. The 2.5 hours went very quickly. I saw some sights that I had never noticed before- and I grew up in the NYC area and have spent much time downtown. I left the tour feeling all the more proud of being a New Yorker and an American. I would definitely try another tour offered by Patriot Tours.

Impressively knowledgable with good story-telling

Few actual artifacts remain from the Revolutionary War era, so it takes a lot of good content, excellent story-telling, and no blank moments to get our Enthusiastic Recommendaton, and Karen delivered! We're going to try her Civil War era tour when next we vist NYC. At a couple of stops we noticed over-large tour groups with the people in the back not even able to see their headset & PA equipped guides, and we were so grateful for Karen's small group sizes and personal approach. The detailed texture and color of her stories were very satisfying. Highly Recommended.

Wonderful, well-paced and left me wanting more...

Karen said that she does this six days a week, but honestly, she seemed to have the enthusiasm of sharing her passion with friends rather than being a tour guide to strangers. She was easy to understand and her enthusiasm never waned. She went over the 2.5 hours without any complaint as she wanted to share a few more pieces of Revolutionary Naval history for my husband, a Reserve Naval officer. I noticed that my husband had downloaded some ebooks on Washington after the tour. I am back to work now, but I think about this walking tour the most when thinking about our long weekend in NYC, even though we did a lot of amazing things (plays, 911 Memorial, etc.). I am already talking up the tour to neighbors and family. I was really touched and inspired by Karen to learn more about the amazing history of our country. Thank you Karen for your career change to Patriot Tour Guide owner - you certainly have enriched our lives for the better.

Excellent walking tour of lower Manhattan about its role in the American Revolution. Our tour guide, Karen, was very knowledgeable and had some great stories that you don't get in the history books. The tour was 2 1/2 hours but it went by very quickly. Recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about lower Manhattan and\or the American Revolution. From Long Island and was looking to learn more about Manhattan and this was definitely a good way to do that. Hope to take the Civil War tour soon.
