Incredibly Informative and Interesting!!!!!
Mon, Nov 16  10:00 AM JohnKuntz Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Karen does a fantastic job of creating the imagery and energy of the time period by not only knowing interesting facts and experiences but by being able to present them in a way that explains the social culture, economics, religious viewpoints, and politics that all drove the Revolution. Having a guide that is so passioinate about the time period and New York sets this tour experience at a completely different level in comparison to other walking tours I have taken in the past. She develops a true educational experience. I took the Civil War tour and highly recommend it also.

Enjoyed the tour.

We were a small group of just four people. My Mom and I and a couple from Michigan. We were all history buffs and appreciated Karen's willingness to be flexible and work in some of the non-Civil War related history of lower Manhattan as it occured to her, and to us. I would recommend this tour to others.

A wealth of knowledge in a delightful presentation

This walking tour of Revolutionary NYC was a delight! Our guide was well informed of both well-known and obscure people in the period from 1765 to 1797 on Manhattan island. Her enthusiastic presentation displayed her love of the subject matter. Whenever applicable, she was able to cite the primary documents. We learned of the early workings of the Sons of Liberty in the context of New York's constant factional in-fighting, shedding light on why the New York assembly was so hesitant to come out for independence. Another highlight was learning of the battle of Brooklyn and the occupation of New York by the British, including Washington's spy ring. In all, it was terrific to hear the personalities of an epic time in US history come to life, warts and all in the places that they walked. I enthusiastically recommend this tour.

My wife and were on our NYC "stay-cation"... and we decided to do something totally new. We decided to try this Patriot Tours walk around lower Manhattan. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT! It was both fun and informative. We got to see lower Manhattan like we never had before, and we gained a very special appreciation of our city. SUPER-highly recommended!

The tour guide, Karen, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Although most of the sites of historical value no longer exist, the tour does an excellent job of identifying the location of the site, and describing the site and the surrounding area.

The perfect guide

We were two couples from Minnesota and had a great time. It's wonderful to walk the city with a guide who is bursting with knowledge--not just someone who knows the script. So we couldn't be more positive. Whether you love history or not, there was a lot there for you. My one suggestion: my legs aren't as good as the guides. Three hours without sitting is too much for me. With a little planning, she could find places for people on the tour to sit occasionally while she talks. Not to sit and waste time, just to sit as she talks. I found them for myself. But there where steps to sit on, benches to sit on, etc. She's so enthusiastic about what she describing, I don't think this crosses her mind. If she just went to each of the locations and looked around for a moment, there are places where people could sit as she talks. It was great. We'll recommend it to friends.

Passionate About History
Fri, Jul 3  1:00 PM Tsquared Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
It's such a joy to witness someone as passionate about history as Karen. Also, she is quite knowledgeable of all the various factors which lead to the War Between the States. This is most refreshing to hear as the current simplistic version equates South with bad and North with good. Her tour is quite a bit more invigorating than the usual two hours spent combing a museum.

A different historical context.
Tue, Jun 23  1:00 PM scottatshack Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
The stories and information brought a little more to the table than what we are taught in school. It is interesting to listen to how things have not changed politically or how little we have learned from our own history. It would be great if we had someone like Washington who only cared about the success of the country and not about his own ability to get elected. Someone who would be honest and not spend all his time telling us what he thinks we want to hear.
