| As a local resident, a short distance across the river, it was interesting to learn so much history about the Lower East Side. I cannot count the number of times I visited the area and new nothing about the history of the area! Also, on the tour, we were taken to little areas of the Lower East Side that I was not aware of. The tour it full of interesting information. The tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. I would recommended this tour for history buffs and local residents that are interested in learning about their neighborhood! | ||||||

| I wanted a different but interesting tour of Manhattan and this was it. The tour was very interesting and informative. The tour guide was enthusiastic and very friendly. I liked the idea a small group on a walking tour, everyone could hear the guide clearly. The tour guide had visual aids and provided very interesting facts and information about Manhattan in the Revolutionary times. The guide really made the historical facts interesting and we really learned alot in just a short amount of time -almost 3 hrs but it sure didn't feel like it . The walking wasn't hard, perfect pace and saw interesting sights I would have missed if on my own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Manhattan and learning about the history. I can't wait to take the civil war tour and I hope more tours are added. This was a perfect, informative walking tour. | ||||||

| This was quite simply one of the best tours I've been on. The tour guide, was also the owner of the company, and was enormously well informed, and personally intrested in her subject. She was not just reading a script written by others. She spent a lot of the time talking about interesting people and events that are not that well known. This really made the tour come alive. | ||||||

| My family really enjoyed the Revolutionary War presentation. The historian was outstanding. In our opinion, the walking tour could be improved in the following ways: (1) Keep the discussion to 2 hours, more is not always better, (2) Help the audience understand the time line of events, jumping from event to event in a non- linear fashion was sometimes difficult to follow, (3) Teach both the macro and micro, the narrative is well told by laying out the big picture of the conflict and then personalizing it with entertaining stories about the individuals involved in the places that these event occurred.. These are mild criticisms as the walk was a lot of fun and the presenter really knows and loves her subject. Thank you!! | ||||||

| We learned so much, which says a lot for two people who grew up in the New York City area. Karen, the tour leader, knew her stuff and was HIGHLY informative and we look forward to taking her other tours. We highly recommend Patriot Tours! | ||||||

| My co-workers and I enjoyed this very informative and fun tour of lower Manhattan and the Civil Era. Our guide was very well informed and very energetic. She provided so much fascinating info many "history" buffs may not have known about that time period. Highly recommend it and we look forward to joining another tour by this company. | ||||||

| This was a fascinating glimpse at a volatile period in our history that incorporated facts (and intriguing trivia!) from local, national and international scope and presented them in a concise timeline. This enables the guest to get a real feel not only for the New York as it was in the late 1700's, but how the actions and decisions of that time created what we know today as NYC and the USA. It will effect how you look at the City for the rest of your trip...and every trip afterward! | ||||||

| I was recommended to go on this tour by a friend in Oregon. He was so enthusiastic about the tour, that I brought my daughter and her friend with me. We learned so much history (that I wished I paid more attention to my history classes in school!) Karen (our guide) was charming, informative, and attentive to detail that it made it the most entertaining tour. She answered all of our questions and had pictures to back up the history as we went along on the tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York. Next time I'm going to go on the Civil War tour. | ||||||

| I was very pleased with the tour and especially our guide, she was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. She shared many wonderful stories that really captivated my interest. I would have liked to have been able to actually go into Frances Tavern and also spend some time in the museum where the first inauguration of our first president took place. Having lived in NYC for a long time I was still suprised by sights I had never seen. I would highly recommend this tour to chlidren also because no history book can explain this era like our guide did. | ||||||

| Coming from San Francisco, we just don't have the same kind of "old" as New York City, so we especially enjoyed finding out about the early days of Manhatten and our nation. The walk was thorough but not too strenuous. I liked being on the streets rather than just seeing things from a bus window. Our guide provided great insights and obviously knows her stuff. One thing that I would have appreciated was some pointing out of other sites that we passed along the way (the NY Stock Exchange, that bull sculpture, Ground Zero). Of course, I am sure it is hard to stick to the point of the Rev War with centuries of history in every block! All-in-all, the tour was good and I recommend it. Because of the tour, our 12 year old has a much better sense of how people were living in those days -- and what it meant to be an occupied land -- than he could ever get from a book. | ||||||

The Rudest Tour Guide(owner) Ever!

| It took us 30 minutes to find the meeting place - the NYC Police couldn't figure it out either, but eventually we stumbled on the location. We expressed our difficulties finding the meeting place, and several others in the group expressed similar concerns. Then the Owner/Tour guide said the directions were "easy to understand," but we and others noted that they were not, and those of us who speak English as a second language had particular difficulty with following them (not to mention the cab driver, MTA employee, and the traffic police officer). She actually told us that maybe we should just get our money back since we wouldn't understand the tour anyhow since we couldn't understand the directions to find the meeting spot ... since English was not our first language and we were not able to follow her perfect instructions. Apparently, those of us whose first language is not English are too stupid to participate in this activity. We decided to give her a chance to redeem herself, but she continued to be rude during the tour and probably worse, the majority of her content was not civil war era information. We paid for a civil war era history tour, but instead more than 50% of the information she presented pertained to after 1900 and much of it regarded architecture. We left during the last 15 minutes because the rudeness directed at us never let up. BTW, I am a retired American history professor . This tour guide/owner needs to work on her civil war information, customer service orientation, and manners. | ||||||
