| This was without doubt one of the best walking tours I have ever taken. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and clearly loves her subject matter. She answered all questions with ease and was a pleasure to spend a few hours with. We learned quite a bit and will highly recommend this tour to all our friends travelling to New York. If you enjoy history even a little bit, do not miss this tour!! | ||||||

| this was one of the most enjoyable mornings I have had in a long time. Karen is very well prepared with the background, and history, of New York, during the Revolutionary Era. I am fairly familiar with lower Manhatten, but I learned a lot more. This is a very rewarding activity, and I have already recommended the tour to several of my friends, and business associates. Keep up the Great work. | ||||||

| The guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgable on her topic. Also very familiar with the local area and other things of interest to us. At end of tour was very helpful to get us going to whatever we wanted to do next. | ||||||

| My husband chose the Revolutionary War Walking tour as a way to enjoy our free afternoon in NY. I wasn't sure it would be as much fun for me, but decided to go along. This tour turned out to be so detailed and interesting that I had as much or more fun than my husband did. The facts that the tour guide presented were not dry , boring statistics. She had fully researched her talk and included many intimate little verbal portraits of how life was during the 1700's. She also had illustrations and maps to show us how NY looked at the time. I had never even considered what NY looked like before it was NY. The tour ended up being nearly 3 hours due to the thoroughness of the information given at each of the sites we visited. The actual walking was not strenuous and we even got to sit for a while at one location. We plan to schedule a day for the Civil War tour given by this same guide as I anticipate another afternoon of exciting facts and good conversation with her. She really knows her stuff. Highly recommend this to both history buffs and those, like myself, who have forgotten more than we ever knew. about the Revolutionary War. ( thanks the Mailman family.) | ||||||

| I found this tour to be pretty much exactly what it was advertised. The guide was able to give in depth history on the sites where we stopped and answer most of the questions posed. I never felt rushed or hurried. The tour was able to give me a good sense of what the area might have looked like during the time focused on. | ||||||

| We cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It was excellent. Karen brims with enthusiasm and knowlege and is able to put it all over in a very clear and engaging manner. A lot of information is imparted about locations and context but it is never dry or dull - just completely fascinating. This is all supplemented by very good use of maps and illustrations. If you just want a wander around whilst having a few sights pointed out this is probably not the tour for you but if you really want to understand and feel the history of the sights and their context in the city and in this key event in American history then sign up now! We were only sorry that our schedule did not permit us to go on Karen's Civil War tour as well - next time definitely. | ||||||

| This tour was great. The group was small which made it very interactive. The guide was very knowledgeable, and was able to answer all of our questions. She really enjoys giving the tours, and she makes the tour a lot of fun. We took the Revolutionary War tour and liked it so well, we decided to take this one. We just wish there were more tours to take! This is a great way to see Lower Manahattan and learn about history! | ||||||

| Excellent walk. Guild knew her stuff and answered everyones questions. Would highly recommend this walk to anyone interested in history and seeing more of NYC than expected. After the walk, Battery Park was very interesting place to spend a couple of hours relaxing or with the vendors. | ||||||

| It was Memorial Day and myself and some friends thought a historical tour would be a great way to learn more about New York City. We live here but we knew that there is so much history that we pass by every day without knowing any better. We hoped the tour would enlighten us and we were not disappointed; it easily surpassed our expectations. The reason was our excellent tour guide, Karen, who did a great job of not only teaching us some of the history of the city, but did it in a way that kept our interest throughout the entire tour. This was largely due to her style of mixing in stories alongside pointing our various buildings and landmarks. I only wish my history classes had been run like this. I probably would have learned a lot more back then if they had. | ||||||

Not for young children

| My husband and I brought our seven year old daughter on this tour because she watches Liberty Kids about the Revolutionary War, and learned a little bit about it in school. We all thought this would be a great way to understand the war better and learn a little bit more of what happened in our city. What we found was information that was way over her head. We didn't finish the tour because she was so bored and really didn't care about the sites. The tour is NOT ment for young children as they have a short attention span and it wasn't fun for her. I think this tour would have been fun for her had there been some kind of brouchure with activities on it for her. We took her to Ellis Island and they have a little brouchure that kids use along with the tour that make it fun for the kids. I think this would be a good idea to use for this tour as well. As for my husband and I we would love to take the tour again without our children. Even though we left early, we found the tour to be full of information and the tour guide was very nice. She was really great at answering questions not just about Manhattan but about the other boroughs in the city and what roll they played in the war. | ||||||

| The guide was knowledgeable and very cordial, ready for any question. While the tour is packed with interesting highlights, the pace is comfortable and unhurried. Whether your interest in this historical period is casual (at least a little prior knowledge is recommended) or specialized, you will come away having learned more. The guide makes a point of adjusting her commentary according to the background and interests (warfare, politics, commerce) of the individuals taking the tour. Well worth the time and money. | ||||||

| Wow! Our guide really knew her "stuff". She was friendly and took a lot of time to give us a really wonderful tour. Her insight and knowledge of the sites and related material on the tour made a very informative and fun time for us all. We live in a very historical part of Northwest Pennsylvania near Lake Erie and it was nice to get the "East Coast" point of view about this important time in our nation's history. BRAVO!! | ||||||

| My husband and I have been on dozens of walking tours in European and Asian cities. We both agreed this was one of the best. Karen's enthusiasm and knowledge supported by visuals was superb. We thought a two and a half hour tour would be long but the time flew by. Understanding history in the context of the city was so insightful. This tour is a special treat not to be missed. | ||||||

| What a wonderful tour! I was somewhat indifferent to a "Revolutionary War Tour" and couldn't imagine how anything currently in Manhattan could relate to that time. Boy, was I wrong! It seems like ALL of lower Manhattan is Colonial! Who knew?! Don't miss this one! | ||||||

| The Civil War Walking Tour was very enjoyable and informative. The guide was articulate and knowledgeable, and our group was small. It was a nice change of pace from the normal touristy things to do in New York like riding the double-decker tourist buses. I would rate the tour even higher for history buffs. | ||||||
