Revolutionary Era Walking Tour worth every step!

If you love history or just want to learn more about lower Manhattan in the 1700s, take this tour! Karen, our tour guide, was a walking encyclopedia of facts, names, dates, and events, all woven into very interesting stories. To see the old buildings still standing was incredible. Take this tour! You walk slowly and stop often. I can't wait to take another one!

We recently had the pleasure of taking part in the Revolutionary Era Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan! What a wonderful experience! I have already told a number of friends about this delightful adventure! Our guide for the tour was fabulous and very, very informative! I am going to recommend this walk to all friends planning to visit NYC. It was one of the highlights of our time in the Big Apple. Lawana Conry Plano, Texas

This is an excellent tour of lower Manhattan. The tour guide was also the owner and she was extremely knowledgable of the area in general, and the history in particular. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the historical aspects of New York City or even someone who justs wants to see some of the historical sights of the city.

The guide brought us back into history. She painted a picture of the physical and political landscape that spanned a period of about 5 years. She drew in many revolutionary war references from today as in Duane and Reade. Overall, it was interesting and I was happy to have made the trip. I recommend it to everyone.

Nice Tour, Less Talking, More Buildings

Our tour guide was good, very detailed and knowledgable. I learned many new facts about NYC. I was born and raised in NYC and worked downthown for years but never stopped to really look at what was around me. The buildings we saw were amazing, some I didn't even know existed. I am now going to take a more detailed tour of several of the churches we saw on the tour. The only negative was I felt the tour was a little too detailed at times. Otherwise it was informative and fun and I have already recommended it to others.

Just returned from New York where we had a fabulous tour with Patriot Tours. Can't recommend it highly enough. The guide was one of the most knowledgeable I've seen. She not only really knew her history but knew how to bring it to life for us. My daughter and I both loved it and highly recommend both the tour and the tour guide. They were both fabulous! Our guide, Karen, was extremely knowledgeable. She made the Revolution come alive with the stories of the famous and not-so-famous New Yorkers who played a part in our Nation’s early history.

The walk is easy walking, not stressful and entertaining / educational. Our tour guide was very friendly, open to all sorts of questions and an excellent listener and speaker.

I had a wonderful time on the tour. I have lived in NYC on and off for the last 8 years and I never knew the history of the city. The tour was a great glimpse into NYC as it used to be. I HIGHLY recommend!

I took my history-loving dad on the Rev. War tour this past summer, and though the two of us ended up being the whole group, Karen was an enthusiastic leader, well-versed in every aspect of lower Manhattan during the late-1700s onward. She paints pictures of the local citizens of the time through stories and anecdotes (many of them with names we all recognize on street signs these days), which really helps to make the tour entertaining for a non-history buff like me. As a local, I learned a lot about the city that I'd never known, most obviously what an essential role NYC played during the War -- one that's not always taught in the textbooks. As for my dad, he loved the one-on-one history lesson, and couldn't wait to make like George Washington and head to the Fraunces Tavern, which Karen had pointed out to us, afterward for a celebratory Bloody Mary.

Our guide was excellent- she really made the tour enjoyable. It was facinating to learn the role that NYC played in the revolutionary war period. This tour was my favorite part of our recent trip to NYC. I highly recommend it.

The perfect guide

We were two couples from Minnesota and had a great time. It's wonderful to walk the city with a guide who is bursting with knowledge--not just someone who knows the script. So we couldn't be more positive. Whether you love history or not, there was a lot there for you. My one suggestion: my legs aren't as good as the guides. Three hours without sitting is too much for me. With a little planning, she could find places for people on the tour to sit occasionally while she talks. Not to sit and waste time, just to sit as she talks. I found them for myself. But there where steps to sit on, benches to sit on, etc. She's so enthusiastic about what she describing, I don't think this crosses her mind. If she just went to each of the locations and looked around for a moment, there are places where people could sit as she talks. It was great. We'll recommend it to friends.
