Fabulous Afternoon!
Sat, May 19, 07   1:00 PM AudreyL Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
What a wonderful tour! I was somewhat indifferent to a "Revolutionary War Tour" and couldn't imagine how anything currently in Manhattan could relate to that time. Boy, was I wrong! It seems like ALL of lower Manhattan is Colonial! Who knew?! Don't miss this one!

Disappointed

Unable to take tour due to last minute illness of tour guide. There is no contingency plan if the tour guide is ill. We were offered alternative tour times, but we were only in NYC for the day and had planned whole day around tour.

Opinion of seven delighted women

Seven good friends were in absolute agreement that the tour was the best. Karen gave us such a good understanding of what went on in New York before and during the Revloutionary War. We all came away in awe of the courage of the people of New York and the founding fathers.

Amazing Tour! Wonderful Guide Karen

This tour was the best part of our trip to NYC. Karen Quinones was so informative and knowledgeable about the years surrounding the revolutionary war. She had terrific stories about the people that lived during that time and not just facts. My mother and I took the walking tour in the end of March, 2007 and we both loved the tour with Karen. If you love American History you will love this tour. We could have walked and talked with you for hours!! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, Karen and Iris from Delaware

Wealth of Information and Knowledgable Leader
Fri, Mar 23, 07   1:15 PM katsas Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Our tour leader knew so much about the New York area and it's various political, historical, cultural and social differences. The Civil War tour was great for history buffs, but also a great resource for teachers. If you can take this tour and present it to your class or better yet take them on the tour, it is really worthwhile. You will see many little streets that you would never walk through when visiting New York City. I have been to the city several times and had never seen some of the places we visited. Our tour leader is obviously well-read and has many interesting visuals to add substance to the times she is telling you about. I enjoyed this very much!

A Knowledgeable and Engaging Tour Guide

Karen Quinones of Patriot Tours is a walking encyclopedia... with personality. Her knowledge of the people and events that shaped New York City during the Revolutionary War era is impressive, and her passion for the subject is infectious. She clearly has a love for this period in history and has researched it well. We took our time, winding through the streets of lower Manhattan, while her attention to detail made every story come alive. I happened to take a tour with her on a particularly cold and windy day, but this did not prevent me from enjoying the experience. Never once was I bored or distracted, even though I live in Manhattan. Accompanied by copies of old maps, broadsides, and historic engravings, Karen's enthusiasm and vivid descriptions enabled me to "see" the original shoreline of Manhattan, the fervent efforts of the Sons of Liberty, the quaint homes that lined the narrow streets, and Washington's retreat from the British... and much more. I intend to take a tour with her again (in warmer weather) -- she is just that good!

Great Tour!

We were looking for a walking tour that covered a rarely detailed part of Manhattan, the Civil War period. We were particularly interested in the rise and fall of the Five Points area. Our guide, Karen, was on time and armed with articles and pictures describing the time period. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. All important points were covered and highlighted with facts, figures and delicious gossip. From world renowned monuments to obscure spots, Karen covered them all with the passion of a person who loves the history of this amazing metropolis. This was truly a great way to spend a couple of hours learning and being amazed. I can't wait to go back for the Revolutionary War tour. Without a doubt one of the best entertainment investments you can make in the entertainment capital of the world.

Great Tour!

My 8 year old son is a history fanatic, particularly military history of the US. We've been on historical tours in DC as well as Boston but never in NY. I'm from NY and love this old section of town though I'd never realized the extent of history that was here. My son loved it too and was fully engaged for the entire tour. Karen did a great job of bringing the history to life and making it an enriching and memorable experience. We plan to to the Civil War walking tour on our next trip to NY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY US!!!!

We had a large group of diverse ages and backgrounds. The tour guide was excellent; she engaged all members of the group, making the tour entertaining, interesting and informative. She was gracious and helpful. It was the best walking tour that I have been on and I have recommended it to friends.

Experience the "mind-set" of our patriots

A walking tour....definitely a different concept of touring this illustrious island called Manhattan, but vital in order to experience the passion, commitment, and dedication of those who courageously came before us. While listening to the comprehensive, as well as descriptive explanation of a multitude of historic events, you are literally transported into this significant period of time. As an American, more now than ever, it is paramount for each of us to understand the values, mission and determination of our previous settlers. Their creativity, selflessness and passion is reflected and communicated by the talent of this passionate American guide. This is a must for those of you who care about this nation and understand that it is those who came before us that have generously bestowed upon us what we have inherited today. This powerful tour gives this generous gift to each of you.

Great wonderful sightseeing afternoon in New York
Wed, Dec 27, 06   1:15 PM pmcfadden Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My husband and I thoroughly recommend this tour and have told all our friends about it. This afternoon provided a wonderful visual for all of the books we've read about the revolutionary war (Jeff Shara) and movies (Gangs of New York). Our guide was well-informed, prepared, and enthusiastic. She was so helpful by providing laminated articles and pictures of the original "New Amsterdam" sights as compared with the current sights. The old Wall Street was amazing. St Paul's Chapel and Trinity Church - breathtaking historical landmarks. Although it was cold and windy, we didn't mind because we were "in the moment" and were prepared with hats, gloves, and warm shoes. Most importantly though, the guide kept us moving and through her stories of the activities by the Sons of Liberty and the militias. These gutsy New Yorkers and their independent spirit and heroics that helped this country win the war against England helped us tourists understand how the same gutsy New York spirit overcame 9/11. Our guide even allowed a quick stop at a Starbucks for some warm beverage and a rest room stop. A great afternoon and we will definitely take another tour.
