| Excellent walk. Guild knew her stuff and answered everyones questions. Would highly recommend this walk to anyone interested in history and seeing more of NYC than expected. After the walk, Battery Park was very interesting place to spend a couple of hours relaxing or with the vendors. | ||||||

| I may have known at one time but certainly forgot the important role of NYC in our history and the Revolutionary War. This tour jogs your memory with forgotten names, dates and events with the added benefit of being on the spot or near where it happened. Events come alive amid the hustle/bustle of NY. Karen is an excellent guide; able to answer all the questions and keep to the subject. One thing I realized from this and two other walking tours I took is the enormous pride New Yorkers have in their city and its history. | ||||||

| My husband and I thoroughly recommend this tour and have told all our friends about it. This afternoon provided a wonderful visual for all of the books we've read about the revolutionary war (Jeff Shara) and movies (Gangs of New York). Our guide was well-informed, prepared, and enthusiastic. She was so helpful by providing laminated articles and pictures of the original "New Amsterdam" sights as compared with the current sights. The old Wall Street was amazing. St Paul's Chapel and Trinity Church - breathtaking historical landmarks. Although it was cold and windy, we didn't mind because we were "in the moment" and were prepared with hats, gloves, and warm shoes. Most importantly though, the guide kept us moving and through her stories of the activities by the Sons of Liberty and the militias. These gutsy New Yorkers and their independent spirit and heroics that helped this country win the war against England helped us tourists understand how the same gutsy New York spirit overcame 9/11. Our guide even allowed a quick stop at a Starbucks for some warm beverage and a rest room stop. A great afternoon and we will definitely take another tour. | ||||||

| My family and I had an afternoon tour of lower Manhattan that was a semester's worth of learning packed into 3 hours. Amazing, do not miss. How could you waste your time on a crowded noisy tour bus listening to a routine monologue when you could do this? Just be prepared to walk, you'll be happy you did! | ||||||

| Although we grew up in the New York City area and have been to Manhattan many, many times, this tour really provided a new prespective. Karen's enthusiastic story telling and obvious love of history allowed us to see and feel lower Manhattan as it was in the mid 1800's. The architecture of the period remains in pieces for the trained eye to see...and Karen is good at pointing out what remains and filling in the gaps of what has not survived. Karen's descriptions and stories of the notable people of the time transport you back to that time. This was a most enjoyable 2 1/2 hours. | ||||||

| We cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It was excellent. Karen brims with enthusiasm and knowlege and is able to put it all over in a very clear and engaging manner. A lot of information is imparted about locations and context but it is never dry or dull - just completely fascinating. This is all supplemented by very good use of maps and illustrations. If you just want a wander around whilst having a few sights pointed out this is probably not the tour for you but if you really want to understand and feel the history of the sights and their context in the city and in this key event in American history then sign up now! We were only sorry that our schedule did not permit us to go on Karen's Civil War tour as well - next time definitely. | ||||||

| The guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the subject, with the use of some copies of original maps and documents showing the amount of work and effort put into the tour. An interesting subject brought to life with a guide who was open to all questions about the general area as well as the topic itself. | ||||||

| Karen was very friendly and approachable and had a wealth of knowledge to share about Manhattan during Revolutionary times. She fielded questions easily, and could go above & beyond just her "set" talk. There wasn't as much walking as I had expected (which was good) because Karen would walk us a block or so, then we'd stand and listen. She really made it all come alive for us! A very good value for the money, too. | ||||||

| Karen was great! She was so knowledgeable. She did a wonderful job of communicating a vast amount of information in such a fun and memorable way.We learned more on this tour than any we have ever taken. This tour was definitely more that we expected. We saw more sights, more architecture, and heard more about the history of New York than we had anticipated. We absolutely loved it and we have already recommended it to many people. Thanks so much! | ||||||
