Review of the Freedom Trail Photowalk Tour
Sat, Apr 26, 08   1:00 PM joegreer Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
This was my second Photowalk tour and it was a great experience (just as the first tour). This tour was absolutely a great investment in the time - and the cost was extremely reasonable.

Learning has never been so fun!

My new husband and I took Saba's photography tour of the Freedom Trail as part of our honeymoon in Boston. I think this was our favorite activity of the week! History Lessons -- I had lived in Boston for many years, but Saba taught me so much I did not know, things I had never heard on other tours or read in books. She helped us to see this pretty city in a whole new way. A natural teacher, she tell stories in such a way that you will remember them after the tour. She was also able to pick up on what we were interested in and focus her narratives in those areas. Photography Lessons -- Saba is a gifted photographer, and she helped us take photographs that were both artisitic, descriptive, and commemorative of our trip. She gave us several tips on how to take attractive, exciting pictures, and then advised us on how to apply those techniques at various stops on the Freedom Trail. Through her advice and by repetition of application, we were able to learn well these photography techniques. She followed up by sending us an email with the techniques and advice all written down so we can use them where ever we go! I love the pictures we took, and have received many compliments on them after posting them on Facebook! Saba was also kind enough to take a few pictures of me and my husband, which we love. Though we did not sign up for a private tour, it landed up being just me and my husband, which was nice -- though I think it also would have been fun to meet other people with smilar interests. Saba has a pleasant manner and is a clear instructor and encouraging teacher. She is also a storehouse of knowledge! Totally worth the price. I hope to take another tour with her the next time we are in Boston.

Saba was very nice and informative. She provided a great history lesson throughout the tour along with helpful hints on how to photograph important landmarks. She was able to "tweek" the tour for our specific wants and needs. Would recommend again!

Being a photographer myself i really enjoyed the tour and learning the history as well as being pointed in directions a little more unique and not so "touristy" for photos. the group that joined me also got a lot from this tour and some very creative ideas for there own shots.. I would recommend this tour to anyone with a camera... very well done

A very welcoming Boston experience
Tue, Jun 3, 08   1:00 PM Cyndith Female 50-59 Local Individual
I would recommend this tour to anyone. I spent a delightful afternoon learning about Boston and trying out new ideas with my camera. Saba gives you a good historical overview about special places along the Freedom Trail and helpful hints for photographing them. You go home with an appreciation for events long ago, the changing city today, and some great pictures. The tour ends in the North End, and afterwards I enjoyed visiting and photographing Old North Church, Copp's Burial Ground and the local neighborhood streets, inspired to try some of the techniques I had learned. Saba tailors her tour to any level of photographic experience. Family members who don't have cameras will also enjoy the tour with this very hospitable guide.

Not for Serious Photographers
Tue, Mar 24  12:00 PM cmiskow Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Historically, the walk was wonderful and the guide was very knowledgeable. The photography tips, however, were more geared towards "vacation snap shot shooters" than serious artistic photographers. I was expecting tips regarding aperture, depth of field and exposure setting; the tips I got were mainly "set the camera on automatic, point and shoot." She discouraged the use of a filter, which I thought was somewhat limiting to my own creativity and often suggested shots that I felt were traditional "post card views" rather than encouraging the photographer to look for a new point of view or a new take on a familiar setting. If what you are looking for is photographic memories of yourtrip to Boston, then this is your ideal tour; however, if you are a serious hobby shooter, take the tour, leave the camera in the hotel, then retrace your steps the next day on your own.
