Staycation fun!
Mon, Sep 14  1:00 PM gusvango Male 30-39 Local Couple on a Date
My wife and were on our NYC "stay-cation"... and we decided to do something totally new. We decided to try this Patriot Tours walk around lower Manhattan. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT! It was both fun and informative. We got to see lower Manhattan like we never had before, and we gained a very special appreciation of our city. SUPER-highly recommended!

My wife and I took this tour on the first day of our stay in NY. We loved it. It gave us a good sense of where the spirit of New York (and New Yorkers) came from, something we thought about for the rest of our trip. Even if you don't like history, go on this tour. It is not dry. The guide is EXCELLENT--enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and sensitive. Again, strongly recommended. You will learn why and how New York became New York!

Karen's tour was absolutely fascinating. Not once was she dry and stodgy, with a recitation of dates and facts. Rather she focused on the personal stories and anecdotes. The tour was long -- more than two and a half hours -- and we weren't bored for one minute. Just be absolutely sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Even Better The Second Time Around!

This is my second time taking this tour, and I enjoyed it as much as the first. The guide is quite learned and so informative without losing your interest. If you like American history and the part NYC played in it, then you will really enjoy this tour.

This tour really opened to my eyes to some surprising historical insights as to what happened right in my neighborhood back in the Revolutionary War times. Locals should really take the time to learn of out area's historical signifigance.

Rev Era Walking Tour: bypass to your own detriment

Most people do not appreciate how historical a city New York is. Most people that is who haven't gone on the Revolutionary Era Walking Tour. From Bowling Green Park to Fraunces Tavern to Saint Paul's Chapel, New York is utterly replete with remnants of a remarkable past. Add to this the fascinating and inspiring stories told so expertly by the incomparable Karen, our guide, of the people who populated these arenas during those precarious years prior to our Nation's birth, and you have the makings of a 2 and a half hour journey that can compete with the best that even modern N.Y. has to offer. Please discover this for yourself. You'll no longer be able to see the city or even the country in the same way again.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Revolutionary War tour of lower Manhattan. Karen, the guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She fielded all questions and embellished the answers with more information. I would recommend this tour to all age levels since American History is a forgotten course in school and we can all learn from Washington's unassuming leadership style.

An enlightening tour for locals and visitors.

Karen displays a passion for the history of New York in the Revolutionary War period. She has researched this subject tirelessly since age 13 down to the detail of reading newspapers of that era. Consequently, she can relate stories of individuals and events in vivid detail and breathe exhilaration into the telling. Anyone interested in this period of time should attend. Anyone who lives in New York should attend regardless of a previous interest in the American Revolution.

Our tour guide was well informed. She gave us a feel for the time period and what was going in New York and how New York fit in with what was going on in other colonies. She gave us information starting with the Dutch and the turn over to British. She also told of us stories of individuals, the roles they played and how they impacted the rest of the colonies. She also gave us suggestions on where we could go for more information and also suggested some of the places where we could go back and spend more time. We enjoyed this tour so much we look forward to go on the Civil War Tour.

I had a very informative and fun afternoon with Karen on her US Revolution Tour of New York last week (apologies for the delay....only just got back!) Karen was friendly and knew her history etc She also made it fun too with many interesting and quirky stories about the lives of characters involved at that time! I learned alot from her and was lucky too in that I was the only visitor on the tour that day so it was even more special and personalised! I would highly recommend this tour and if I had been in New York longer would have taken her Civil War Tour too! Until the next time! Gary Fordham
