My husband & I were surprised to be the only ones on the tour. Karen was informative, personable & enthusiastic. We really enjoyed the time we spent together & feel we learned a lot. She had a wealth of information & not a drop of it boring. Thankyou for a lovely time.

Great Tour!

My 8 year old son is a history fanatic, particularly military history of the US. We've been on historical tours in DC as well as Boston but never in NY. I'm from NY and love this old section of town though I'd never realized the extent of history that was here. My son loved it too and was fully engaged for the entire tour. Karen did a great job of bringing the history to life and making it an enriching and memorable experience. We plan to to the Civil War walking tour on our next trip to NY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY US!!!!

Great wonderful sightseeing afternoon in New York
Wed, Dec 27, 06   1:15 PM pmcfadden Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My husband and I thoroughly recommend this tour and have told all our friends about it. This afternoon provided a wonderful visual for all of the books we've read about the revolutionary war (Jeff Shara) and movies (Gangs of New York). Our guide was well-informed, prepared, and enthusiastic. She was so helpful by providing laminated articles and pictures of the original "New Amsterdam" sights as compared with the current sights. The old Wall Street was amazing. St Paul's Chapel and Trinity Church - breathtaking historical landmarks. Although it was cold and windy, we didn't mind because we were "in the moment" and were prepared with hats, gloves, and warm shoes. Most importantly though, the guide kept us moving and through her stories of the activities by the Sons of Liberty and the militias. These gutsy New Yorkers and their independent spirit and heroics that helped this country win the war against England helped us tourists understand how the same gutsy New York spirit overcame 9/11. Our guide even allowed a quick stop at a Starbucks for some warm beverage and a rest room stop. A great afternoon and we will definitely take another tour.

Karen's knowledge of the Revolutionary Era made you feel as if she had lived this Era. She provided the information as if she were telling a cohesive story of the time. My husband and I would definitely take another one of her tours..

We truly enjoyed the tour. The great detailed history was more than we expected. We truly felt like we got more than we bargain for. We have recommended the tour to several people since then. It is a great tour idea. I hope it grows to more areas.

Just returned from New York where we had a fabulous tour with Patriot Tours. Can't recommend it highly enough. The guide was one of the most knowledgeable I've seen. She not only really knew her history but knew how to bring it to life for us. My daughter and I both loved it and highly recommend both the tour and the tour guide. They were both fabulous! Unbelievably interesting!

This walking tour turned out to be so much better than we had even anticipated. Warm, friendly and very knowledgeable, our guide had experience working in the financial district, which brought even more to the tour. Told in story form, and interwoven with current affairs, this historical walk through downtown Manhattan was an easy walk, full of humor, and unbelievably interesting. My 18 yr. old son thoroughly enjoyed it--now that says something! Don't miss this one!

Time well spent

There were 6 of us on the tour. - three middle-aged adults, two seniors, and one 8 year old. We all found it extremely interesting, and took away different highlights. The tour guide is clearly knowledgeable, and can tailor the content to the interests of the participants. She is enthusiastic and clearly happy to answer any questions before, during or even after the tour. There were lots of great stories about the individuals who helped shape this country. This is also a very good value for the cost.

Absolutely awesome. Highlight of our trip to NY

You will never see New York in the same way after this tour. The guide "connects the dots" through stories of individuals, city locations, and "what if" scenarios. It was truly a wonderful time, and we have recommended it to many friends who are traveling to NY. We did other walking tours (through other companies) that were boring and disjointed. This one was undeniably the best. Do this tour. You won't regret it!

Fascinating!

We took this tour on July 22, and have to give it rave reviews. I booked the tour for myself and my fiance, and another couple, as a present for my fiance's birthday. Both my fiance and my girlfriend are avid Revolutionary War Aficionados; me less so, but enthusiastic. It was informative, fun and our guide (the owner of the company) made it seem at times that we were really IN the New York of the 1700's. We all learned a lot (even the two "sort-of-experts") because there was so much more information that we'd never even heard of. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. We're thinking of taking the Civil War Tour in the fall. And lastly, I will never look at another Duane Reade drugstore without knowing what the names really mean! Thanks so much for a great day!

Patriot Tours - Colonial NewYork City - fantastic!

The tour guide, Karen, was enthusiastic and informative with well-researched information. The 2 1/2 hour tour actually ended up being a little over 3 hours which was most appreciated. We look forward to taking her Civil War tour of New York City.
