Very Interesting Walking Tour`

I had taken the Revolutionary walking tour last year and was glad I was in NYC to sign up for the civil war one. It was very interesting. The tour guide knows her history and you can tell she loves history. Took us to areas I never would have found on my own. Learned information I never knew before - how much NYC was connected with the civil war. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in history and interested in a different type of walking tour.

The guide provided lots of historical facts about events during our Revolutionary era in New York. It has caused me to make many notes after the tour, and I'm following up by reading, in more detail, about the events and individuals from that time period. I'm looking forward to taking other tours during my subsequent visits to New York...

My husband and I enjoy anything that has to do with history. We took a revoluntionary tour in NYC. The tour was 2 1/2 hours long. Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew a great deal. The only bad thing was that the tour was too long...Too many stories so it was confusing at times and to much standing still in "spots were things were". I guess we were expecting more walking and showing of older bulidings or areas where things took place and not enough tidbits and little things that only a guide would know. You know fun facts. I would still use this comapny for future tours, no doubt. I just feel this one was not the best if had been on.

I really enjoyed the recent tour I took of Revolutionary New York. The tour guide, Karen, was a bevy of knowledge and enthusiasm. Very well informed and proud to be an American and a New-Yorker. I would recommend this tour to everyone. Laura E. Toronto, Canada

The tour was fantastic! I knew very little about New York City's role in the civil war apart from a few highlights. My guide was extremely knowledgeable and the I learned a lot about how the city influenced the war. I know quite a bit about the overall war, but had no idea of all the ties to the war effort. The buildings and streets you walk down are amazing and the visuals along the way also help to bring the story alive. Even if you do not like history much, the tour is a wonderful way to see some of the side streets and lesser known places in lower Manhattan. I can't wait to take my husband with me sometime to see the same tour!

I highly recommend this tour. The tourguide was enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable. I really got a feel for the time through her stories that she told as we walked between the landmarks and historical sites. I also really liked the pictures that she carried - they helped me to visualize the era.

This is a terrific tour mainly because of the energy and enthusiasm of the tour guide. She is engaged, did a lot or work to get some of the visual aids, and is ready to answer questions. Admittedly many of the original structures are long gone, but the visual aids help. Also sites such as the Cooper Union are too far uptown to be part of the tour.

Last year I took Patriot Tours' Revolutionary War Tour and loved it. Last week I took the Civil War Era Tour and it was great too. Karen really knows her stuff. The tour was full of entertaining anecdotes and she painted a picture of 19th century New York that made Lower Manhattan come alive for me. As far as I am concerned, this is a must-do for both travellers and New Yorkers alike. I can't wait for Karen to come up with her next tour.

It was my first trip to NYC and it seemed so vast and intimidating at first but Karen helped give it a focus and made it more easy for me to relate to it not only in terms of where things were located geographically but its rich history, and some determining factors of the characteristic of the people of NYC- their buoyancy, perserverance, and strength. I learned some historical trivia and many facts, saw pictures of NYC during the Rev. era and got to know a few others who seemed to love American history as much as I do. I'd recommend it to everyone!
