This is the perfect tour to take in NYC! Mark was awesome! Besides getting some GREAT photos all over NYC, Mark also taught us how to ride the subway, which is a definite must while visiting Manhattan. We are so happy with all our pictures, it will be hard to chose which ones to frame! I highly recommend comfy shoes, sunglasses and a bottle of water! Thanks for the memories, Mark! |

We have told everyone we've talked to about our tour with Mark. Being able to see the city and to have someone taking pictures at the same time was great. We will do this again next time we come back! |

In only two hours, Marc introduced us to some of the city's finest places. He knows exactly what he is doing and what shots are great/ original for great memories. His enthousiastic story-telling about NYC is catching!!! Afterwards we were full of energy to visit to city...
We would recommend this Photo Tour to everyone visting the Big Apple. Marc even 'teaches' you how to use the subway without wasting time and going wrong.
GREAT! |

We were only in New York for four days and we wanted to do it all AND have the pictures to remember it all. This tour is great, especially if you are traveling as a couple. It can be hard to constantly ask people to take pictures. And there's no guarantee they will turn out well. Traveling 12 hrs to New York, we wanted to make sure we took away some memorable shots. We were very pleased with the pictures. We definitely would not have some of the images we do without this tour!!

I am a travel agent who has absolutely NO pics of the trips that I have gone on. I stumbled across this tour and thought we would give it a go. I just got home and stuck the CD in my computer and I couldn't be happier.
Recommendations:
1) Leave your bag/backpack at your accommodations. The tour is fast paced and there is no time to be stopping and putting things down. (This being said, there is a lot of quick paced walking and isn't suitable for people who have mobility issues).
2) Take a few props... ie: a hat, sunglasses, scarves etc... just so that you can switch things up a bit in the photos-- props that are easily adorned..
Other than that... I found that this tour is extremely unique and in my opinion, it shouldn't be missed. |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our phototrek tour with Marc! As it was our honeymoon we wanted to get some pics of us together and what a perfect way to do so! We also got lots of tips and ideas from Marc who knew the city very well. Not only did we get some great pics but we also got a great tour of the city, going places we would not have known about and getting a real feel for New York! Thanks Marc! |

I had stumbled onto this tour on the nycgo.com site and at first I was a little hesitant at spending the money, but after I saw the example pictures on the website I knew I wanted to go on this photo trip. As the date got closer I noticed there were a lot more mixed reviews and again I became nervous that maybe it wasn't worth the money. I booked the tour anyway. I've been on many vacations in the past and I am a bit shy and find it very difficult to ask people to take a photo of our group... the worst feeling is asking someone to take your picture and then looking at it afterwords and realizing it's a horrible shot and you don't want to ask them to re-take it because it's rude. My boyfriend and I have been on a couple of vacations and we hardly have any pictures of ourselves together so we splurged for this so that we would finally have some. There is SO much to see in New York and you are going to want pictures of EVERYTHING. It was a simple process to buy the tickets (we did the 2 hour Best of New York), you receive clear directions where to meet and your photo tour starts right away. He asked us about different itinerary options so that he could get a feel of what kinds of pictures we wanted. He was very friendly and knew his way around the city very well. You do walk at a faster pace but it's all for your benefit, more pictures! We went to NYC last week just after Independance Day during a heat wave, temperatures hovering around 100 degrees and it was VERY VERT hot and humid. When I found it a little difficult to keep up with the pace he assured me that we could stop and slow down and work at my pace so that I was comfortable. I was sweating a lot so I constantly had to wipe my face so that my face wasn't shiny in the photos. He even bought me a bottle of water! I had my hair down (I have long hair) and when the wind would blow it in my face he would make a point to tell me to move my hair away. He offered lots of tips on directions and things to do. I went mainly for the photo aspect, I think some people are expecting a tour guide that will tell you all the history about certain things. Yes he does know quite a bit but chances are you will be going on a city tour of some sort (like the double decker buses), expect that from them and not this guy. He said he would deliver the cd with the photos by Friday and they were there by Thursday. Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes. I LOVE MY PICTURES, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I would definitely do this again if I was traveling with someone else! : ) |

