The tour was absolutely fantastic. My wife and I attended the tour and learned so much about the life and times of NYC during the Revolutionary War time period. The tour was great, and would recommend it in a second to anyone that is interested in this country's history. Our tour guide was, by far, one of the best we've ever had. She kept us engaged the whole time and showed us that the best parts of history never make it to the textbooks. Great tour!

Interesting insights to the hidden corners of NYC
Fri, Sep 26  12:00 PM northernx4 Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
Hidden in plain sight that is. buildings that we walk by without giving a second or even first thought to, are loaded with history which she revealed to us. Looking up at carvings few people see, standing where George Washington stood, seeing the room as he saw it....its good to slow down and look around and this tour does just that. She was wonderful and full of information. We went on the Civil War walk and I look forward to her other walks as well. Highly recommended.

I've been wanting to take this tour for several rears, and I was not even remotely disappointed. There were just two of us, a friend and myself. Karen, the guide, displayed an encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of the AR, and her energy and enthusiasm were commendable. She held our attention for nearly three solid hours. As all the other reviews indicate, this is a walking tour not to be missed if your interests include the AR and the early history of NYC. Bring your walking shoes!

We were lucky to visit Revolutionary NY with Karen on Labor Day, when Lower Manhattan was pretty quiet. Karen is an enthusiastic, very well-informed guide who really made the period come alive. We learned a lot and had a very interesting morning. We would recommend this tour and do their Civil War tour in the future.

Our Revolutionary Era Walking tour of Lower Manhattan by Karen, of Colonial Tours, was wonderful. Very informative, lively and engaging. Karen has vast knowledge of the geography and history of the area, which she delivers in an entertaining manner. The picture that Karen paints is vivid, bringing to life the people from the past who made New York, and our country what it is today. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in early American History.

I originally booked this tour because my 10-year-old son is a history buff. Ended up we both loved the tour and learned so much. It was easy walking and even got to see the WTC area. I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Tour and Tour Guide

We had done the Revolutionary war tour last summer and we were interested in learning more about the lower Manhattan architecture. Karen didn't disappoint. She is very knowledgeable and as a lifetime New Yorker she has grown up with the changes that have taken place in lower Manhattan. She brings a great perspective to the place the buildings on the tour played in the history of early New York up through today. Each building she included on her tour had a story and a back story and she was able to weave all of this into a very interesting and informative 2-hour conversation!! Thank you. We started at Bowling Green and ended at City Hall but the walking was leisurely and unlike last year when the temp was 90+ degrees, the weather was picture perfect. We did go into one two of the buildings so there are some stairs to be negotiated. You are in lower Manhattan so you can always find a bathroom if needed.

Very happy of our experience. Not really for children More walking and seeing -- less speaking would be perfect.
