Excellent Tour Guide - Interesting History
Sat, Mar 28  1:00 PM wjmarsden Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our tour guide was excellent - very knowlegeable and engaging. I was a history major in college but must confess I did not know much about New York City's role during the American Revolution. The guide did an excellent job of describing the relevant events and players. If you liked David McCullough's "1776," you will like this tour.

Fantastic well-informed tour-guide!

Our tour guide Karen was well-spoken, informed and enthusiastic. It was a bitterly cold day but she didn't flag once, take shortcuts, complain or make excuses, yet she always had our comfort and questions and interests foremost in her mind. The tour truly was substantive and was well-worth the cost. Karen alone was worth her weight in gold! We were so impressed on all counts, having taken similar tours in the past that proved to be superficial, and more conventionally touristy. This was a substantive and entertaining walking tour, we learned a great deal and saw a side of New York that will truly be well and fondly remembered. Thank you so much!

If you like American History, this is an excellent tour. My guide made me feel like I was back in the 1700's, an amazing accomplishment on a weekday, in lower Manhattan.

Historically Enlightening as well as Captivating
Fri, Jan 30  10:00 AM Tommy_Heath Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
First, you must enjoy a little history to enjoy this event. I am not a historian nor am I a great student of history, but I did find this to be one of the most interesting strolls through the history of New York that I have every had. It was fascinating and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about that which she spoke. I found the entire tour exciting. Never once was I "bored" There were many colorful and descriptive stories about the founders, residents and other historical persons of New York. The tour gave us a good understanding about why and how New York became the city it is today. I would highly recommend the walking tour on just about any day of the Spring and Fall. We took the tour in January and it was a little cold. Even so, we were not too disturb by the weather. I could see the summertime being a little challenging for some, also. However, it is a great historical walking tour with many interesting stories that will delight and enlighten everyone.

Great Revolutionary War Tour
Tue, Nov 25, 08   1:00 PM csweiss Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The tour guide (tour owner) was incredibly knowlegible and enthusiastic about the subject matter. Most of the info was things I never heard of before -- and felt like I should have known. Physically, not that much remains of the era - but there is just enough to be able to visualize. We would highly recommend this tour -- it was just our family. It might be a little too much information for younger children, but teens and up would be okay. Again -- we were very impressed with the tour guide/owner and her interest in the subject shines through.

A super afternoon!
Fri, Nov 14, 08   1:30 PM Denise6 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
On a quick family visit to NYC we had a free afternoon that could have been spent inside a museum but we tried a Patriot walking tour instead. Even with a bit of a drizzle we were so glad to be outside and learning about the history of the city in and around Battery Park and Wall St. Karen regaled us with stories of New Yorkers during the Civil War in great and entertaining detail. We now can go back and explore even more on our own. We're looking forward to booking another of Karen's original and insightful tours!

Karen knows her subject exceptionally well and provided many interesting details and facts about the personalities-lives of Revolutionary War figures. It felt like we were privy to the "inside scoop" of the news of the day.

Fascinating insight to the Revolutionary War Era

Even though it was pouring down rain, we had a fascinating snapshot of the events that took place on the island of Manhattan before, during and after the Revolutionary War. The tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting, she was very engaging and her stories and descriptions of events allowed us to picture the events and geography in our minds. I would recommend this tour to anyone with even a little interest in the Revolutionary War Era and the events that occured in NYC.

Absolutely Fantastic!

This tour was one of the best that I have ever taken! The tour guide was so engaging in her description and very, very knowledgeable about the subject and she was easy to follow and understand. She was so enthused about her subject and it showed with every step that we took. I would heartily recommend this tour to anyone because it is simply that good! Our tour guide provided a first class service for the cost of the ticket and it was well worth what we received! I will book another tour from her the next time that we are in New York.

Our guide could not have been more informed on this topic. She was incredible! She carried copies of etchings that were very helpful in picturing what lower manhattan looking like over 200 years ago. She was very detailed in her information and really was able to give you a sense of the history and what it was like to live at that time. While it was a long walk, we went slowly from site to site. Maybe too detailed for some people, but we enjoyed every minute. We would love to do more of these tours in the future.

Interesting, little known history
Mon, Sep 1, 08   10:00 AM DeniseY Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The tour and information were great, and the guide was very knowledgeable, but it was 'all business' without thought to human needs--the walking tour lasted 3, not 2 hours, with no mention of where there were opportunities for restroom breaks. It would be very easy to add to the intro, there will be X opportunities for restroom breaks, once at the first church, second...and then tell folks where the facilities, bus, etc. are in relation to the spot where we ended. It would also be nice to have a map for each participant with the walking route & key sites noted.