Had a great time with Marc! We did the two hour 8am tour on our first full day in the city. We have fabulous pictures in Times Square and Central Park! It'll be hard to choose which ones to print/frame there are so many great ones. We also have some wonderful photos of us on the Brooklyn Bridge and a few in Soho.
The Soho pictures are probably the least satisfying. The biggest reason is our own fault, but also the area is nice to walk and look around in- not as nice as a background for photos. In retrospect, would have loved more pictures in Central Park (or even in the Chelsea Pier/Washington Park area) instead.
Marc gave us some great recommendations on places to eat at and see while in New York. There were places we never would have gone, and then loved, without Marc's suggestion. He also gave us an education on the subway system and advise on our specific itinerary & on how to get tickets for shows. Because of this we're glad we did the tour near the beginning of our trip.
We had our CD with the [130+] photos three days after our trek which was within the time frame we'd been promised. We've already recommended this to several of our friends, and if we come back to NYC we plan on doing this again!
TIPS: Make sure you (and everyone in your group) keep your perma-smile on! If you start getting hungry or distracted- do it after the pictures have been taken. The best photos are the one where you're looking at the camera.
Also if you feel squinty because of the sun- especially on the Brooklyn Bridge- just put on your sunglasses! It is much better to have a bunch of photos with sunglasses that turn out with you smiling, rather than a pile of pictures with you making stupid faces trying to smile and look at the camera with the sun shining in your face. |

Our first experience of New York and Photo Trek was back in 2008. When organising our second trip in June 2010 the first words (well, excited shrieks!) that simultaneously left our lips were 'We HAVE to rebook Marc!!'
I want to start by saying thank you to Marc as I have a feeling that the enthusiasm will take over as a go on and I will miss the opportunity to express our sincere gratitude on behalf of all of us from the 1st, 2nd and both visits!
Let me start at the beginning:
On the first visit there were 3 of us. My Mother, my Auntie and myself.
On the second, again there were three for my hen weekend, My Mother, my maid of honour and myself (my Auntie had to cancel at last minute due to health reasons).
On both occasions we did the two hour tour.
You begin by booking through the Zerve service which is extremely easy to use and meet Marc on the steps of the New Victory theatre which is also very easy to find.
From there you go on an ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKINGLY FANTASTIC TOUR!!! covering a variety of sights and if there is something you particularly would like to cover Marc is very accommodating.
The photos are of fantastic quality both back in 2008 and in 2010 so for those of you who have never been on a photo tour please feel reassured that we have been twice now with a good period of time between the two treks and have had the best photos of both trips taken by Marc and hand delivered to our hotel.
Furthermore I feel sure I speak on behalf of all of our group when I say that Marc's photos were so good we made Snapfish albums using his pictures and it is the only album we tend to show when talking about how great NYC is to visit!
As for knowledgeable, this man has an encyclopedic knowledge of NYC! In order to be a tour guide in New York you have to pass the Professional Licensing Examination by the DCA so again you are safe in the knowledge that you are dealing with friendly professional, who will also help you find other places of interest if you so require whether it be somewhere casual to go for food or evening drinks, or somewhere upmarket for cocktails and glitz!
In short Marc is an extremely down to earth, helpful guide, with a great sense of humour & copious amounts of knowledge in his field. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone that breathes, let alone mention they're contemplating visiting New York!
We have even passed Marc's details to my Father who is a school Director taking Music students to Manhattan in 2011, as this trip is suitable for all ages and group sizes and can be paced accordingly.
Brilliant! |

We did this tour assuming that we'd get :
1- a good, brief tour of NYC
and
2- professional photos
We got neither. Mediocre at best.
Just because you buy a Canon EOS and you call yourself a professional photographer doesn't mean that you are. And just because you're from Brooklyn, doesn't make you an NYC tour guide. Admittedly, we didn't do our research, either. But our tour guide knew little else than what he showed us. And took VERY iffy photos - many of them were blurry, not symetrical/straight, with flash when flash was inappropriate, etc. In effect, our photos are no better than if we'd asked strangers to use my Nikon D90 to take our photos in the same places. The cost does NOT reflect the quality of either the tour of the product you recieve. My husband and I are both working professionals and excepted a working professional to work with us and direct us to obtain and then recieve a quality product. This photographer has a niche market, and if he were to ever recieve any competetion, he would quickly lose his market as his product quality does not reflect cost.
Very disappointed from Canada |

My husband and I went to New York for our honeymoon. This tour was the best money spent on our whole vacation. Our tour guide Marc picked us up at our hotel lobby, and in only two hours helped us learn to navigate through the city and subway. He made what seemed to be an overwhelming city, become a fun and fascinating place to travel. We would not have enjoyed our trip as much if it weren't for him. Not only did we learn about the city and the different sites to enjoy but we came home with so many personal photos of us together that we would not have if we did not take this tour. |
