This tour made the revolutionary era come alive!
Mon, May 29, 06   10:00 AM joeandliz Male 50-59 Local Family With Children
My family and I have taken many historical tours in different parts of the USA and this by far was one of the best. The reason was that the tour guide, Karen, was not only very knowledgeable but also passionate about history. The tour was listed as taking 2 1/2 hours and actually lasted 3 hours. The 3 hours flew by and we would have enjoyed listening to Karen for another 3 hours. Our 14 year old son said he also enjoyed the tour and learned great a deal. I recommend this tour to anyone interested in American History.

I had a very informative and fun afternoon with Karen on her US Revolution Tour of New York last week (apologies for the delay....only just got back!) Karen was friendly and knew her history etc She also made it fun too with many interesting and quirky stories about the lives of characters involved at that time! I learned alot from her and was lucky too in that I was the only visitor on the tour that day so it was even more special and personalised! I would highly recommend this tour and if I had been in New York longer would have taken her Civil War Tour too! Until the next time! Gary Fordham

I very much enjoyed the tour. I appreciated the enthusiasm and knowledge our tour guide possessed and her willingness to share. It was clear she was very enthused about the history of Manhattan in this era. Frankly, the tour set the stage for tour of Manhattan during the week...we were able to relate the different sites we saw to much of the information she shared with us on the tour. It was the highlight of the trip in a city of highlights. I'll take the Civil War tour on the next trip back. Thanks. Bob

Fascinating - makes lower Manhattan come alive

Although we grew up in the New York City area and have been to Manhattan many, many times, this tour really provided a new prespective. Karen's enthusiastic story telling and obvious love of history allowed us to see and feel lower Manhattan as it was in the mid 1800's. The architecture of the period remains in pieces for the trained eye to see...and Karen is good at pointing out what remains and filling in the gaps of what has not survived. Karen's descriptions and stories of the notable people of the time transport you back to that time. This was a most enjoyable 2 1/2 hours.

Our guide, Karen, was very knowledgable about the Revolution in NYC. She was also concerned that we all enjoy ourselves. I observed that she found a way to talk with each of us indivdually as we made our way through the tour. The members of our group appreciated her interest in each of us and her concern that we have a good tour. This tour is a great way to spend part of an afternoon seeing lower Manhattan and learning about the early stages of our struggles to become a nation apart from England.

Great if a little long for kids

Karen was a great tour guide, and knew much more than she could cover in a 3 hour tour. The only drawback was that the tour took nearly 3 hours, which was a little long for my kids.

Great tour from a Revolutionary War viewpoint!

We had a great time on this tour. We learned things about New York /Manhattan that we'd never heard before and it gave us a really interesting perspective on this great city and its rich history. We only had a day to spend in New York so it was probably too much to try to do this tour and other things on the same day. Our kids (ages 11 and 12) were exhausted after two-and-a-half hours of pretty solid walking so we needed recovery time which we hadn't planned on. It would have been nice to leave some of the tidbits out so there would be more time to explore some of the neat sites like Trinity Church and St. Paul's Chapel, as well as Fraunces Tavern. The pictures that the guide brought along were very informative, and her stories and quotes from famous New Yorkers from that time were valuable in illustrating that age. Great tour!!

Extremely knowledgeable guide of New York

Karen was fabulous, it was like going on a tour with a history professor. She knew everything, not just about New York, but about the revolutionary war and how it related to early Manhattan. My husband and I are amateur revolutionary war buffs, but we learned so much on this tour. We highly highly recommend it to anyone who has any interest at all in history. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, answered all our questions with enthusiasm, was pleasant and friendly. It really was one of the highlights of our New York visit!

The tour guide, Karen, was enthusiastic and informative with well-researched information. The 2 1/2 hour tour actually ended up being a little over 3 hours which was most appreciated. We look forward to taking her Civil War tour of New York City.

We all loved our walking tour in NYC. Our only regret is that we had to leave early to catch a plane. So much insight and depth! I am a history buff and still learned a lot. Thanks

We took this tour on July 22, and have to give it rave reviews. I booked the tour for myself and my fiance, and another couple, as a present for my fiance's birthday. Both my fiance and my girlfriend are avid Revolutionary War Aficionados; me less so, but enthusiastic. It was informative, fun and our guide (the owner of the company) made it seem at times that we were really IN the New York of the 1700's. We all learned a lot (even the two "sort-of-experts") because there was so much more information that we'd never even heard of. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. We're thinking of taking the Civil War Tour in the fall. And lastly, I will never look at another Duane Reade drugstore without knowing what the names really mean! Thanks so much for a great day!
