A tasty history of pizza for all ages!
Mon, Jul 28  4:45 PM bermanjill Female 70+ Local Family With Children
My partner and I, both New Yorkers, as well as our out-of-state 13 yr. old granddaughter had a ball on Scott's Greenwich Village Pizza tour. Our guide, Miriam, was a pro in knowing how to connect with people while telling us everything we would possibly want to know about the history of pizza--in Italy and in the U.S./north america. The three different style pizza places we visited deliciously illustrated the points being made. Being with a group of strangers who shared a love of pizza enhanced the experience.

Scott is so knowledgeable about pizza. He is personable, enthusiastic, and a joy to be with. We have been on the tour around 20 times--we bring family and friends when they visit New York, and everyone raves about the tour.

Best $60 you'll ever spend.
Sun, Jul 27  11:00 AM rendiohead Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
This is the best $60 you'll ever spend. And there are three reasons: 1) Scott is the most passionate and genuine person you'll ever meet - not only when it comes to pizza but when it comes to LIFE. He's energetic, personable, thoughtful, attentive, knowledgable, and his love for pizza is INFECTIOUS. You can tell how much though he puts into each and every tour he gives! 2) It's also secretly an NYC tour masquerading as a pizza tour. Whether you're a local or a tourist - the tour gives you an authentic flavor (pun intended) of the city that can't be seen from other bus tours! 3) THE PIZZA - this is the most obvious reason. The pizza on this tour is fan-tas-tic. It changes each time Scott gives the tour - but since he's leading it, it's guaranteed to be awesome. As a local, I discovered a lot of new places that I'm definitely going back to. Ultimately - TAKE THIS TOUR! You won't regret it.

Very slow, and little variety
Fri, Jul 25  11:00 AM TarinLite Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
This tour was very slow and lacked pizza variety. I had really high hopes coming into this tour, especially after reading some of the reviews. Our tour guide was not actually Scott, but rather an employee of Scott's. She was very nice, so I don't want to blame her for our poor experience. I think it was the way the tour was structured in general. We visited 3 pizza places in 3 hours and ate 1 slice at each place (we visited Lombardi's, Joe's pizza, and John's pizza). Really only Lombardi's had an interesting history...the other 2 did not at all (they seemed to be just generic new york pizza places, at least that's the impression I got). We also were only able to sit down at Lombardi's...we ate on the sidewalk for the other 2. After eating our slice of pizza, the tour guide would have us discuss the pizza....the sauce, cheese, crust, in a failed attempt to engage the crowd. Then after our debrief, we'd walk a fairly long distance to the next pizza place. We passed sooooo many good pizza places along the route, I wished we had stopped at twice as many places, and only had a half slice at each place to provide more variety. Perhaps throw in some sicilian slices, thin crust, maybe an option other than just plain cheese? It was all very one note and felt like it lasted way longer than it needed to...my date and I even dipped out a few minutes early because we were getting way to antsy. I would recommend doing a self-guided pizza tour for anyone obsessed with pizza and interested in doing this. You will get more value and be able to visit more places if you so desire.

This was a great activity for teens and adults. My sister and I grew up outside of New York City and she has been coming back for years with her children and now her grandchild. We were looking for something a little different that teenagers and adults might enjoy. This turned out to be the perfect activity. Scott was fabulous and very knowledgeable about pizza. He spoke about the history and the cooking methods. This tour included science, history, and fun!

Our tour with Scott was fantastic! He filled our bellies and our minds. We got a great understanding of the origin of pizza, the different types of pizza, what happens in the cooking process, a tour of the best pizza joints in NYC and lots of great NYC tips from Scott. His enthusiasm for his job and the product is contagious making it impossible not to be engaged and delighted. He was great with the kids and the grown ups. I highly recommend this as an integral part of any visit to the city!!!

Other than being a little disappointed we didn't have a native New Yorker for a tour guide, it was a great tour. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

Absolutely Awesome Experience!

I bought tickets for this as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. At first I was apprehensive about the price of the tour since there's only three stops, but three was the perfect number! I was pleasantly surprised to see that the tour was also informational, not just walking and eating. The tour guide, Cedric, was very knowledgeable and interesting. He kept the group very engaged in the tour and excited to keep learning about pizza history. Everything about the tour was great, from the cute little tour packages we all received to the pizza stops we made along the way. I would absolutely recommend this tour to food lovers, Manhattan enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning a little more about pizza culture. As a student living in New York, I hate touristy money traps. But this was far from the typical tourist trap. It was a thoughtful, well-guided, interesting tour for locals and tourists alike. This whole experience gets a 5 out of 5 stars. If you're on the fence about whether or not you want to take the time for this trip, definitely do! I went on the Crosstown Pizza Walk and look forward to booking other tours with Scott's Pizza Tours!
