Entertaining and informative tour

The guide provided lots of historical facts about events during our Revolutionary era in New York. It has caused me to make many notes after the tour, and I'm following up by reading, in more detail, about the events and individuals from that time period. I'm looking forward to taking other tours during my subsequent visits to New York...

It was a very warm afternoon in Manhattan but my husband and I didn't let that interfere with this tour. He's a history buff; I'm a history novice. Our tourguide, Karen, was phenomenal! It was obvious she had done a lot of research of that era and New York City. She had so many stories and pictures and her passion for the history was evident in the tour she conducted. I was riveted! We had a great group of 14 people from all over and yes, it was hot, but there are sidewalk stands around the area where you can purchase water. We walked from City Hall down to Battery Park and she gave us so much fascinating information about the area, the buildings, the history. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys walking the city (it was not physically challenging, a nice pace) and even if you think you are not a history buff, you will become one because of this tour. It was fantastic! And well worth the price! It was hard to believe that over two hours had passed because of how interesting Karen made this tour. Don't pass this up!

Our guide was excellent- she really made the tour enjoyable. It was facinating to learn the role that NYC played in the revolutionary war period. This tour was my favorite part of our recent trip to NYC. I highly recommend it.

We went on the revolutionary era walking tour on July 4th with a group ranging in age from 12 to 85. Everyone loved it! The walking was not too strenuous, with many opportunities to rest for a few minutes at the the tour stops. Our very friendly tour leader was a delightful fountain of knowledge. Her descriptions and the photographs she brought really made the history come alive. I would love to take the other tours on future trips to NY. I have nothing but high praise.

Extremely informative, enjoyable, and interesting

My group consisted of 4 adults, including a young college student minoring in history. We joined 5 other adults for our walking tour with Karen, our extremely pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide. Karen is obviously well educated in American history, yet she shared her knowledge in a very personable and easily understood style. She communicated clearly, and without the need of a script or notes. The walk itself was not strenous and we saw many interesting NY landmarks. All 4 of us commented afterwards that it was a highlight of our trip, and we would highly recommend it to others.

This is a fantastic tour -- it allowed us to learn historical information that we had never known before. Our tour guide was unbelievably educated about the topic and has trained herself so thoroughly. Her antecdotes made the Revolutionary era come alive to us. Perfect group size with 9 guests. We would highly recommend this tour and would definitely use Patriot Tours again.

Excellent with only one negative.

My sister and I, who are in our mid fifties and early sixties, debated whether or not we could physically endure the walking involved in this tour. After careful consideration we decided to give it a try thinking we could always drop out if it proved too much for us. We were both very glad that we took the chance. Our group guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interesting. She enlivened the historical facts with stories of real humans who either struggled and yearned for independence or struggled to support the system and crown they loved. We on the other hand had our own struggles. We had been in New York for three days prior to your tour and had done a great deal of sightseeing so were already very tired. Your web site cautioned to arrive on time or the tour guide would start the tour without us. We were a few minutes early for the tour. However, our tour guide waited about thirty minutes for another person who had signed up for the tour just that morning. We had booked our tickets weeks in advance. The 30 minutes we stood waiting on this person made it very difficult for us to complete the tour. We did complete it but it was a struggle and we did not enjoy it as much as we could have. The guide even made a comment that this person was behaving in a selfish way to expect everyone to wait for her but she waited nevertheless. We would have enjoyed the tour much more if we had been able to leave on time and not stand around sapping our already limited strength.

Tour is an excellent & interesting history lesson!

The tour was fantastic! I knew very little about New York City's role in the civil war apart from a few highlights. My guide was extremely knowledgeable and the I learned a lot about how the city influenced the war. I know quite a bit about the overall war, but had no idea of all the ties to the war effort. The buildings and streets you walk down are amazing and the visuals along the way also help to bring the story alive. Even if you do not like history much, the tour is a wonderful way to see some of the side streets and lesser known places in lower Manhattan. I can't wait to take my husband with me sometime to see the same tour!

Our group really lucked out. There was a threat of ran, but thankfully the sun shown through the entire thing. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. She talked of many interesting facts that I had never known before. I dragged my best friend along with me, and despite the fact that she hates history, she loved the tour as well. I would recommend this to anyone!

An excellent afternoon

Karen was very friendly and approachable and had a wealth of knowledge to share about Manhattan during Revolutionary times. She fielded questions easily, and could go above & beyond just her "set" talk. There wasn't as much walking as I had expected (which was good) because Karen would walk us a block or so, then we'd stand and listen. She really made it all come alive for us! A very good value for the money, too.
