Incredible amount of knowledge shared in a very relaxed manner. Want to research so much of what I'd heard to learn more. Such interesting and fun facts I'd never have known!

Made history come alive!

While a bit of an info overload for my 10 year old, my 13 year old recognized much of her recent Social Studies curriculum and really got into it. It was great to get a deeper understanding of our hometown's history and make conections to the significance of things we see every day. Karen was superb! She was friendly, professional and informative.

Not what I expected

The walking tour was more of a narrow history lecture, and less walking and pointing out actual historical information.

The guide was very good. She shared a lot of historical facts that were interesting. She had a good attitude and a friendly nature. I would highly recommend her tours to all of my family and friends. Thank you for the wonderful tour.

A different historical context.
Tue, Jun 23  1:00 PM scottatshack Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
The stories and information brought a little more to the table than what we are taught in school. It is interesting to listen to how things have not changed politically or how little we have learned from our own history. It would be great if we had someone like Washington who only cared about the success of the country and not about his own ability to get elected. Someone who would be honest and not spend all his time telling us what he thinks we want to hear.

My time with Karen was well spent as we walked through downtown Manhattan, rich with history. All the stories, anecdotes and descriptions were finely detailed. I was especially pleased with the period cartoons that helped reinforce the emotion and conflicting opinions. This was a rare treat for those who appreciate the Civil War and the great ironies involved. There is so much to learn that we never hear of in traditional forums and public education. Truly an eye-opening experience and one not soon forgotten. I highly recommend it and consider is comparable to a crash course in New York history.

Our tour guide was excellent! She knew so much and shared it with us. The walk was fabulous, and it helped that the weather was great! Will definately take more like this!

Not good

I called and asked if I could postpone our tour. We had to return to Westchester to a sick child. No one returned my phone call. I am disappointed. Valerie Malsch

This was a fantastic tour. I learned a lot. Our guide was full of interesting stories and was obviously very well-read re: New York history. A great way to spend an afternoon for visitors and residents alike!

Fun and I learned something!

This is a great tour for locals and tourists. Karen is extremely knowledgeable about the era and history of NYC in general! This tour is best suited for UK and US tourists or NYC locals since the tour traces US revolutionary history through lower Manhattan. I really enjoyed the tour--and although I'm American my English husband and friend enjoyed it immensely as well.

Informative
Sat, Feb 21  1:00 PM kerrybanik Female 20-29 Local Family With Children
I thought the tour was really informative. I learned a lot about people important to the Revolution that I didn't know about before. I thought the guide was really knowledgeable and able to talk off prompt about questions regarding other events happening at the time. I thought the pictures were helpful in imagining the surroundings of 250 years ago. The only thing I thought was not good was the fact that we couldn't see more of the cemetery at St. Paul's. We really only saw one grave. Also the graveyard at Trinity Church is closed on Saturdays, so we couldn't walk around there either. Also, there wasn't much time or places to sit down when we were walking. My legs got tired just from standing for 2 hours.
