Quirky, fun and quintessentially NY
Wed, Dec 10, 08   11:00 AM gcgodda Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My mother and I regularly go to NYC and look for different types of things to do. We thoroughly enjoyed the history Scott provided about NYC and pizza during our walk through lower Manhattan. It was a rainy day which made it even better, because my mother and I were the only two who braved the weather to make the tour. We even had leftover pizza to take home, and a beer at our last pizza stop. Before Scott took us to our first pizza place, he took us to Little Italy to a cheese shop where they make homemade mozzarella. My mother and I agreed we are going back to the cheese shop and our first pizza stop the next time we go to NYC. Both were wonderful. We have recommended Scott's Pizza Tours to all of our friends.

Scott's Pizza Tour is fun and delicious. He really knows his stuff and teaches us well. We learned a lot that we can take with us on other culinary adventures. Also there were kids on the tour who got such a kick out of it. It's rare to have this kind of event that entertains both adults and young ones equally well. Go Go Pizza Bus!

Passionate About Pizza

If you are looking for something different while in New York City, I would highly recommend a walking pizza tour with Scott Wiener. The guy is passionate about his job and provides a historical look at the best slices in several areas of Manhattan. You get to go to an authentic Italian cheese store to sample fresh mozzarella, then enjoy it on a pizza from Lombardi's, America's first pizzeria. Scott will explain the differences in crust and cooking times using coal-fired ovens versus conventional ovens - and even takes you behind the scenes at an oven manufacturer. In between visits to pizzerias, you'll get a small gift bag with palate cleansers and a notepad, plus learn about the architecture and history in areas where you walk. Your taste different styles of pizza, and can make your own choice of what you consider to be the quintessential New York slice. Scott keeps it light and entertaining, so the time passes quickly. The tour begins and ends within a block of a Subway terminal, so it is also convenient.

My husband and I recently went on Scott's Pizza Tour while we were visiting NYC from Australia. We had such a great time and really enjoyed Scott's enthusiasm for pizza. Fornino's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn definitely had the best pizza of the whole tour. I would seriously recommend this tour to anyone!

I enjoyed Scott's Pizza Tour so much when I took it several months ago, that when I had visitors from California who craved Pizza, I took them on the tour. We visited different places than the first time I took the tour. Scott was as energetic and filled with knowedge about Pizza as the first time. Each visit was a great experience. Traveling on a School Bus was like being at a big party. Everyone was having such a good time. I would certainly go on this tour again. What a fun afternoon. Kuddos to Scott for making each person on the tour feel great.

Scott's warmth and knowledge pair together to bring something very special to a tour with a few surprises of its own. Yes, there's great pizza of varying styles but...so much more. If you enjoy great pizza, embrace great culinary delights, and long to explore the depths of the city's history and top spots ---this tour is for you--mangia!

Done the sights before - take this tour!
Sun, Nov 9, 08   11:00 AM interlaken Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
For the jaded tourist who has done the sights before, this tour gives the visitor the opportunity to experience a more intimate NYC though the palate of the everyday New Yorker. For us, mother and teenage daughter, our long weekend in the City with a whirlwind of 5 theatrical performances and shopping was capped with this tour. It ended up being our unexpected highlight! I'm not sure what it was, but the combination of starting in a neighborhood away from the crowds, being in a bus instead of the subway and seeing the water, bridges and homes, a congenial group of strangers and of course the enthusiasm, not hype, of Scott and his genuine wish to make it a good tour, gave us a perfect Sunday afternoon. Thanks from San Diego

Had a great time learning the history of pizza in New York, touring NY and eating pizza. When you are done with the tour you will know that a cheese pizza is not just another cheese pizza. Guide was very well versed and enthusiastic.

Such a great day!

This was the best NY thing I've done! I've lived in ny my whole life and recently I've been trying out some of the less touristy guided tours. This was amazing! We went to four pizzerias that I never would have found and ate the best pizza! I also mentioned that it was my boyfriend's birthday and the whole group sang to him and one of the pizzerias brought him a birthday dessert with a candle. Scott (the guide) knows so much about pizza and is really funny--like not I'm laughing at your jokes because you're trying so hard, but genuinely a funny guy. All in all, a great day with fun people and great food! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

My wife and I had a great time on the pizza tour! Even though we are New Yorkers and had been to a couple of the locations before, it was great to get a behind the scenes tour with Scott and learn about the history of the various places. Scott also introduced us to Patricia's in the Bronx which we had never heard of before, but is a place that had great pizza. Many thanks to Scott for a great afternoon!

I was looking forward to this tour as an excuse to eat delicious pizza, and was incredibly and pleasantly surprised at the depth of knowledge our tourguide, Scott, brought to the table on all things pizza and NYC history related. And the pizza didn't disappoint, either :) I recommend this tour to locals and tourists alike... anyone looking for a really authentic, uniquely NYC experience.
